    I cant tell you how much I appreciate you posting this series of videos. My state is shut down at the moment and I'm working from home. .It just makes me feel good to see all the stuff in the hut. I look forward to the vids of the larger scale robots - Robby, B9, Johhny five and the silent running drones. Especially any construction details (molding/casting etc...) Thanks!!

    I might have commented about this on another video, but I had the orange and black Remco version with the clear claws. What's more exciting than the actual toy was the thrill I got when he turned up unexpectedly at the now-defunct Masters Department store, and my parents agreed to buy it for me for either my birthday or Christmas. Their toy department always had some unique stuff, while the rest of the store was just a typical low-end discount store. I remember liking the toy but, I was always put off by its odd color scheme.

    2:08 - Is that the 7" Trendmasters version? It looks like it. I'm still mad I missed that at the original price. I checked the website every day and it always said "Coming soon." Then one day it said "Sold out." When I emailed them to ask why, they said "Oh, that's just the ONLINE store, we shipped the robots to retail stores weks ago and now they're all gone." ARGH!!! 2:21 - As far as I know, Hallmark didn't make a LIS Robot ornament. That looks like the one produced by Space Productions for Spencer Gifts. It came in a green box with a window in the front. Carlton Cards made a smaller ornament (which I don't have) that from the photos, looks like a carbon-copy of the keychain, right down to the bendy-straw arms. According to auction descriptions though, it's 3/4" taller than the keychain at 4, 1/4". Unfortunately they now sell for $40-50, which is a bit much (for me) for an ornament. Nice collection! I'd love to have even half of what you have, but I'll never have the money for that. Do you also have one of the Moebius Models from a few years ago? From what I've seen, that's the most accurate, small-scale reproduction of B9. Plus, there are a bunch of after-market parts to customize it, lighting kits, etc.

    I used a Johnny Lighting B9 on my Lost in Space model with the cyclops. He looks about the right scale. He standing behind Don on the right hand side.

    Thanks for showing your New Bright Magic Mikes! I had so many of those but as a kid only a few robots survived all these years. I’m very impressed that you can modify them. If that’s the case, I’d be delighted to send you my DJ R3X (RX-24 from STAR TOURS) and mod it to handle auxiliary compatibility. I hope you have one. There’s also the astromechs from the Droid Depot shop at Disneyland. You should check those out, hopefully they make it to your collection.

    The “ornament” one you mentioned is not Hallmark. I believe Carlton Cards did a B9 and one was sold at Spencer Gifts, but never Hallmark. I wish they would do a B9 and Jupiter 2 though.

    WOW!!!!! A few questions: What color combo is the RAREST on the Remco ? The Mexican one; did that come out AFTER the show was off the air ? How hard was THAT one to get ?? It looks like it breaks REALLY easily.

  • @Robothut

    @Robothut

    It is hard to say what color combo is the rarest on the Remco because collectors and toy dealers have been mixing and matching colors for so many years now. The Mexican B9 is hard to find in working condition. The bump and go drive is almost always messed up do to poor design, the record player is the most minimalist design I have ever seen so has problems as well. The mechanical lighting effect in the chest is driven by a rubber band, so you know what the means. After a few years the rubber band turns to crap.

    Did you know the 1860's show had 2 robots. They had the main suit and they had a hollow stunt bot that was not as nice looking but worked for special effects shots like flying it around on wires.

    I am looking to find a robot that I received as I child for Christmas around 1969. All I remember is that is was tall, and had a metal bar in the middle so that when it went into a wall it would go in reverse. Don't remember it's name and just can't seem to locate.

    I actually think that in some ways the B9 is a nicer design than Robby. I love Robby though, he will always be king.
