Finch's rendition of this song is charming and sweet. No one's voice is perfect when they are serenading someone privately in a meadow. I love this movie. In 1973 I was 11 when my best friend and I went to see it and we both loved it so much we each asked our parents for the soundtrack on our birthdays, and played it repeatedly. I still have my copy.

As I have said on other threads , most of us can sing . Many Actors can but there is a difference between being a person who can do it and those who are Pros that do it for a living . I even asked a Drama student once if she could sing and dance . She said , “ Yes but not as good as someone who has done it all their life .

Very interesting. I love the song. A gallant effort by Finch but the dubbing was better and a perfect match.

Do you have access to the other Peter Finch/Liv Ullman songs from this movie?

Liv never recorded anything, and I think Peter only attempted this one song.

@@lostvocals8 this song, and two others were cut from the movie for release. The only Finch/Ullman "song" to make it to the final cut is called "It Might Frighten Her Away." In total we have two Ullman solo tracks: "The World is a Circle" and "Where Knowledge Ends" (she sings on-screen, but was dubbed in post) With Finch, we have one solo track, "If I Could Go Back." As a duet, it's this song, the aforementioned "I Might Frighten Her Away." The 3 cut songs were made available on the OST. You can Google the OST or find the tracks here on YT.

@@KrisHerzog This song was in the original release and is in the restored DVD . It was cut a few weeks after the premiere. None of the other songs were recorded by Liv or Peter, as far as I know.
