LOUD STRAIGHT PIPE BMW M6 - MUST HEAR!

READ: So stock M6s all dyno around 410RWHP (DynoJet numbers) in stock form. Since the dyno-cell is not finished, we ran all of these tests one after the other on a Mustang Dyno.
With JUST the custom straight-pipe exhaust, the car put down 422RWHP which is corrected to 447.03 RWHP! That's approximately 37RWHP +/- from just the exhaust.
Then, the custom intake was installed. Now, keep in mind, NONE of the tuning has been done, nor have the heat shields been put in place (so the car was running about 15° over what it did with the stock airboxes) but it still picked up an extra (Mustang) 13RWHP. It did 435RWHP which corrects to 461RWHP. Once tuning is done and everything is dialed in, there's a real shot at 490-500RWHP and it sounds amazing!

BMW made a huge mistake taking away the v10, it sounds incredible.

Eh if you know anything about the germans, sound is not top of their priority list currently. They currently favor effective power band, fuel economy, and emissions. All of which the V10 is horrible at.

Hands down the best sounding M6 ever. A good friend has an M6 convertible and I love the way his sounds at wot with the top down. I can only imagine what that beast sounds like in person.

Thanks for that explanation, that makes a lot more sense now. I suppose the smaller bore a shorter stroke contribute to the high rev capability and linear power delivery.

You're not nuts.The reason it doesn't have the throatiness is because the S85 is a very small V10 -- only 5.0L, with a bore of 3.6" and a stroke of 3". The S65, which is the V8 variant of the S85 with the same bore and stroke, is only 4.0L -- the size of a large American V6. Bore and stroke contribute greatly to the throatiness of the exhaust note, but stroke contributes more than bore. The short 3" stroke combined with that small 3.6" bore is what gives it that 4-cylinder like sound.

It's i because the harmonics produced in straight 5 or a v10 turns out as a major 3'rd harmony. It is a very unique sounding engine configuration.
I swear I saw the exact same car yesterday, but it was in Pittsburgh and he had PA dealer plates... Great looking and sounding car regardless!
exactly what it is, no restriction, straight pipes from headers to the back.
Nice work. You should check out what my friends at Evolve Automotive are doing with the S85B50. They make some of the best headers and tune for the E60 M5 and M6!
When you ran this car on the dyno did you go into the car settings and change the horse power to the 500 sport mode? There are 3 different horse power levels in the car set up

I'd be very grateful if you could tell me the custom pipe set-up on that M6.. Since you're saying it's Custom straight-pipe exhaust, I'm guessing you have some form of X or Y-pipe to replace the resonators, decat with straight-piped rear exhausts? Have you touched the manifolds at all? it sounds a bit different from just exhaust mods. Cheers

hot damn that is one sick ass sound M6 is insane esp to be heavy and still have a 0-60 time of 4.1 sec this car has it all prices right, back seats, power, motor, sound, looks, handling, interior, wheels, F1 transmission, what else could I ask for other than more hp lol. (not say 500hp is not enough for a stock car)
(Cont.) I didn't really like the exhaust tone at first either, but it really kind of grows on you. I have Eisenmann exhaust on my M6, and I just crave the sound it makes above at 6krpm. My biggest complaint isn't really the tone itself (which to me sounds like two 4cyl engines revving simultaneously), but rather the droniness of the note. When cruising on the freeway at ~ 3krpm the noise just drones on and on.

My M6 did 446rwhp ( stock ) on dyno jet on 6th gear i think 410 is not a fair number and why on 4th gear ?
so here in germany the m6 has about 500 horsepower engine power and on your dyno 440 on the wheel. question to your TT gallardo. what does it have for engine power? 1250 on the wheel or?
Is it some kind of adaptive suspension that causes the rear to squat so much during the pull? I've never seen anything like that.

Sounds amazing! BTW the S85 V10 won't see 500 whp without a stroker motor or super charger. As stated by another comment, Evolve is my recommendation for tuning this beast. Take a look at my channel for 70+ races in my V10 M5. I got the Evolve tune 5 months ago and love it. Thanks for another great video Robert!

Yeah, it's not too often you can throw an aftermarket exhaust on any high-performance engine and not get some of that monotonous resonance at highway speeds. You mentioned the terrific sound the M6 makes above 6K, which is awesome, I'm sure... I just got a 2012 CTS-V, which can barely break 6K at all!
@DWiggs1026 why would they lower the lower the resistance for different cars? wouldent you want all vehicles to have the same resistance?
