The fact that Lotus is still around and this car exists is fantastic. Great cinematography too.

Its a Geely, owned by the communist CCP, Its a Trojan horse brand. Artificial life support for cars like this for a year or two then use the brand to sell more mainstream cars in to the west, manufacturing is already in China and they will, again in a year or two, move all design and engineering to China and sack the UK team. Supporting this car is just supporting Chinese industry, engineering and technology. The Chinese are very good at exploiting the naivety of westerners, convincing them this is some sort of partnership, making promises about long term investment in the UK. Stop sentimental teary eyed fools. If you want a future for western democracy and your children and/or family do not suckered.

I live in the desert southwest of America, where sunshine and beautiful roads are easy to find. Yet Henry and Carfection manage to do something I don't expect. They make me want to drive down a cold, rainy road in Scotland or Wales.

As an American who lived and worked in the UK a few years ago I can tell you they are fantastic. I driven some great roads in the Rocky Mountains and up and down the coast of SoCal which are great too, but the change of scenery, weather and a whole different vibe you feel discovering some B roads, especially in Wales and Southern Scotland, can make a gear head/petrol head/car guy a happy SOB for sure.

Cup holders, quality fit and finish, excellent headlights...I'm not sure I'm ready for this kind of Lotus. I've had an Elise for 17 years. The only time it has heated seats is when I've eaten a bean burrito.
I really like this car because I feel like it's trying to keep the magic of old cars alive in the modern era 🙌🏻 Also, those shots from 13:50 all the way to the end are just pure art ❤️
The older I get the more I imagine myself owning a small fun and light sports car as my final car rather than some high powered beast. To that extent, historically I think Lotus has targeted that segment perfectly and I have no doubt the Emira will be great whether at launch or over a generation or two. Hopefully by then I will be in a financial position to buy one as my final ICE hurrah. Many thanks for this video on what could be my dream car.

Disappointingly, its porkiness is something of which Chapman would not approve. Frankly, this means it isn't a Lotus in any real sense. An Alpine is a better bet if lightness is your goal.

Another great video Henry. This reminds me of an article by Steve Cropley in Autocar where he drove an M100 Elan to the Jim Clark museum back in the 90's. 👌I saw Jim Clark's Indy car with the yellow exhausts and stripe at the Henry Ford Museum recently, such an impressive machine.
Another top notch review Henry. I prefer road trip, real world reviews as opposed to track reviews as the scenery adds another dimension. In 2013 I visited the UK and a must do visit to Jim's museum in Duns. Cheers from Australia.
Thank you so much! I almost died of pneumonia in 1965. My dad brought a Matchbox model of Jim Clark's winning Indy car to the hospital. Thank you Dad, and thank you Jim Clark, both in heaven.
I've watched hundreds of car videos, but this was the first ever one to make me tear up as it elicited an intense, perhaps spiritual experience. The landscapes, the music, the poetic writing-they all tap into that innate drive for exploration and oneness with nature, and all through an amazing car!
Greatly appreciate you guys backing catchpole. His presentation matched with great videography is top notch
That opening sequence was brilliantly done. That sort of thing takes ages to get Henry’s steps so spot on. Nicely done, chaps.
Storytelling, nature and automobiles not to forget the music are the things to live for. Thank you sir Henry Catchpole.
Henry at his best. Great cinematography, and a history lesson to boot. Thanks so much, cheers.
Wonderful story telling Henry... certainly a stunning car to look at. Can't wait for a test drive.
It's amazing the effect of having cheap and available camera drones has had on the "test drive". Now it's a panorama of sweeping hills and plunging valleys and of roads, made for drivers, twisting and turning into the distance. Your videos look beautifully done and are a pleasure to watch. Thanks for posting, Henry.
Best car channel and best car poet on KZread. With the visuals to match. Pure class with this team once again.

There are very few who can match the way Henry can articulate the feeling a car can bring. He wrote a piece about driving a Cayman under the stars at night in EVO and its the finest piece of automotive journalism I have read. These videos put his words to life which is huge credit to the camera/production work. Not just a great car content channel but an Utterly wonderful youtube channel full stop.
Great tip on the toe and camber settings between the two tire choices! Changing the toe, camber, and caster (just adjusting some bolts) on my track car transformed the dynamics every bit as much as all the physical parts that I added or replaced for thousands of dollars. So even if you get the Goodyear tires, there's nothing stopping you from having a shop change that alignment for $100 or so
The car is perfect This video is a glorious introduction, The road is spectacular, *goosebumps! Thank-you so much
Glad to see that Lotus is still on our roads, wonderful to see the yellow Emira against the beautiful UK countryside, spectacular Henry !!!!!
The whole video is amazing but I have to say that the first 1 minute 30 seconds is just pure joy and beauty. Thanks for sharing good sir. Safe driving wishes from Tampa FL.
Thanks for the absolute stunning footage and honest feedback. As a former V6 Exige owner I am so thrilled that a lot of the prior Lotus cars DNA is still present in the Emira. Therefore I am gonna love it for what it is, with all its imperfections but with its Lotus DNA that I love so much! The wait is on…
Touching tribute of Jim Clark at the end. Well done.
Absolutely fantastic film, enjoyed every minute of it. Thanks Henry and carfection!
The first few shots of the video were enough for me to give a like! Stunning.
Driving under a canopy of trees is my favourite thing! Especially on a dry Autumn morning.
Beautiful video, loved the story that encapsulated the journey. As for the gearbox, brother and I noticed even when Button was demonstrating the car on the Lotus test track that the shift wasn't good, with him having to pause between gears. Even one of the official test drivers with Harry was doing the same. I can't help feel that their engineers need to review that before production. The interior has definitely improved over the Elise. I think what happened after the Elise and TVR boom was that people's expectations of what a car could do and should do changed. They couldn't afford just to have a track day car - it had to work as a daily driver, or at least as a second car. Like a Porsche can. With raised expectations of owners, the far better quality of the interior is definitely the right idea. Other than that, it seems the only problem Lotus have with the Emira is they sold out. A nice problem to have.
How can anyone not love this car and the film? 👏 Nice one Carfection 👍🏁
Absolutely stunning countryside. Gorgeous car. I don't care how good it is, just look at it! Fantastic.
I saw the Emira in the metal at the FOS and it really does catch the eye with some refined and beautiful details. Between 4 friends the Emira came out top in the most memorable car of the day.
just another cinematography masterpiece by carfection!
Thanks for your forensic critique of the handling Henry; most people who buy it won't care, but your attention to detail is appreciated.
Excellent review as usual Henry. There are some stunning roads around Duns, and a lot of fast drivers. Reminds me of my friend who lived in the farm next to Jim Clark and Chirnside and they had one of his Lotus cortinas in their barn for a while. Sadly she never got to drive it ☹ Hope you and the team keep producing the best car videos on KZread 👍
what an epic sundown and fitting end of the film!! well done on the cinematography !!
13:41 screenshot, print, frame, put on wall. Beautiful!
That intro was beautiful! Amazing car too!
Such an epic car in every aspect! A bit like this Henry’s presentation skills!
Nice link to the past, to the greatest driver of them all (according to Fangio, and he should know!). Jim Clark was / is my hero since childhood. Those Borders roads are also very evocative, and you reminded me of a similar trip I had made through that area, in nothing so exotic as a brand new or even newer than new in your case! Rather my trip was in a fabulous little Toyota MR2 mk1. Which was really suited to those twisty roads. Drove past Edington Mains and spent some time at his grave, the headstone of which lists Farmer as his first profession, World Champion and Indy 500 winner came further down the list. What a man…
So wanted this Emira to be a home run for one of the most beloved car makers in the world. There is of course still, and Lotus have a track record of honing their cars. Great video as usual and very fitting reminder of a great driver who showed that winning and humility are not mutually exclusive human facets.
Henry, your reviews are always first-class; your ability to translate what you feel into words and sentences that mean so much to the viewer/listener, places you among the best in your trade. I don't understand why Carfection is no longer, but I think the world is worse off as a consequence.
Great video Henry! Not least because I enjoy all those (local) roads regularly in my yellow Lotus, too. 🙏🏻😍 Great choices.

A lovely review - beautifully told and captured.
those shots just pops on in eye
Another honest opinion on Emira. Some fragile types in Emira FB groups will be upset didn't say 100% positive things about it. Own 3 Evoras and only reason for me to replace one with Emira is the 4cyl option. Chris Harris and Henry both looking forward to newer engine and transmission which i agree will suite car better.
I knew it was you I saw on the A1 Henry! A bright yellow Lotus is hard to miss.
Great little film. Well done!
"Plenty quick enough for a road car"-. Manual box, minimalist interior and not copying the hyper-script that leaves me slightly bored. What a great review, constructively critical and hinting enough as to what is required to hopefully gift us a final hurrah sports car and in doing so redefine what a super-car really is- it doesn't have to be a missile, just plenty quick enough for a road car. The homage to Jim Clark so subtle and respectful - the mere mention of his name and images of him in happier, more simple times still evokes for me a tear. Thanks, Henry.
Fantastic job lotus, fantastic review as always Henry and team
