Los Noj Hmo - Come Eat Dinner (ENG SUBTITLE)

Ойын-сауық

*Read* *Read*
A dialogue heavy short film that captures today's uncomfortable family dinners.
I dedicate this short film to my oldest brother (and all eldest siblings). The eldest most of the time, blindly paves the path for us younger siblings and we take it for granted. Lets keep in mind that no matter how far we go, we have to appreciate, thank, love, and support the trailblazers.
Nco ntsoov hlub cov laus thiab hais lus zoo rau cov ua hlob yus, vim yog tsis muaj lawv ces peb yeej tsis mus tau deb npaum li lub hom phiaj xav tseg. Txawm yuav kawm txawj thiab ntse npaum li cas los yuav tsum saib tau cov ua xub tho txoj kev rau yus taug. Ua neeg nyob yuav tsum sib hlub, sib txhawb, thiab sib pab luag thiab li yuav saib taus peb.

This short film would be even more tearjerker if the character who played the mom is much older in her 80s.

To my older Tou I wanna thank you bro! As the older brother you took care of us six when dad pass. You give up soccer and you're dreams to work for us and put a roof over our heads. We younger siblings never know how stress you were and yet you kept you're head up. You may think we may not see your hardwork. But thank you bro!

Why is this so on point? I'm speechless. All the comments the younger siblings made were built up resentments to their own personal problems that they chose not to fix for the better. Change starts with you. It's exhausting talking to people with that kind of mindset. I just stay silent and when the time comes, they'll mature on their own.

"Kuv nco nco nej.. kuv xav noj ib pluag nrog nej xwb" 😭 sometimes.. that's all we ever want with our siblings. To be able to just sit down together and eat like old times when we were young. Nowadays some siblings just bring their own plate to their bedroom or elsewhere and not join the table til everyone is done.

The older brother make me tears up because I lost my father at the age of 15 but I’m grateful to have older brothers and sis who love and care for me and take care of me as a mother and father role. I have a older brother who reminds me that even my father is not here he is my father and will love me as long as he is still alive. My siblings we are all grown and busy we never have time for each other so when we all come together we make sure everyone is there to sit at the table and eat as a family.

I am worried that day will come soon for my daughter. She’s 10 now and she’s always with me. She tells me I’m her best friend, always ask me if we could go on “mother and daughter” days, asking me to go outside to play with her. She is the baby and I’ll admit, I do baby her a lot. I tell her sometimes that when she is older, she’s going to want nothing to do with me. She assured me otherwise but we’ll see.

Truuueee. We live in America where negative forces are in a different form than what we Hmoob are used to so we don't know how to deal with them especially when we don't know our words anymore. Everyday we think life is just life but its actually trying to survive from pride, envy, wrath, sloth, greed, lust, and gluttony. The mom actually displayed it very well, my mom was the same to us too. She taught us to overcome evil through good effort instead of forcing us to do something we don't want to do and it helped, the older brother saw through and spoke up. He sacrificed himself to display the evil they were possed by. Thank you for the video and good luck to everyone's families. - Hnubqubci Vwj

Some words were said especially towards me but I've learnt to forgive and forget as life is too short to hold grudges but try my best to ask my family to come together for one meal. Lack of parenting. For some who lost their parents at a young age doesnt know how to become a parent because they were grown without one. For some that always yell at their kids will one day get yelled at from their kids. Its all how to teach them. As Asians, we grow as a family and as a community. As a parent, you can also grow to start to make them independent.
