Losing our freedom to Prospect for Gold and access our forests, rivers and streams!!

Тәжірибелік нұсқаулар және стиль

The world is fast losing one of it's most fundamental keystones to life, health and happiness. That keystone is our connection to this earth. I just received a letter from Parks and Wildlife Tasmania basically telling me that the way in which I'm filming my prospecting en devours I has to stop and I can no longer film hiking off an unmarked track, no longer have a fire to warm up on a cold winters day and no longer set up my tent while out filming and prospecting for gold.
This to me was a real eye opener into how detached from reality society has become the ways of our early pioneers and our forefathers before us are now being treated as if it were criminal behavior.
The problem with regulations like this is that the world has never needed these things more in their lives a deep connection with the land was once something everybody experienced, but with the advances in technology and our ease of life living we have become so far removed of this that mental illness, obesity, depression and unhealthy living styles have become one of our western worlds largest problems in society.
Delegates in offices making up rules to keep our natural world protected at the expense of killing the health and minds of the human race. Our forests and natural world should be free for all to experience respectfully and I for one should be allowed to inspire and educate others to motivate them to go outdoors themselves and educate them on how to best manage and preserve these beautiful places. Instead however I'm treated as a villain.

Levi, I am from Texas and know zero about your "system". Is there an interest from the local people for more freedom than less? Have you considered running for an office related to parks and outdoors - an area you have a lot to say and share with your community?

It's obvious that dollars are worth more to them than nature. It's sad. As a fellow Tasmanian I could for once feel proud thanks to these fella's. I have copped a lot of two-headed Tasmanian jokes (among others) so often over the years that I felt ashamed to be Tasmanian. Levi and Rob's channels changed that. I for once could feel pride. They showed the history and wildlife of the places that I will never go, and they bought it to the world through their adventures. I am very sad, they deserve more. 😢❤️‍🩹🙏🏻

It’s hard to understand how a Govt can treat someone like this . We love watching your vids but also reading the comments from people around Australia and the World and how appreciative they are of you sharing your adventures and beautiful aerial filming of Tasmania. The Govt should be proud and do all they can to support you in continuing your endeavours in promoting Tasmania rather than attempting to close it down. Don’t give up , but explore all possible avenues to ensure you can continue to do what you love and and what brings so much happiness to so many people around the world . ❤️💙

Freedom to be Stupid is my problem with gun ownership. Ohh I’m in Texas! Guess you might figure out who I don’t vote for. But for Levi? That’s the freedom I want to keep. They have to protect all of that country for the logging companies, wouldn't want to let you cut a stick without them making money from it. I especially like how they promote the "clean green" image and completely destroy thousands of acres of forest but leave a one hundred meter strip next to the road for the tourists to admire and see what a great job they're doing! You won't be allowed off of the boardwalk walking track in another 20 years!

The adventures I have taken! Hours and hours immersed in crystalline rivers. My arm rigid preparing for quarts vein scraping. It feels like I am fanning silt and me who spots that bright yellow glimpse of a gold flake. I can even fly! Over rivers full of treasures and forests I zoom so high above the tops of trees remind me of broccoli. And I feel cold and wet through my taped, sewn and waterlogged suit. If not for these extremely well crafted documentaries, my days would continue but my thrilling excursions days would not, I mean will no longer be. How sad for myself and countless others with physical limitations to go adventuring vicariously. To say "thank you" is all I have to give back to you boys. Thank you for taking us along! There's a fine line between conservation and common sense and it sounds like the tipping point has been breached in Tasmania. Future generations will have no idea what it's like to connect to the nature that governments work so hard to preserve and in time there won't even be an interest in it. Preservation is essential because man IS destructive but the damage done by one or even a thousand lone adventurers cannot ever be compared to a single logging company or mining company. There's actually very good reasoning for banning fires in a lot of Tasmania's bush, the prevalence of peat soils which can burn undetected for a long time, the slow growing nature of a lot of the flora, the results of climate change which have meant areas are drier than they have been in millennia, the difficulty of fighting fires in these remote locations and the rarity of our flora. King billy pine is under a lot of threat from bush fires for example.

Thank younso much for yoir videos, i am not a prospecter and still enjoy watching your determination, no matter the conditions! All fingers and toes crossed you will find a way to get back doing what you love. I came ro australia for rock climbing in the Grampians as it used to be world class... Until parks Victoria decided to shut down 50 percent of the climbing and 70 percent of all bouldering. Many claims which led to this had been debunked by evidence. These claims had them been deleted, but the agenda pushed on. I agree 100 percent with what you said at the beginning of thos video!😢

This makes me really sad. It has been such a nice journey following your videos. For me it was never about the gold really. I was mostly watching to see the beautiful nature of tasmania combined with good storytelling. I first got a glimse of Tasmanis nature in the movie The Hunter with Willem dafoe and i fell in love with tasmania. Finding your channel some years back made me so happy. It was like i was thrown back in to that movie again. Your channel has been my #1 on KZread for years. I hope you can find a way yo continue making great content even tho i understand that this is a huge set back mentally. Much Love from Sweden Levi!

Hj Levi. I hope you can get your permit to keep creating these amazing videos. Like many have said this is a great way to share awareness and also so people can visit this amazing part of Australia. Especially for those of us with disabilities or who are too old or maybe even without the financial options to get to the Tasmanian wilderness. The sad thing is even if you get this permit that still means that the rest of us citizens of Australia potentially barred from doing this kind of exploration in Tasmania. At least legally, and we shouldn't have to break the law to enjoy what we see in your videos. It's an absolute joke. Please keep us updated as this moves forward, especially where us average Joe's stand legally if we wanted to go out and enjoy these areas too. I think the majority of people who would go to the effort to explore these remote parts of nature do indeed respect nature and have ths right attitude. So if they are making these rules because of an extreme minority who abuse nature. I think that is wrong. That's why you need the correct rules. Not ignorant blanket rules that prevent everyone from enjoying something in nature. Anyway, all the best and keep up the great work. Your videos are both inspiring and relaxing to watch.

Its a bureaucracy thing. The laws were made 25 years ago and are sorta made for large production companies filming documentaries and movies. They never bothered to enforce this with small youtubers before. But a certain larger 4x4 travel channel came through and suddenly they are all in a kerfuffle about it. You have to apply for anfilm permit, which can take months, literally months....for each and every 'project', which is basically every weekly or fortnightly vid for a youtuber. And they also want something like 400 bucks for insurance etc etc....which takes a massive chunk out of any monetisation that a channel may have, and with a small channel, that may be more than they would even make on the video, and thats before all the other production costs. Its a 25 year old law that doesnt account for how modern media works and clearly needs to be overhauled......but the speed at which state politics works, that could literally take a decade to fix....and thats WITH a sympathetic politician helping to get it fixed.

Great choice of words in your introduction to the video l get what you were trying to put across, the big business out there can go and destroy large forests for building materials and the big mines dig out huge craters looking for gold and iron ore but the little bloke who wants to give a little bit of an insight to the people who can't experience what you do because of age or disabilities everyone will be affected if you can't keep providing the great video's you give us, l am a prospector myself aged 60 and am self funded retiree l have had difficulties with depression and anxiety and with the understanding of my wife l go away for a week or more at a time to reset and it helps me so much if someone tried to take that away from me l don't know what I would do my last trip to Dunolly sluicing for a week or so resulted in 10.42 grams of gold and some awesome mornings with deer grazing no more than 200 mtrs from my camp. But don't give up until the fat lady sings we are all behind you and support what you do to bring enjoyment to those who can't experience it themselves,

Fair warning this may be a longer comment than usual. First off, you nailed the connection between technology and the widening access to nature. These decisions are felt by us all, no matter where you call home in this world. Decisions easily made by those that do not quite comprehend the mental health value of time spent exploring and seeing things that make us all better people for not only society but also our friends and family. Second thing is ingenuity. You crafted a work around for the paddle dilemma, this is the root of what men find satisfaction in. A sense of accomplishment. What is at the core of our being. Good on you brother. Society or shall I say media will tell us we are all different. I argue we are all the same once we get into nature and see each others simple nature. You and Rob are bright individuals and after watching your adventures, format, editing, and most importantly story telling…you will both come out of this with a work around solution. All the best and looking forward to your continued journeys!

Just wondering, would the gold be sorta replenished every time there is a good amount of rainfall and the river floods, perhaps eating away the banks slightly here and there? Would it be worthwhile going over your tracks again after a year or two? Or would it take longer for all that gold to get dislodged and fed back into the rivers and creeks?
