Thank you! I wonder myself as well. Time will only tell. But it seems to be the “standard” for amateur bookbinders. So I’ll go off those who have done it before and pray to god that it works for mine 🤣🤣

I've seen tons of people use a "split board" but what is it exactly? I assume its two boards glued together that is then slipped over the spine tab and end pages?? It is a replacement for cardboard covers? And how do you tuck the leather into the hallows?

You’re on the spot. Some will use a thin board to glue to the other board. I found that it bends the boards in a bit too much for my liking. So I use heavy cardstock paper to glue on the back. I leave a quarter of the paper not glued. Then slid that onto the notch of the cover I cut out.

How well does the vinyl adhere to the leather?

It sticks really well. The moment you put it on you can move it all around. I’ve made a few bookmarks out of scrap and it bends well.
