    I've used many different loopers and have worked for decades with various software and DAWs on Windows since 1998. I just bought an iPad Pro and Loopy Pro. This is the first time in my life that I've owned an Apple product, and the reason is because of your creation: "Loopy Pro." I believe this is absolutely the best looper ever, and the settings are incredibly flexible. There has never been anything as well-built as Loopy Pro before. I can confidently claim to have a lot of experience working with software, so yes, you deserve a big thank you. Very, very well done!

    @@ATastyPixel Hi Michael, I'm still trying to figure out one thing I couldn't find out yet. I'll take a chance on asking you here directly: Let's say I'm recording the rhythm on the first track in "multi mode." Then, I let it loop for a while. Next, I record the guitar on track 2 in "single mode." I let it loop for a while as well, and I do the same thing for track 3 (in single mode). But then, when dubbing the second track with the bass (an octave lower), I want to be able to directly dub track 3 with the bass right after track 2 has just finished dubbing, like a dubbing continuity from track 2 to track 3. I think this should be possible with only three buttons, isn't it right? I mean, with a MIDI foot controller

    What a brilliant tutorial for new musicians. What is so important here is you can actually visually see what buttons Micheal is pressing, thank you, So many other tutorials for loopy neglect to do this just saying press here leaving you guessing where here is? that can be so frustratingly difficult to newbie’s leaving you rewinding twenty times to try and catch a clue. On the downside I do know quite a lot of more advanced musicians who can not use loopy pro due to the limitations it imposes when choosing bars and time signatures that go beyond the normal or into the twisted twilight zone, this was actually easily achieved in loopy HD that could loop exactly what was recorded IE if you had a piece in 13 /8 timing it would loop round in 13 eighth notes! another example at 4.48 seconds of this video it is said you can set the bars to whatever you like but this is no longer the case with odd numbers 3 ,5 7, etc. now unavailable that’s unfortunate as a lot of new musicians are extremely interested in taking music beyond the traditional time frame. I agree the majority of musicians are definitely not Frank Zappa would never need to go beyond compound timings and play happily with sweaty hands 😂 As a percussionist who hopefully accurately strikes on the downbeat, like most drummers and guitarists who should be able to do so perfectly, the ability in loopy pro to trigger on the downbeat is essential and is definitely the first default setting that has to be removed or changed back. Fortunately, loopy pro gives us the options to customise to our particular taste. It is really important to be able to get that first loop to be completely accurate and I would be interested in other musicians settings to achieve this. What is your method? Guitarist, for example, may like to use audio threshold recording but there are so many variations available. It can get quite daunting as to what would be the best way. What’s yours?

    I am still missing one feature request i posted months ago (which is a must for boss rc505 users)😢 which is to be able to have different quantization for first recording and overdubs, so we can make like boss rc505, in which first recording has auto count in and out, but after that, subsequent overdubs start and stop recording right away when tapping the donut (right now it will wait for the loop quantize, and doesn’t allow you to quickly add an extra sound to your loop, the way that loop artist do) Anyways it is impressive how many options we already have, keep the good work

  • @ATastyPixel

    @ATastyPixel

    Жыл бұрын

    I was about to protest that this is indeed already possible, but after playing with it for awhile I think I see what you mean - you can’t use the one trigger for both recording the first loop and going in and out of overdub with no quantisation. You can do it with two buttons, but we need separate actions at the moment. I’ll have a think about how best to make that work - have you added this to the roadmap already? (roadmap.loopypro.com)

    @@ATastyPixel i see it implemented the same way you can define different settings for colors than the main clip settings, that is, with a check box in the main clip settings under recording quantizatiom settings that says something like “Apply different settings for overdubs” and when activated below you show the same controls for setting auto count in and out etc, but if checkbox is unselected overdubs behave the same as Recording settings

    Hi, Michael, thanks for these vids. Do you think you could do a video on how to mapping out a basic rock song (let’s say, a b & c section) using, say, guitar/bass/drums? In the timeline, so the loops (e.g. section A guitar, followed by section A bass, etc.) are all planned out but you can “re-perform” it live, hands free, by getting counted in and recording the preset loop parameters in sequence again all the way thru the layers and sections to the end. I think if LP users can master this in a basic way it will really open up the insane level of power this app possesses which no other software does. Thanks.

I'm interested in small or even supersmall unsyc pieces of audio captured and played during the performance. I also want to know if it is possible to start recording the loop with the fingerpress (as usual) and start playing it back just when I release the finger (similar behaviour in the old digidelay pedal from digitech, the only one I know that does it), to obtain very short loops, with a kind of freezing effect. @@ATastyPixel Thank you Michael for getting back to me on this. I was able to get LaunchPad Pro MK3 to play an AUV3 Synth on Loopy Pro. Though it would only play the first of 2 synths I had assumed were midi channel 1 and channel 2. Turns out, that is NOT the case. You dont have midi channel selection and setting capabilability on Loopy Pro, do you? Cause if you did I should be able to set midi channel 1 on LP Pro to control Loopy pro channel 1 synth and set channel 2 on LP Pro to control channel 2 synth on loopy pro. Well shoot I was really hoping to make Loopy pro be my AUM replacment. I’m guessing AUM level of channel routing is a feature request. Bummer.

    There basically isn't one... I tested it a couple years back during development and got something like 128 playing clips on my iPad Air 2 going before I got bored and stopped making more. The main limitation is running AUv3 effects, rather than playing clips.

    Class! Thanks for the reply. My idea is to have loopy running on an Ipad sitting in a case, closed under a fader fox PC12. If i could get all the pots configured to midi, i could mix stems and loops on the fly, like a pot luck system mixing and matching along with my live set. The ipad would be like the hidden brains for my PC12, adding layers and drum loops to my euro rack / octatrack setup. @@ATastyPixel

    Someone please let me know how to record multiple loops without the previous loops playing onto the new loop I'm recording? Is there a setting in the mixer of loopy pro? Help!

  • @ATastyPixel

    @ATastyPixel

    Жыл бұрын

    It sounds to me like you're perhaps recording with the device's speaker and the internal mic. You can limit feedback this way by using the built-in echo cancellation system (you should see the prompt to calibrate it at top right), but this is a very suboptimal way to use any looper, because the mic is going to capture the output from the speaker. You should be using either headphones, or a decent-quality cardioid mic that rejects noise.

    Thanks 🙏 but no, I'm recording into loopy pro with a mixer and an electric guitar plugged in. If I have drum and bass going on two loops and I try to record my electric guitar, it picks up the bass and drum from the other loops. It's not a microphone issue. Please help! It just configured wrong I think.

    On my iPhone when I return to "default settings and use a mic 🎤 it works fine but with my Soundcraft mixing console going direct into my iPad I've been having problems with tracks recording onto the track I want to record a new instrument on. @@PJmusica Okay - I'm afraid I'm not familiar with that hardware, but I have heard of some hardware that does feed the output back to the input. You might need to contact the support folks from Soundcraft to get some help maybe? You'll be able to see for sure if you start something playing in LP, then you see it showing up on the input channel.
