Lost Wax Casting Process from START to FINISH! EVERYTHING You Need to Know to Cast Jewelry At Home
Ойын-сауық
The lost wax casting process is SO much fun to learn, but absolutely intimidating at first, especially if you are learning on your own. There isn't a ton of super in depth information on the casting process online so I made this video in the hopes of making it all a little more clear for you than it was for me when I first started researching and "doing".
There's SO much involving this process, so if I missed anything or if you have a higher level of knowledge than I do, by all means, please let us all know in the comments.
Below is everything I mentioned in this video. These are affiliate links, but they are at zero cost to you if you use them, they just help me greatly to continue creating these types of in depth videos. Thank you for all of your support and thank you PepeTools for supplying some insnely good equipment!

I remember my time casting jewelry and It was very challenging! When I was successful, it was pure joy. I’m glad to see you wearing a mask when handling the investment. Best of luck!
Thanks for the a-z, love the organic aesthetic of ur work and the way you approach shooting for the tube, learning as you go is very engaging. Great work, My God! how beautiful... and the jewelry is amazing too.☺

Great video, so detailed and I'm envious of your casting tool setup! Get yourself a Blueair (or similar) air purifier. It has an app and tells you how bad the air is. I used it to clear the fumes from spray painting a radiator, it cleared the room in under 10 minutes from being maxed out on "polluted" when It started. Definitely recommend an air purifier, I have one for my laser engraver as well.

Love the video! Do you mind sharing what size flask you used for the burnout please? 🙏🏾
On the problem of the non-perforated flask: the air inside the design is in the way. You pour the liquid metal in, and the air has nowhere to go. That's the value of the vacuum and the perforated flask: it is sucking the air through the hot plaster to make room for the liquid metal.
Your work is amazing! I am loving your channel so much, you really help! I just want to ask if the temperature is in celsius?
@MiteraMade
27 күн бұрын
Thank you so much!!! ☺🙏❤ The temperature of the melting furnace is in Fahrenheit and the burnout schedule for the tabletop kiln is in Celsius ❤since the kiln itself is in Celsius
Hi , thank you very much for sharing this video ,it was very informative i have a little question please. Is it ok to set the stones in the wax model and get it inside the furnace? Will the stones get damaged?
for the heat of the flask i think you can use a laser heat reader to read the heat of the flask if your not sure.
Hi, appreciate all the info, I had a question is the temp on the 8hour schedule on Fahrenheit or Celsius?
@MiteraMade
13 күн бұрын
It’s all in Fahrenheit 💜
Been casting for a little while now and just recently started casting stones in place, which as you know needs to cool gradually and not quenched. The last couple of times I have removed the investment dry, not putting it in water first. Obviously, you need a mask while doing it this way, but I actually found it was a lot faster to clear the extra material out. Curious if you have tried it this way and what your result may be.
Great Video! I noticed you switched electric furnaces, did something happen to your other one?
@MiteraMade
5 күн бұрын
I did!! Nothing happened to the other one, PepeTools kindly sent me their tilt to pour one and I genuinely enjoy it more. 💜 it heats up faster, takes up less space and I pour a lot easier without loosing heat from being overly cautious 💜
150 for a utility is amazing! Try 400 to 500 for electric to run your ac! And my house is a very small 3 bed. One story!

As always wonderful video, may I highly suggest that you put your beautiful hair up when you’re working. The bench jeweler profession is most enjoyable but at the same time extremely dangerous (high heats and fast moving tools). An ounce of prevention is worth more than a pound of cure! ! !

is the prestige oro that much different than the optima investment?
I am writing this message from Iran , in fact we are co_worker . I hope success in your career , Is it possible to ask , you work just on silver or gold in your other choice.
Andriana, while casting equipment is expensive, do you believe its a good idea for new jewellers to buy this fairly early on? The time savings, control on quality and experimental ability seems like it would add great value to a startup jeweller.

Honestly, I would not recommend it just for the money investment it requires alone. If you already have the jewelry making tools you need to learn how to stone set, solder, polish etc., then why not, if you can afford it and you really want to learn! ❤ BUT, if you're like I was, literally starting from zero tools, I would wait until I had all of my basic tools and had some sales before investing that much.
It is easy to work out the additional cost to your electricity bill - take the wattage of the equipment you use and multiply that by the time you have it on, and that gives you Watt/hours. Your electricity bill will tell you how much you are paying for electricity per kWh. In the case of your furnace, it is 850W. If you run it for two hours, you will use 1700 Wh of electricity. If you are paying 30c per kWh, then you used about 50c worth of electricity.

You’re able to recycle the silver for the joint for the first ring, right? So you won’t really waste it per se?
@MiteraMade
Ай бұрын
None of my silver goes to waste. 💜 I can mix it with my casting grain for new castings, melt it down to make new casting grain or melt it down and pour and ingot of metal and then roll it out for wire and sheet oooorr you can mail it in for recycling and money back. 💜
Cuanto se reduce de tamano el wax cuando se hace el casting? 😊

How does the Smart Pickle smell compared to the vinegar/salt pickle?
@MiteraMade
Ай бұрын
There’s literally no smell which is AMAZING! My husband commented on that recently because he always hhhaaaated when I would turn on the pickle pot because it would make the whole room smell like vinegar, so he loves this stuff! It also gets my pieces way whiter faster than salt and vinegar
using borax/flux with graphite crucibles is not reccomended. It makes the crucible degrade faster. Graphite crucibles naturally makes a oxygen deprived enviroment. Have a nice day, love all your content

Thank you so much for that information!! I had no idea!!🙏🏻🙏🏻🙏🏻🫢🫢🫢
This is what I’m doing, you think you could help me?
Buy a graphite rod holder.
26:13 you don’t actually have to clean the silver, dirt like pen marks will just burn off over 300 Celsius, just a waste of time
Your work bench is very high, that is probably why you miss pouring, mine is only 75cm high, and im 168cm tall.

Yesss the beach height is a problem lol I fully acknowledge that. But it’s the only one I have to work with at the moment so I’ll be working on some sort of longer wider step soon to give me more height 💜
Your setup will allow you to add a 3d printer and do digital jewellery :)

I think CAD and 3d printing is SUPER intriguing and seems like A LOT to learn lol. If I ever did get a 3d printer, yes I could cast resin work! If i'm honest, I am not sure I will ever go down that road but it is really really cool!

Unsubscribed: Pepetools has some great products. I pay for KZread to avoid commercials. You've become the official Pepetools product placement marketer. I really don't like that. Nothing personal, Adriana; I think you're great and I wish you success, but I won't see it because of how much I hate this kind of product marketing.

PepeTools is one of the largest jewelry tools and material sellers out there. I purchased and still purchase their tools with or without them sending me tools because I read reviews like a lot of people and make my best judgement on what to buy. Yes PepeTools sent me some tool to try out; tools that I specifically researched and asked for because I have been hoping to try them out for a while. Had they not been so kind to send them over themselves, these are items I would have purchased myself. I’m grateful they sent me tools I would have already purchased myself, it saves me money to grow my business or pay bills. I would never promote a product I didn’t truly love. Which they doubled down on as well and asked me to speak truthfully about the products, which is another reason I love PepeTools. The last point, is that no one should have to work for free. This KZread channel takes time from my jewelry business (time that I thoroughly enjoy, but time) I need to be paid for my time in order to continue doing anything, so I can pay my bills and feed my family. So yes, you will see sponsors on my videos and those sponsors help keep me going. No one on the internet knows me, but I know me and my values and morals, and I know, I will never promote anything that I don’t like. I put a lot of work and care into my videos, so for someone to see that I got sponsored by a brand with a wonderful reputation, in my field of work, using products that also have great reviews and work well, I would hope that someone, even a stranger on the internet, would be happy for me. If that’s not you, and you’d like to unsubscribe, by all means. I only want people here that can see my heart and appreciate my time and efforts and care enough to not expect me to work for free.
