I'm 23 and if I'm gonna marry anyone they best like this song, my 70+ year old dad told me about this song and I'm forever Grateful, brings a tear to my eye, this song will remind me of my dad who was shooting pool at 16 playing blueberry hill. It was old in his day 😂 and even older in mine!

That smile of his said more about his view of life than anything else. People in the 20s look back and say how awful things were in his era but our rate of depression has increased exponentially over the decades since his time. With depression at its lowest in people born in that era and rising as you get to younger generations. Why can't we have their outlook?

Haven't cried since I lost my great grandmother when I was 8ish 9ish. Now I'm 16 and experiencing the intense pressure of taking 5 AP classes on top of working part time. Thought that AP bio would be the one to crack me(jk), but just hearing that piano intro and seeing Louis's great big smile crack his face made me lose it. There's something so innocent about this song. It really has no message. No purpose to being made. It just exists because of an artists love for music. Today the music industry is so...capitalist? Release another song=make more money. There's no heart in it. That's why artists like Louis and Cobain are the kings of their respective genres. They wrote songs because they wanted to inspire/enlighten/bring joy to people.

Listen again. Think of the song from the pt of view of someone who lost their partner at a young age, perhaps to one of the world wars or disease. Give a listen to, say, Vera Lynn's 'We'll Meet Again' -- not as great a song and maybe from pt of view instead of a solider -- but sentiment is somewhat similar.

I always say the same thing. I golden age is over. When altruism and chivalry were virtues. When performance, acting, and music were true art forms. Where we read more and saw each other more, not typing from behind our screens like I'm doing now.

Louis Armstrong was a playful old soul, full of love, plus a big husky voice full of ripples. Timeless!
Louis Armstrong's the man for generations to come...
Thank God for technology that kept this work Louis you didnt die thank you
So powerful, this was live in BERLIN, just 20 years after the war ended. Amazing.
Louis Amstrong, rest in peace, sir. Thank you for your excellent performance. The song is very beautiful.
I laugh everytimes watching Louis singing live... The smile on his face... Just priceless... Emotional as always.
What an amazing man. Best version of this song there ever has been and ever will be.

Die Musik von Louis wird immer zeitlos und wundervoll bleiben! Sie hat schon immer mein Herz berührt! Er ist einfach der GRÖSSTE!
Toujours un immense plaisir a écouter
That smile of his said more about his view of life than anything else. People in the 20s look back and say how awful things were in his era but our rate of depression has increased exponentially over the decades since his time. With depression at its lowest in people born in that era and rising as you get to younger generations. Why can't we have their outlook?
Armstrong forever!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

His voice is marvelous. It's like I hear a trumpet singing
Terrific performance of this old song :-)

grandissimo ineguagliabile

I have seen in the comments that the Russian people love his music.
“How ‘bout it for our good friend Al?”
This music is the best. My father is dead :-( but he loved Armstrong. When I hear this music I remember him very fondly.
Born poor, died rich, and did not do any harm to anyone along the way. Many successful black people these days owe their success to Armstrong, who paved the way for them to create the road to acceptance by white people. He was all talent and heart.
I don't know if anyone read or listened to his story about how passionately he blew his trumpet. He did it so much that his lips were blistered and bruised, but he still carried on because it was what he loved.
I have been learning English for 1 year in order to write down that I respect Louis many years!😉👍
What a voice.... a so swinging voice... A voice to danse... simply incredible.... Louis, you'll remain for long, may be forever the "king if swing"
I can listen to him forever
On this day in 1961 {March 5th} Louis Armstrong performed "Blueberry Hill" on the CBS-TV program 'The Ed Sullivan Show' Five years earlier on November 3rd, 1956 it entered Billboard's Top 100 chart; eventually it peaked at #29 and spent 11 weeks on the Top 100 Two versions of the song have made the Top 10; Glenn Miller's peaked at #1 in 1940 and Fats Domino reached #2 in 1956 R.I.P. Mr. Armstrong {1901 - 1971}, Mr. Miller {1904 - 1944}, and Mr. Sullivan {1901 - 1974} & Fats is still with us!!!
In every stream of light from the heavens is the soul of Louis

I found my thrill On Blueberry Hill On Blueberry Hill When I found you The moon stood still On Blueberry Hill And lingered until My dream came true The wind in the willow played Love's sweet melody But all of those vows you made Were never to be Though we're apart You're part of me still For you were my thrill On Blueberry Hill The wind in the willow played Love's sweet melody But all of those vows you made Were never to be Though we're apart You're part of me still For you were my thrill On Blueberry Hill
What a sound.. Hallmark of greatness is that it's polarising. You either love Louis's voice or you think it's silly, there's no middle ground.
I found my thrill on Blueberry Hill On Blueberry Hill when I found you The moon stood still on Blueberry Hill And lingered until my dreams came true The wind in the willow played love's sweet melody But all of those vows we made were never to be Though we're apart you're part of me still For you were my thrill on Blueberry Hill (I found my thrill) Come climb the hill with me, baby (On Blueberry Hill) We'll see what we shall see (On Blueberry Hill) I'll bring my horn with me (When I found you) I'll be with you where berries are blue (The moon stood still) Each afternoon we'll go (On Blueberry Hill) Higher than the moon we'll go (And lingered until) Then to a weddin' in June we'll go (My dreams came true) The wind in the willow played (Do you really love me) Love's sweet melody (As I love you?) But all of those vows we made (Will you still remember) Were never to be (When the night is through?) Though we're apart you're part of me still For you were my thrill on Blueberry Hill
OMG, Such a unique and beautiful voice! RIP sir.
Such smiles at the end, one of the most joyful singers
