Lorne Greene - Geronimo
Музыка
Quote from Geronimo:
"I was warmed by the sun, rocked by the winds and sheltered by the trees as other Indian babes. I was living peaceably when people began to speak bad of me. Now I can eat well, sleep well and be glad. I can go everywhere with a good feeling".
Geronimo (June 16, 1829 -- February 17, 1909) was a prominent Native American leader and medicine man of the Chiricahua Apache who fought against Mexico and the United States and their expansion into Apache tribal lands for several decades during the Apache Wars.
Lorne Greene (February 12, 1915 -- September 11, 1987), was the stage name of Lyon Himan Green, OC, a Canadian actor.
His television roles include Ben Cartwright on the western Bonanza, and Commander Adama in the science fiction TV Series Battlestar Galactica. He also worked on the Canadian television nature documentary series Lorne Greene's New Wilderness, and in television commercials as a dog food spokesman.
"Saying that there's nothing quite like hearing Lorne Greene sing is something of an understatement: the man who starred as a patriarch in Battlestar Galactica, Code Red, and, most memorably, Bonanza, has a preposterously booming, uncomfortable-sounding baritone that makes him sound as though he's never quite sure of what's going on around him".

Grandson of two great chiefs be proud of your heritage
Geronimo was only 5' 4" tall. And when a young trooper said, "I thought he'd be bigger." An old frontier scout replied, "He was big enough."

This doesn't sound like singing. more like a narrative set to music.

There are two actors in the world that can tell you that 2×2=7 and you'll believe it's true. The other one is Morgan Freeman.
What a voice. Geronimooooo🎶
When Geronimo finally agreed to surrender to the army, Geronimo asked the general if he would sign the treaty. The general said, "no, Geronimo, the president will.". Geronimo asked "who is the president". The general explained he was the great white father. Geronimo asked where does he live? The general said "in Washington". Geronimo said "then I will NOT sign, only if you sign". The general asked why. Geronimo replied "because all men from Washington are liars!"

Duas lendas
His given name was Goyahkla (“The One Who Yawns”), but he earned the name “Geronimo” after distinguishing himself in Apache raids against the Mexicans.
i remember the song when it came on the radio, poor old Geronimo didn't die the way most people think. all he did was defend the indian way of life. this was their country, not mine.

Nice song, but point of view is dead wrong. Like an Indian Chief said in those days; "The White Man made us many promises. He broke them all; except that he would destroy us....That promise he kept" Read the book "Bury my Heart at Wounded Knee" or listen to the song of Thin Lizzy: "Genocide" (Tekst below)When they try to tell you knowledge is a dangerous thing "it's such a dangerous thing" The people that have it are the people that sin And the people that need it are the people that can never win Let me get you out of here little broken wing There are people round here that are right There are people round here that like to sleep at night There are people round here that go slow There are people round here that don't kindly to the killing of the buffalo When they tear up all the treaties and break up all the plans "they break up all the plans" Did you do your duty and kill on command? Did you know the redman used to roam this land? "he used to roam this land" Now the souls of lost warriors blow across the sands People round here they get it right People round here we like to sleep at night There are people round here that go slow People round here that don't take kindly to the killing of the buffalo, oh no So listen to my story and listen to it well "you better listen well" Listen to the glory of the gory details of the tale I tell Did you know the redman very well? "i used to know him well" Did you know the hunting ground before it became a hell? There are people round here that are right There are people round here that like to sleep at night There are people round here I don't know There are people round here that don't take kindly to the killing of the Buffalo So listen to my story of GENOCIDE How they were hunted and slaughtered till there was no place left to hide Did you know the redman used to hold his head with pride? Till every man, woman and child were destroyed There are people round here that get it right There are people round here that couldn't sleep at night There are people round here I don't know There are people round here that don't take kindly to the killing of the buffalo There are people round here that understand There are people round here that couldn't give a damn There are people round here that go slow There are people round here that don't take too kindly to the killing of the Buffalo (

Same tune as Ringo.
why are all the lyrics to this song wrong ?
These lyrics are a great example of ‘revisionist history’. That being said, I prefer the more practical perspective - “History is written by the winners.”

The greatest Native American to ever live...Sitting Bull was cool, but Geronimo defied the Government in a way that just made that look mild by comparison.
and for that fucking matter all sites have the wrong lyrics
I didn't know "Native American" was one language.

I love this song. But Geronimo was not a bandit or a bad guy. he was a hero and fought against an invading hoard. But i'm happy the white man feared him. That's what you get for the trail of tears
