Dunno if it's the same in other markets, but here (in Sweden) the GT is the only trim that gives you the "Highway assist" (it is available as an extra in the "Allure Pack"), which honestly is one of the better systems I've tested, it compares very well against the Volvo/Polestar system. The 11kW charging is standard here across all trims. The reduction of headroom from the panoramic sunroof is much more noticeable in the rear.

Derek, I love your optimism, but I am not so sanguine and I do not believe people truly desire SUVs but that marketing departments are VERY effective. That being said, I did what you suggested and called Fiat USA about the new 500e. The person I spoke with sounded extremely skeptical and also ignorant about my inquiry. I bet she could hardly contain herself from pushing a diesel pickup truck.

Thanks for the review, Derek! 208 looks like a solid car and the warranty is impressive. It would be great to see how different driving modes affect the range though. In other words, does it make sense at all to drive in sports mode only and enjoy the performance, or it’s simply a feature to use once or twice because it cripples the battery life way too much? I have sports mode on my gasoline car but use very rarely because it makes it too expensive to drive because of the high fuel consumption. Considering how cheap it is to charge an EV, sports mode only driving might be an option granted the battery life remains adequate.

@@evgenygrishin1726 The Sports mode makes the throttle more responsive and gives the full 136hp. I find it a little too responsive for traffic or city driving as it makes it a little jumpy, but it's good for roads or driving styles where you want that responsiveness. The other two modes limit the power delivery and soften the throttle responsive to keep the power to the motor more economical, in the Eco mode you definitely notice the power limit. I don't know if it changes the steering weight, if it does it's very minimal. I'm fairly sure nothing changes in the suspension/damping, but it's fairly stiff as standard. I leave mine in Normal unless I'm up the mountains on twisty stuff and nearly never use the Eco setting.

Other than that a few longer journeys, but all ahowing roughly 50% of the range the car shows. Should I have this checked at dealership, or is there anything I can do to improve this please. Thanks! I am currently debating a 208 along side an ioniq. I love the aggresive cockpit (the flip style buttons) style and the 3D (and HUD with the ones I've seen so far) dash. I'm not to fond of the body shape, while the ioniq has the problems on the other end. I love the body, but not too fond of the interiour. in practical terms they seem to do roughly the same to my understanding. Ioniq would be cheaper to get a hold of but the peugeot seems to stretch the low end of my budget for one who wants their moneys to stretch. And while my license is not far away. Having a concrete idea what I would like is useful. A third choice is the VW e-golf while does the money dance well. It's not something (to me) that jumps out at the car park and goes " That's right, you heard me. I'm electric!" Over the years I have developed a " Not just some face in the crowd" mentallity so being able to stand out a bit more while having a bit of "Agressive class" with my car would be great.

I think fuel prices have no connection with Electric Cars. A number of manufactures are no longer using rare earth minerals. Poor Range? Electric Vehicles unlimited range. You just need to fill them up more often which is a small price to pay for clean air. Batteries from electric cars can be used in battery storage and have 2nd and 3rd life applications. I think you've made your mind up and can only see negatives that you want to see. Can you admit any positives? We need to stop burning stuff. I do lots of short trips but less than 10,000km per year so the calculators are sharing I would save less than €1000 per year going EV. The current balance of purchase price versus annual savings doesn’t add up for me to go EV just yet. Very true about the camera being left on the side of the road.
