Well said in my opinion Moyes has deliberately left us a poison pill as much as he bleats on about leaving us a firm base. In reality we are at best top heavy in all senses of the term.

His first interview he kept saying how he wanted the club to improve and get better and better, not how we are lucky to have him, to dampen expectations and how he has won a European trophy.

Looking forward to the new start new players and better football

Any new manager is a gamble, love the fact that he really wants to be here, got to be positive. This is a new beginning and has to be better than what we had before!

We have to give Loppy a chance especially as Tim seems to be behind him! In Tim we trust! 👍😀⚒⚒⚒

I'm with you, let's all give him a chance to show us what he can do. Massive rebuild needed but this is a huge step in the right direction. Loppy has an impressive CV and he seems genuinely pleased to be joining us. I'm feeling reasonably optimistic about next season now..... COYIs!!!

Too many media pundits (TalkSport et al) completely missing the point when they say that Lopetigui is lucky to replace Moyes at the club. Lazy journalism neglecting to mention that Moyes would not work with Steidten in the new DOF model that needed to be implemented.

Lopetegui mentioned style of football twice in the interview. Now he didn't say a change of style but hopefully that's something that's in his mind. Also interesting he mentioned Tim before he mentioned Sullivan.

Hopefully he will develop youngsters and attract quality

We need to give Lopetegui at least a season and a half before making any judgements = So I`m not bothered if we finish 12th or above next season, but a long domestic cup run would be great!

I've never been so glad to see the back of one manager and welcome a new one. I haven't bought into this recent love-in with Moyes, and I certainly didn't clap him off the pitch in his last game at LS. He was awful for this club, he destroyed a pretty decent squad. He sucked the life out of fantastic players. Squandered hundreds of millions. I don't give him any credit for the trophy. Declan Rice, Fornals, Bowen and Paqueta won that cup. I'm so happy he's gone and our fanbase will not be mocked, insulated or sneered at by this deluded man again. Lopetegui is in a different league. We certainly won't be playing games and be getting battered by 4/5/6 every other game with only 25% possession. I'm right behind him! Come on you Irons!

Listening to the welcome interview, he said different tactics for different opposition , which is 100 times better than what moyes does/did , I think had we had loppy against leverkusen we could have beaten them over the 2 legs instead of Moyes low block , I hope we can hang on in that first leg that failed miserably, , and we proved it in the first 45mins at home

Nice ramble Nick. I share your excitement and enthusiasm for the appointment of Julen Lopetegui as manager. I was a little sceptical initially, but now I'm very happy. Detractors should look beyond his brief spell at Wolves to get a sense of his preferred style of play. He is an excellent tactician and also enough of a pragmatist to employ tactics that will work with the squad and players he has. Ideal for a team in transition: do what works during the time of transition and with a specific style of play to be arrived at when the transitional period is over. It may take time, but with patience, we'll get there. We just need David Sullivan to stay out of footballing matters and all should be well.

Any academy players that are promoted into the first team squad will improve in leaps and bounds training each day with our international’s and new coaching team. As they mature and naturally bulk up and strengthen being in this environment we will see the Noble youth production line start to kick off.

I was very impressed with his interview on the WHU official site yesterday. He seems like his own man and knows exactly and clearly what he wants, and where he wants to go, taking West Ham with him. I'm also glad all the backroom team apart from Xavi have gone, they're ALL tainted through their association with Moyes, so none of them deserved to stay, even Nolan for sentimental reasons. Shame about the FA charging Paqueta yesterday, hope he's found innocent, if not that's £85 mill short in the transfer kitty.

Nick with the breaking news that Paqueta is being charged the conspiracy side of me has taken a look at the current situation, the FA are pushing ahead but to me the timing is a little bit suspect. JLO is now the manager which after Moyes is a positive move but for me the main reason the media and FA love Moyes is because even though we had one and a half good seasons and a trophy they don’t want West Ham up near the top because that doesn’t suite their agenda. A decent manager could upset the top six or seven so they don’t want us having the money to improve our squad over the next couple of seasons and push us up to near the top and that isn’t what they want. Just my opinion but putting it out there.

If we were looking at bringing in an understudy to Alvarez we’d probably be looking at bringing in someone from the Championship. Downes is the best CDM in the Championship, it’s a no-brainer!

If you sign players late you are effectively writing off the next season for the one after, except if those players are any good you are probably just bedding them into the Premier League for their next Club. This is a concept that Moyes and indeed Sullivan never really understood.

He carried on with the same low block to punish the remaining players and only showed a lighter side in the last few games because he knows no one in the premier league will touch him 🤷🏻

My worse case scenario from what I read and the defensive body language in his interview: Even if he only lasts a year or two, we are evolving a structure that allows us to replace someone without having to rebuild the structure. If he brings through a few academy players then we are moving into a golden era. Everything else is a bonus. Feels very well planned and top four is his first aim, imo. ⚒️

Love how gullible fans are when a manager says what they want to hear. A month ago he was distraught that the Milan deal fell through because the fans didn't want him.

Don't think you need to worry about Paq going anywhere now...... probably will be banned for two years.

Will not lie, I absolutely hated the idea of him coming in but after softening and then later listening to his introduction interview am really excited for next season. He talked like a manager who wanted to start and create his own and rewite the clubs history by becoming a force. Loved how he said that he wanted to be here after we knocked Sevuilla out of the Europa League. That really sold me on him. With the advent of FFP/PSR this is the only feasible model for the future, especially clubs that dont have the same revenues as your Utd''s, Chelsea's, City's. Buying players to suit a certain manager will no longer bea viable option especially when managers get sacked left right and centre and then having to sell 3 or4 players and bring in the same over 2/3 transfer windows. A contract extension for Cresswell doesn't represent a complete change of direction. Surely if our Academy is worth anything, we should have someone better than Cresswell already.
