That's awesome. My dad grew up on a farm in rural Canada and I played this as a kid. I can imagine u rushing back after chores to boot up the computer. Those were the good ol days, even if it was boring on the farm.

I think this game is the earliest time I can remember where I REALLY wanted to drink the fictional sodas. They just look so damn good...

Believe it or not, i learnt my first sentences in English playing this game when i was 5 ish. I had to look for every single word in a dictionary. I'm 28 now, i am spanish and had to emigrate to the UK. Thanks videogames XD

My little sister loved this game and used to play everyday in our old 486 PC (It was early 90's and we also used to argue about who uses the PC first... I used to play games like Stunts or Prince meanwhile she loves to play Commander Keen) Unfortunately she passed away in 2005 due to unexpected heart failure. Years later finally found a copy of Commander Keen 4 in order to keep my sister's memories. If one day have my own children perhaps they would play it !

Commander Keen 4 n' Prince of Persia 1989 were the 1st 2 games I ever played when I was a kid and until this day I still believe these games are some of the best games ever made.

Man, I actually forgot that this game even existed before hearing about it on Bethesda conference. Just hearing the music and the sound effects brought me way back when I played this game at my cousins house in the 90s. Very nostalgic!

the more levels you play, the more you get used to id's style of hiding secrets. this one can be noticed because of the odd gap in the ceilling (it looks different from every other edge in this room) and the fact that every first level from keen 4 - 6 have hidden extra lives

Love this game. I still have it on my computer 20 years later

I played this game so much as a kid but was never able to figure out how to get to the secret level. Cool to finally see it after all these years.

I LOVED the Commander Keen games as a kid! I never completed a single one, but this vid has inspired me to go back and finish them

And Commander Keen (Billy Blaze) has been named after his grandfather BJ Blazkowicz (Wolfenstein 3D). In the new Wolfenstein: Youngblood (2019) game you play as one of BJ's and Anja's daughters (they're twins). Could one be Keen's mom?

I was today years old when I noticed the trippiness of this game...Crazed mushrooms and trees that look like they just lit up LOLOLOLOL Such a CLASSIC

I haven't seen this game since I was a kid! I used to play it all the time! This means so much to me! Thank you for posting this. It has made my heart so happy. I actually watch it as I fall asleep, it brings the comfort of memories of a simpler happy time.

Played this a lot as a child. Addictive game because it was just challenging enough without ever having a part that you just got completely stuck on. Never in a million years would have figured out how to get to the secret pyramid. Wouldn't have played this in over 20 years, thanks for the memories.

Dude, it's 2024 and Ive only just found this channel and this video! Ahhhhh so many memories. I lived in a small town in Australian suburbia in the 90s and me and my neighbours kid would play this for hours and hours! We managed to get Aliens Ate My Babysitter (Keen 5 or 6?) on demo but it only played to level 3. I spent years wondering about that game. I also begged my parents for a pogo stick and I got a green two handled one in 1992. I literally jumped and played with it till it fell apart by 1999 😅😅😅 Thank you for this long play. Brought back happy times ✨🤗

I played that with my best friend decades ago. No worries, no bad news, no shit in media, just plain innocent fun.

This was my very first videogame.

I always loved the sound of those dew drops or tear drops or what we they are. And now the stoned trees are making me laugh.

I loved this game. Brings back great memories.

FUN FACT!!! The Commander Keen has the "Standard Galactic Alphabet" that's actually the words in the Enchanting Table from Minecraft 'coz Nocth was a fan so he added it.

this was one of my favourite games as a kid. this, Agent Sam, Bioshock, Duke Nukem 2D and Cosmo and that one with the kid in the haunted house with the slingshot. God so much nostalgia. thank you so much for this

Many thanks for your upload, arouse many good memories - direct home from school with classmates, down in the basement and handing out joystick right and left .. Even parents had to give a helping hand, floppy disks were not always the easiest to understand back then. Tomorrow I'll definitely get it on Steam! So cool to see this again.

Same, I think some of those sounds were actually better on the internal speaker. A lot of the 'real' sounds here are kind of too subtle.

Legendary computer game. I played them all from invasion of the Vorticons to Aliens ate my baby sitter. This Episode I remember was shareware, we had it in school an everyone with a PC at home seemed to have a copy of it. best game ever!

I can imagine that Commander Keen 7-9 would have been created with the Wolfenstein 3D engine as well with the Wolfenstein 3D palette. Have at least read that they should have VGA graphics and triple-parallax scrolling.
