A couple of ships containing 1000 people made it off with doom guy and that's it there're plenty of empty cities(all of them) on Earth, unlike in halo universe, where only 2/3 of human population(i think there were like ~30 billion people in both inner and outer systems combined) went extinct thanks to covenants 'holy' genocide

Humans I the doom universe are confined to our solar system and maybe the far reaches of it. Of course we can get to hell, but that seems a little wasteful and useless. Humans in the halo univers have expanded considerably and according to the wiki half of humanity has been killed ,around 23 billion. I am surprised that human population is so "low" in the halo universe, considering we have a current population of around 7 billion. The humans in the doom universe are much more screwed than the halo universe, but the doom humans should theoretically not go extinct.

Master Chief was called 'Demon' by Covenants. Doom guy kills (rips and tears) 5 demons every second :D

Here's a fun fact about the Doomguy: His maximum run speed is 819.52 map units / second. Approximately 32 map units is equal to one meter (based on the guy's height in terms of map units). Therefore he runs at 25.61 meters per second, this is equal to about 57.2879 MPH. The current world record for the 100 meter dash is held by Usain Bolt: 9.69 seconds. The Doomguy can run this in 3.905 seconds, 148% FASTER than Usain Bolt. The DOOMGUY is capable of outrunning a Lion, and maintaining that speed indefinitely. Bear in mind that the DOOMGUY can do this with, in all probability, 500 pounds of equipment. Doomguy's Story? Basically DOOM 1 was “Oh shit we’re invaded” then everyone dies except you. Since you can’t fly the shuttle back to Earth to save yourself, you decide to try to clear out the base. You kinda do, except you get ambushed and die. Because the base on Deimos is actually a part of hell now, that’s where you “respawn” in hell. You clear out THAT base and its new commander and actually go to the outer levels of old school hell. Again, you clear THAT shit out, holy shit, and kill the guy leading the invasion on mars. The guy leading Hell basically gives you a teleporter to earth so that you’ll stop messing shit up. That’s right, HELL BROUGHT YOU BACK TO LIFE BECAUSE YOU KICKED ITS ASS. Then you teleport to earth and OH SHIT DEMONS ARE HERE TOO! (AND GUESS WHAT THEY KILLED YOUR FLUFFY PET BUNNY! DEMONS BE SCARED BECAUSE YOU TAKE OFF THE GLOVES AND READY TO RIP AND TEAR A NEW ASSHOLE NOW). Apparently you meet the last few survivors and get them onto a space ship so they can get the fuck out of dodge. The problem is, the base where the launch button is? Overrun by demons. You clear THOSE demons out, launch the ship and save humanity. You’re such a stone cold badass holy shit. Because you’re tired as fuck, you decide to lie down and rest. Then some douche commander says “So yeah, thanks and all. Oh yeah, we found out where they’re coming from. Its your hometown.” So you get the fuck back up. THEN you fight your way to your hometown and find where the demons are coming from. Do you go through the portal? Shit yeah you do, holy shit there are still demons to kill motherfucker. So you fight your way through the SERIOUS part of hell, then kill SATAN. Unless Plutonia/TnT are considered canon. Then its just some bigass guy that’s like Satan’s best friend, and you never kill Satan. And that is why the Doomguy is the single most powerful human in the history of all games everywhere. Even fucking jrpg faggots need a group of 3 people to kill God. By himself. Doomguy does it without magic or friends and kills Satan + whoever the fuck is close to Satan at the time.

You don't need to know the lore of DOOM. Just know it's a hella fun game in which you slaughter demons, and after every level, where your morale might have been lowered, the game just brings you right back up with its epic music.

this is easily the best LORE video and one of the best videos ive ever seen. soooo many little jokes and references packed into such little time. had me dying when i saw the NEDM cat

HERES THE REAL DOOM LORE. (It's from the doom manual and yes it was copypasted) The player takes the role of an unnamed space marine ("Doomguy") who has been punitively posted to Mars after assaulting his commanding officer, who ordered his unit to fire on civilians. The Martian space marine base acts as security for the Union Aerospace Corporation, a multi-planetary conglomerate, which is performing secret experiments with teleportation by creating gateways between the two moons of Mars, Phobos and Deimos. Mars is considered by space marines to be the dullest assignment imaginable. This all changes when the UAC experiments go horribly wrong. Computer systems on Phobos malfunction, Deimos disappears entirely, and "something fragging evil" starts pouring out of the gateway, killing or possessing all UAC personnel. Responding to a frantic distress call from the overrun scientists, the Martian marine unit is quickly sent by ship from Mars to Phobos to investigate, where the player character is left to guard the perimeter with only a pistol while the rest of the group proceeds inside. The marine hears assorted radio messages, gunfire, and screams, followed by silence: "Seems your buddies are dead." The player cannot navigate the ship off of Phobos alone and sees that the only way out is to fight through the Phobos complex. As the last man standing, the player character's mission is to fight through the entire onslaught of demonic enemies by himself in order to keep them from attacking Earth. Knee-Deep in the Dead, the first episode and the only one in the shareware version, is set in the high-tech military bases, power plants, computer centers and geological anomalies on Phobos. It ends with the player character entering the teleporter leading to Deimos, only to be overwhelmed by monsters. In the second episode, The Shores of Hell, the marine has successfully teleported to Deimos. He fights his way through installations on Deimos, similar to those on Phobos, but warped and distorted from the demon invasion and interwoven with beastly architecture. After defeating the titanic Cyberdemon, the marine discovers the truth about the vanished moon: it is floating above Hell. The third episode, called Inferno, begins after the marine climbs off Deimos to the surface. The marine fights his way through Hell and defeats the Spider Mastermind that planned the invasion. Then a hidden doorway back to Earth opens for the hero, who has "proven too tough for Hell to contain". However, a burning city and a rabbit's head impaled on a stake (named in The Ultimate Doom as the marine's pet rabbit, Daisy) show that the demons have invaded Earth, setting the stage for Hell on Earth. The sequel retcons the events of Doom as an alien invasion of the Mars moon bases. In The Ultimate Doom expansion, in the fourth episode Thy Flesh Consumed, it tells that the marine fought valiantly against the hordes of demons that the Spider Mastermind sent through that hidden doorway but ultimately the forces of Hell prevailed in the invasion of Earth. The locales of Thy Flesh Consumed are varied, including a mix of high-tech bases and demonic temples, though the atmosphere appears to be Earth.

rukis1bitchz the issue with that is that the Hell in Doom is considered to be an alternate dimension rather than actual literal afterlife Hell. If you read the Doom novels it's actually explained in the later ones that the Demons he's fighting are actually aliens from this other dimension.

Super man can (at least in his variation of comics) can travel as fast as light, can definitely carry more than 7 thousand times his own weight while maintaining said speed, and is a living weapon with endless superhuman strength and laser eyes, freezing breath and invulnerability. Unless there's Kryptonite around. On mars and its moons there isn't any sooooo... Superman has no challenger here. Or much elsewhere.

The Ironic Troller But hes not Kryptonian, by the "what if" logic i could just say that "if superman was a death god from another dimension and could kill anything by looking at it and the doom guy wouldn't stand a chance." So to be clear I'm basing my counter argument on the facts at hand, from the pool of information available already and not on "what if" factors. I see your point, and hell anything involving Kyrptonite or other Kryptonians would be challenging. But the outcome of said challenges would then be determined by the story writers (as is every battle the man of steel has faced).

UAC made portals, accidentally open gateway to Hell. Demons come out, you go in, come out, go to earth. Kill demons. The end. 1 million views on a video where you just looked at the plot section of wikipedia's Doom entry and cursed the first two paragraphs out to a flash cartoon.

Peter Green not entirely. they left out the fact that the hellspawn have managed to find a way to earth before the mastermind's death (starting doom II) after destroying the icon of sin, hell gained a mother who brought the forces back to mars and the doomguy from I and II is left to forever prevent the forces of hell from ever going back to earth by staying in between both worlds (by a portal) in DooM 64. then they forget to mention that a few years later the UAC has begun to recolonize mars, and after betruger has been possesed by demons after going into a portal to hell and back has he let the hellspawn return to mars where a new marine has to find a soulcube to defeat hell's king: The cyberdemon at an excavation site (DooM III). then months later a scouting team led by another marine has found an ancient artifact deep within the Excavation site where the cyberdemon has been slain, causing the hellspawn to once again return (OMG hell stahp!) but this marine has to return to hell after transferring all the life support energy from the mars facility to go to hell and defeat betruger, but gets mortally wounded (bit and tossed around) and kills betruger in his new form. however the marine succumbs to his wounds, dies and ends up in heaven with elizabeth mcniel after she and other survivors on mars died from the life support being cut. so basically lore only covered the first game

joshzamaki Actually if you play Doom 3 then you'll noticed an ancient tablet that shows the Doom1/2 guy so it wasn't a couple of years. As for Doom 64 is based on after Doom 2 where the survivors tried to bomb-board Moons of Mars with radiation to try kill any remaining demons but one escaped back, eventually resurrected all the demons on Earth. Several generations later Doom 3 guy was born, even Betruger previously mentions that the demons had previously been on Earth. Then there's the alternate universe from the books for classic Doom, Doom 3 but there loosely based on the games.

oh also, doomguy goes to the depths of the underworld, fighting his way through demons and aliens alike for one reason and one reason only... to avenge his pet rabbit

Fromm what I understand, Quake dosen't really have an official story, although there is a fan made one (Seal of Nehahra) trying to explain that movie in 1 minute is impossible...

FrankHorrigan377 Quake 1 has some sort of minor story though im not quite sure what it is, been a while. Quake 2 however has a more noticable story, with updates between major areas and what not

ShatteredPerception We'll see if they even actually do it, I'm actually surprised that DooM got this rather fantastic video, but in all honesty I don't think Quake is going through their minds anytime soon, and if it does get a video, I'll be happier than I actually was when I got the game ;) (but that's not to include mods, those things kept me up for hours ) :)

Multiplayer was kinda weak tho.

I just got Doom 3 BFG edition, so this video was just in time! I'm honestly having more fun with Doom and Doom 2 that came on the disc, though :D

They needed to start this video with the music from the first level. It would have made the opening more recognizable, and the nostalgia-hounds like me would have probably squee'd with joy at hearing it. This is it, for example. doom theme 10 hours
