To be fair, I'm the sicko that would want his finger back. I'd turn it into an ornament inside a jar of resin. Keep the Rob stories coming. Someone in the comments made ref to a Freddie Dobbs ate my hamster t shirt. This has me intrigued being old enough to remember Mr Starr, and knowing of Mr Dobbs. More infectious laughter please 😂

Very funny story Willie i was laughing along with you. The Honda you mentioned along with the DCT gearbox is a fantastic do it all bike. Its a brilliant commuter but as London is full of tealeafs i hope you've got secure parking.

Another very funny Rob story thanks Willie 🤣. If your Ernie has now covered anout 3k miles it'll be just about fully run in which, lets be honest saves a lot of frustration. Plus, the provence is worth quite a bit too? I'd consider having a look at it. If it's been looked after and in good condition - if the price is right it might be great to have him come home. 😊

Great house news. I hope all goes well for you. I have 2 bikes now and was convinced by son to sell the Himalayan. Not only are the prices ridiculously low, but the bikes aren't selling. So the Himi is staying!!

NC750X I had one. Please test ride one for at least one hour. It is tedius, boring and lifeless, the brakes are poor and the suspension a bit meh! You have to lift the pillion seat to get to the fuel cap so don't think you can strap a bag to it. Oh! and when you put fuel in use minimum pressure on the trigger or the fuel will spurt back out due to the shape of the tank. BUT WORSE is the seat which is harder towards the rear than a plank of wood. It caused me such pain that I had to sell the bike. You are taller than me and I found it a bit cramped. Questions for yourself: What sort of bike do you NEED, how long is the journey. What sort of speed range will be required. Will your journey be Motorway - Fast A road etc. If you move to North Essex, Suffolk or Norfolk there are very few 70mph roads. Will the travel time be controlled by road condition- speed limit , congestion etc. Will a GSX1000 be significantly quicker than a 350 Royal Enfield? All year commuter or just the summer? A commuter needs to be able to cover a lot of miles between services so service schedules are a factor.

At the end of 1976, I was working in a lathe workshop over the university break. The foreman assigned a seasoned workman to show me how to use a bandsaw, which he demonstrated with his eyes on me. Alas, his index finger was cut cleanly through and I remember his comment, "Oh, damn, you, [me] call Jack" [the foreman] I did, and it was all handled with precision and care - unlike him. Willie, if new prices have dropped, that must mean your second-hand Halcyon Grey has depreciated also? With 3000 miles on the clock, it's barely run in although I can understand why 'new' has appeal.

Hello Willy thats great to hear about the potential new place lol jizliton sounds prestigious bucolic and wholesome diy is crazy at times half a little finger dirty btw my Dad was like that . In more ways than either of us will ever know. Got the mark 2 going to redo the pinstripes i think and change the red to a color changing or flex green. Always love hearing whats up.

G’day mate, sounds like some good news on the shift, maybe 🫣 . You may not believe this , however I used to build & fly model aircraft, there was a job I wanted to do on one of them late night, rushed into the job & done what Rob done, cut my thumb off & was trying to superglue it back on when my wife ran into my modelling room. She stopped me from proceeding, rushed me to hospital where they succeeded in reattaching it. Still gives me grief at times…. The thumb I mean, the wife saw the light & pissed off with another bloke, probably one with less sawdust between the ears 🤪🤣🤣. Take care mate, shiny side towards the sky. Hooroo 🏍👍😎
