Another excellent review, thank you Oleg. I must say, I have never found the Miyota movements to be noisy or wobbly while wearing a watch. The benefit of the higher beat movement is preferred, imo. The finishing on the hands is a deal breaker for me, however. I will continue to save my money for the BB58.

I decided to go for a black and white Neptune V3 as soon as they were released it’s bean around 3 months already, and I love it! Sadly I noticed the rough edges on the hands, and the rotor is loud, i don’t think that others can hear it very well but it’s definitely there, I never faced any issues with my clasp either. Overall I’m glad that I bought that watch as my first automatic.

A beautiful looking timepiece. I could put up with its drawbacks for the price. I've just been looking at the Falcon from Lorier for $500 , another great piece. Cheers Oleg and my regards to Mr Bond.

A very fair review of a popular micro brand, Oleg. The points about the hand finishing is valid from the pictures shown. That movement is loud but it’s not something they produce so have no control over. Though they could opt for a quieter hi-beat? I think $500 is pricey. With the customs duty to pay out on top its actually bordering on expensive. Nevertheless it really holds its own next to that BB58 - a watch I love.

Just got mine a few weeks ago. So far I gotta say it was worth the wait and definitely worth the money. Wears light for a bracelet. I can wear it to work as well as with jeans and a baseball cap. The sound of the rotor is louder than my other automatics but not as loud as it appears on the video. The mic really hightens the sound. I will never spend the amount of money 💰 that the BlackBay 58 asks for so yes this is a great alternative at a huge discount. I do worry about it's durability. Time will tell on that. And yes I did notice the rough edges on the hands after watching this video. Not too too bad but yes if you look close enough you can see it. I have the black & gold gilt.

I love mine, I have the blue gilt version and it just looks great with pretty much any outfit. I don't mind the plexi as I have my grandfather's watch that is from the 1960's with the original plexi and its great. what I do mind is the clasp doesn't fully lock when you think it does, u have to press it hard because sometimes it makes a clack noise but it wasn't enough to close completely.

Hey Mr. Oleg. Hey Mr. Bond. I have always had one eye on this watch too. However, I have the 'vintage diver' look covered in my collection so haven't been trying to get hold of one. What I did want to say is this: I am really liking how the industry is circling back to some smaller diameters, especially when the lug to lug is 46mm or more. I have an 8" wrist but can wear a 36mm piece easily as long as the lug to lug is long enough to give the piece its presence. That more streamlined smaller diameter longer lugs look is so much more timeless and elegant. In regards to the mov't : I have the 90s5 in my Tisell Explorer copy and it's nowhere near as noisy. Sure I can hear it if I hold the watch close to my head, but not like how you can hear the Lorier in your review. No wobble either from the Tisell. I think overall the 9 series Miyotas are good. I know that Time Factors chose them over an ETA 2824-2 for a number of Smiths pieces due to a far smaller failure rate and better performance statistically. And those hands are unacceptable IMO, unless you are talking about a sub $100 Chinese piece. You just can't scrimp on a hand set, the one thing you look at closely every time the watch is on wrist. Cheers Oleg. Great review again mate.

I just picked up the gilt dial black version, I had to buy a used one because like you said, they are sold out with in minutes every time the release a new batch. I absolutely love mine and the plexi glass gives it a vintage feel with distortion that you just don't get with saphire. I like your point on the blue dial being 2 in 1. It really does seem to be two different watches in dark and light conditions. Great review

I have a Tisell with the same movement, I'm hard of hearing so the rotor noise doesn't matter. A little vibration on the wrist let's me know it's there. And it keeps awesome time. Win, Win. Thanks for the review, definitely sold on this watch.

Great video Oleg. And even better to point out about the hands finishing (yup. that was bit rough finish..) and clasp matter. The watch is very clean. I meant the layout and design aspects. Sharp looking and generally very well done. As for $500 price tag, Yes, it is pushing the envelope, but there are many other microbrands with NH35 movements with that price range, so it is not that high, IMO. Cool & super cleaning lookin watch. Oleg. thanks for an awesome review.

I have 4 watches with the Miyota 9015 and none of them are as loud as the one in the video. Also, 3 of them are actually running +2 sec and are more accurate than my watches with 2824-2 and SW200. Saying a 2824-2/SW200 is more accurate than a Miyota 9015 is...well, inaccurate. A Miyota 9015 is also calibrated in four positions whereas a standard ETA 2824-2 is only calibrated in two - the tolerances are also almost the same.

Agree, he seems to hugely dislike Miyota's. I have a Miyota 9 series, seiko 4s, 7s and 6R15 series, a Selita. also a few ETAs. The miyota is most accurate just behind the ETA. He actually fails to acknowledge the positives about the miyota 9 series. It's thinness is a technological feat compared to all other Japanese movements in this price range which are a lot thicker Has a 42 hour power reserve vs 38 Selita.. Beats at a smooth 28800 which i'll take any day over a seiko with a slower disjointed beat. In regards to the rotor noise, its more apparent on this watch probably due to the fact the case is less than 12mm thin. He also fails to acknowledge that the 9 series rotor winds uni-directional, but spins bi-directional hence why its makes that mechanical spinning noise which really is a feature, not a problem considering you are getting such an accurate, thin smooth sweeping movement. It DOES not SPIN so aggressively and loud unless you shake it like he's doing. In normal wearing you barely notice it move only on certain wrist movements with a lot of force.

I know lots of people like the Miyota 9015, and it is a pretty great movement for the money. However suggesting it’s a better performer than ETA is a bit silly. I have both and I’d rank the 9015 in between the Seiko 6R15 and an ETA 2824. My 9015 has some positional variance (5 to 10 spd range) and best amplitude is around 270. None of my ETAs have numbers like that. On wrist it’s a pretty good performer, and more consistent than my Seikos, but I also agree that the rotor noise and vibration can be distracting, which is never the case with my Seikos or ETAs.

I have a watch with Miyota 9015. In regards to the ETA and sellita movement watches i own from Sinn, Tudor, hamilton, and the seiko movements. I think the 9015 is extremely underrated. I only own 1 example of the 9015 but its -2 to -5 spd consistently. Its very thin even in a 300 meter water resistant case. I think it's very underrated and a solid performer. Yes my in house movements from tudor, rolex, and Breitling blow it out of the water but that's not comparing apples to apples. Honestly the 9015 in a dive watch is a good thing because you can have a thinner case and the same water resistance. And i don't understand how rotor noise annoys people who enjoy mechanical and automatic watches. It lets you know the watch is alive and is a mechanical object.

I’ll chime in since this is my watch he’s reviewing- I’ve owned/own a number of watches with this movement, but it is loud AF. And you don’t have to do sudden movements like he’s doing in the video, I hear it going all the time on barely anything. My thoughts- the rotor is slightly looser than maybe it should have been thus the reason it seemingly spins more freely and easy than any other 9xxx movements I’ve experienced.

Enjoy your videos as always!! I recieved this watch for my birthday and I have to say, I am VERY PLEASED! I didn't know the noisy roter was a thing until I saw this video.I don't know if the Ortgas took your suggestion about the roter and fix it, but mine is very silent. I have to shake it then quickly put my ear to the caseback to barely hear it spin. Perhaps it's just the one you had? As for the quality of the hands, while my eyesight isn't the greatest, with glasses, they look immaculate. I took a zoomed in shot with my phone in sunlight and the guilted hands still look amazing. I am extremely please with My Neptune and plan on doing some snorkeling with it in a couple weeks to make some new memories with it and my family.

Yep, if you look on their website you'll be met with "Sold Out" but Lorier is a microbrand; they make their watches in two or three batches a year. Just join their waiting list; it's worth it. P.S. You can hear the rotor spinning? Was your father a bat? Joking aside, l've been wearing this watch for two months and l don't think l've ever heard the rotor. It's no louder than my Omega Seamaster 300m... Also, l had a look at the hands on mine through a loupe and they're fine. Could just be your review example?

I own Lorier's Falcon Series 2, which has the same type of hands as the Neptune. Luckily for me, I don't have any bad finishing on the edges on my hands, but then again, my hands are gilt, so bad finishing may not be as easily visible. Regardless, upon closer look, the hands look flawless on mine. It is a shame and surprising to see the bad finishing on the Neptune you featured.

I’ve spoken with one other watch manufacturer about Lorier and Lorier themselves (and their preference for plexiglass). Lorier said it costs too much to get the contour of the crystal to be a “vintage style”. But the other manufacturer said it doesn’t. So I’ve kind of steered away from Lorier’s watches because of their design choices and suspicion that they aren’t telling the whole truth, or that they prioritize cost savings over the customer’s values. Although they are aesthetically pleasing.

I have a microbrand with Miyota 9015 and I don't mind a little bit sound and swirl. It reminds me the watch is mechanical object. Don't you have a watch with chronograph Valjoux 7750 movement? How is the noise there? And how is it priced? The advantage of these Miyotas is you don't have to service them every 5-7 years like Sellitas and ETAs. Miyotas 9series out of the box are regulated in 5 positions and Sellitas are in 3 positions. I would take Miyota 9015 out of the box every time over Sellita SW 200 out of the box. And my 9015 out of box is running +4 seconds per day.

As for the rotor noise I may be a little unique in that I actually like hearing it which tbh isn’t that often anyway. Something about hearing it makes me know I have a mechanical watch on my wrist. It is VERY noticable on this watch unfortunately, besides that I really like the watch. I would prefer a sapphire, but acrylic is next best thing. Some microbrands use laser edged hands, which are generally much better, but they can have quality control issues too. Grind that buckle a little bit too, and version 4 could be perfect.

While I like the acrylic crystals on some watches, like a Vostok, I think at this price point you are buying for longevity and sapphire would be the way to go. Its the only reason I have not already picked one of these up. Also I find it unfair to call watches that are many orders of magnitude apart in price, alternatives. An alternative by nature can go either way and I don't see a lot of Neptune buyers thinking the BB58 is an alternative. A friendly criticism you can feel free to ignore, that's just me.

Agree! i personally prefer acrylic/plexi and would choose that option over sapphire for this watch, but i do acknowledge your point and a lot of people prefer sapphire. I think the V4 Neptune they will probably offer sapphire or plexi and possibly a date at 6 o'clock position. That way attracting more sales.

Hi, great review, thanks, just wandering why comparing it to the bb58, i think it is closer to the omega seamaster 300. But find it great, would prefer saphir cristal too. Agree with you, 500 is too much for the movement proposal.

I've read comments about this movement bring loud , but blimey I could use that as an alarm. One channel extoling the viruses of this watch seems to have glean over this. Why not offer a version with sapphire & let the customers decide? I understand the aesthetic , but I think pride is standing in the way of practabity ( I don't want to keep polishing the watch & be mindful of my arm movement) & profit. Shame.

I don't get why people compare this watch to a Tudor. The case shape is nicer, even though the lugs are prohibitively long looking, I'm assuming it'll not look nice on leather due to a long lug gap. If I'm wrong about that, please enlighten me. But no, this watch doesn't remind me of a BB58 at all. I can envision it as a poor man's SPB143, or an even Poorer man's Oris Sixty Five. The triangles on the dial do remind me more of old-timey Alpinists or the Kontiki's of yore though.

"They say that the acrylic crystal is more expensive than an equivalent sapphire one." My first thought: quick, let someone send a note to Vostok! On second thought: Vostok has been making everything in house for over 50 years and on a very high production, so their production costs might be really down, while buying a small batch of bespoke acrylic crystals, which are quite out of fashion, might be expensive. Who knows? Anyway, a nice watch, apart from the badly finished handsets (personally, I don't like the hands shape, but that's my personal taste). All in all, if you like the watch and you are going to keep it in the long run, the price is maybe a bit high but not unreasonable.

Thank you for the unbiased review. I was very interested in this company for the longest while but became frustrated by their products being sold out when I was ready to buy. A dozen watch purchases later, I have developed my requirements of a watch brand to include availability of the product. Also, that miyota movement sounds much louder than the ones I have.

I agree. No Rolex waiting lines. Being available for purchase is certainly a requirement, and accuracy is just as important as the look. I was getting good looking watches but they weren't accurate. They must be +-2 or better, and Tudor meets that requirement for me.

I personally really dislike their lack of popular colours. This is especially evident on the Falcon line. It's crazy that they don't offer a simple black dial option. Ik they have a gilt version. But the classic black and white is easily the most popular dial colourway.

I respect Lorier's urge to do proper retro flair with acrylic, wanting to follow the historical cache of Hesalite. This Neptune arguably misses out on neo-retro style (beautiful distortions from the crystal) and lands in throwback territory (use of outmoded materials). I can accept 'just use some poly watch' for Vostok Classic offerings or the Timex Q line in part because those are 60s-70s products that happen to be made here & now and don't cost 500$. An Omega moonwatch, this is not.

It is worth about 200 dollars not 500 was mentioned. Also a very noisy watch rotor. The quality was not very good. This is not from me but just what I can remember someone else reviewing this from someone who senf it in, not the watch company itself.
