Everyone that has read this and watched this video, I'ma sure depression has hit you one time or another. My fellow Hmong community, I have evidenced being homeless more than once. When you become homeless, it's the life's biggest unknown and untold trap. It's almost impossible to intergrade back into the community. Love your family members while their still alive. Don't wait until their funeral to show up and say how guilty you feel for not saying anything or doing something. Never turn a blind eye.

It's hard to believe that this has occurred to so many men's out there in recent years. I think that we, as a community should understand this. If we have a brother/son/uncle/dad going through this type of hard time, we should embrace them and help them get back on their feet. Everyone is valuable, but unfortunately, they are not in some people eyes. Let's help create a better world.

I strongly agree! There needs to be more system/programs out there to help men who is in the need of help. I feel like a lot of them are going to the wrong path due to less help and no one is willing to understand them. Just because they are men doesn’t mean they should bring more to the table everyone gotta eat so it just have to fair or equal up.

This video is very sad and base upon a lot of our community now days. I just wish we in the community have more helps or programs for men who are in need of helps and place to stay. Life can be hard for men and women let just not blame or point fingers at own person or help one and let the other live miserable we don’t know their stories so when they come to us as a sibling or as a community let’s be the best we can and help them and help save them life is short everyone deserves to be happy ♥️. Thank you for the video hope is a eyes open for everyone.

never know until you put on someone's shoes and walk a few steps....to fully understand why they end up in that situation. Some people do it to themselves (50% of them since we came to this country) but the majority is by bad decision not because they didn't know but because they wanted something better for their family. Life is tough but keep pushing forward my Hmong brothers; life about to change into a worst situation in 2024 + do what you can to protect your family

I have taken in family from both sides and i have the same rules for both sides. If you dont do anything to better your life and just sit around constantly... I cant take care of you and my own kids and spouse. Every adult is responsible for their own selves. If your depressed you need to seek professional help and find yourself. Peace comes only from Jesus. I will help my side and my husbands side up to a point.. there has to be boundaries and lines. They have to be communicated to that person as well. If that person doesnt respect your boundaries you laid out then yes.. they must go fend on their own because life is hard for EVERYONE.... not just them. They are being selfish by being a burden on everyone, not you by refusing to enable their behavior. Stop enabling bad behavior that doesnt help that person, it will only make him or her continue in the toxic. They will never see the error of their ways if you keep cleaning it up for them..??

The wife should have a bigger heart. However, I do understand that there's situations where the sibling in law is not safe to live with. I know people who have taken in adult loved ones but that adult becomes aggressive due to their depression, not willing to seek professional help to avoid projecting their trauma to others, and he turned to alcohol. It has come to the point where they became afraid for the safety of their kids. They can't live life and always on guard because the loved one was unpredictable. They find themselves trapped in an emotional cycle due to their acceptance of taking him in and the emotional battle they will have within themselves if they kick him out, after all he is a brother. Hmong culture is a collective community, and people like to talk about things that are politically correct, but never being mindful to particular situations that might not fit in the politically correct lectures. It was a very sad situation for everyone involved. I say, it's ok to take family in, only if boundaries are made clear in the beginning for the well-being of the existing family. Also, when you take someone in, always make it clear to yourself that when you or your family no longer feel comfortable or safe around the individual then you have to be willing to be the "bad guy" and ask the individual to leave within a given time frame. One individual can put a whole family into emotional turmoil. It should be normalized in the Hmong culture that you can still love someone without having to take them in, and no adult is responsible for the life outcome of another adult. Love and grace can still be given without having to sacrifice the well-being of yourself or your family.

You can stay with family but make sure you don’t over stayed your welcome. In this story scenario, 2 months is not long but it’s long if you have impatient sister in law like this one. 😂

At least the older brother knew how to think if it was my older brother he would’ve stayed until my Life fell apart, then he would blame me , for getting married with the wrong woman I believe that as a older brother we should be idol or a role model to our younger ones no matter how hard life gets we should keep working and striving to be better human being , me as an older brother I don’t never want my little brothers and them to look down on me that’s why I work hard every day and I’m always 10 steps ahead to make sure that if they ever need anything , I’m here for them as a older brother instead of a fucking burden, The funny thing is I have a older brother that is just like this guy in the movie so since he can’t take that step to watch over us I’m next in line to make sure that my little ones are good

A couple things to address- the brother is lazy, probably depression. There’s issues he couldn’t resolved in his marriage and that is why he’s in the same predicament. The husband needs to give the brother a time line, 6 months-1 year to move out. The wife needs to be more patient and understanding- what if that was HER brother or sister. I’m okay with helping family out as long as they are not bringing drugs into my home but again- these conversations need to be had. You can not be enablers and allow the brother to stay forever but 2 months has not been long, the wife should’ve been more patient.

The older brother should not come in there in the first place. Ya’ll don’t know how difficult it is to take in adults. Most adult siblings that comes to stay in your basement or on couches are most addicts or alcoholics. Don’t do it if you have kids. They’ll give your kids drugs or alcohol when you’re not looking. Don’t trust them. Your kids n wife don’t need to put up with these bs. Why should they? Heck no.

Can we break the image of cannabis in the hmong community. It's ridiculous. Not encouraging to do it, but if it helps that's cool. And if you wanna do it for fun and everyone else agrees then that's cool. That's the same way as saying if you want to drink alcohol for fun and everyone else is ok with it then that's cool go ahead and drink. If someone hates it, then don't do it. In the modern world, people are changing their views and the way they accept society each day. Hmong needs to adapt too. Because of all the bad practice and illegal trading among the hmong weed grower & seller, it put a bad reputation among this plant. I know many people who had health problems and it has helped them relief those issues. Everytime hmong people smell or hear about weed, they began acting all nasty and so against it. It's no different from going to a gathering full of drunk people smelling like piss & beer. Also people need to tolerate and respect the public by not smoking outside in public and be more discreet. At the same time the hmong people as a whole need to stop seeing marijuana as a dirty money, dirty plant, dirty whatever. Everytime our fellow hmong community see a state that newly legalized the plant, they immediately poop their way there and then the rest of the community would bad mouth their own hmong people. Just because one did not made it successful in the industry, the rest of the hmong people see it as a joke now. Meanwhile the hmong community should as a whole see that marijuana is basically a competitive market product. But the majority would rather talk about the negative side of hmong people and weed... You're not suppose to expect a guranteed success in the business. Hmong people are mostly poor in general because we were poor when our ancestor came to the US. So that brings beginners who began chasing dreams by moving around for the Xa's to sell for a living, they tried because they're not you. They tried because it's their choice. Let them try. I know some who are successful in it, some whole left the first year, and some who never finish and gave up. All we could do as a community is bash these people? Laugh at them because they grow Xa? Hmong people are the meanest people to their own people. Be nice, even if you don't know what's going on. And educate yourself, and everyday keep asking why Alcohol is better legal than Marijuana. I have many family and friends who died while under the influence of alcohol and hitting their love ones. All my stoner fam and friends all I see is them laughing and enjoying a recreational use properly and watch the night on a cozy campfire and talk about life. Idk sista, whether you want your kid daddy to drink & do stupid things or take a thc-infused tea to sleep and have fun at home on a weekend. beer = mob siab slap wife weed = mob siab qhia rau wife everything

Nicely put together. Where is the acceptance line? There is no conformity. We have not seen enough to make such a vision. (It is not the American's condition.) Depression is very real and can take you to the brink of life in the blink of an eye. Hopelessness can be so extreme that the very life has no meaning. Help when you can especially the ones that are close or kin. Put yourself in their shoes so that you can have a sense of what to do. It is hard for them you know, but from your clearer sight, you may just be able to just save their life.
