Long term review of Holosun SCS

Long term review of the SCS. Overall great optic. I can’t kick it too much given the value and durability. Definitely would recommend.

    @@americanpatriotdefense8988 Well I appreciate it. Moving from a P365 to a Glock 19 and wanted an optic. This review pretty much made my mind up.

    I’ve had mine for almost 2 months now. Love it! The only thing I would like is to have the option to dim. It does have the option to brighten under low light but not dim in any light. I’ve put about 300 rounds through it and the screws haven’t budged (15 inch pound of torque). And I haven’t turned it off since. Love the solar internal battery.

    I agree. This was my biggest issue with the optic was not being able to dim the emitter. It was always bright enough, but there was times that I needed it to be a little less bright. I never turned any of my dots off. I just change the battery once a year if it requires a battery that is one good thing about the SCS no worries about a battery.

    I have the same dot but non-LEO and in green mounted on a Glock 19 MOS gen 5. My only complaint is that you can't adjust the brightness and it tend to be a little too bright indoors with artificial light. I do have a severe astigmatism. Outdoors and in low light the auto adjust seems to work great. Great video.

    Good review, thanks. On guns that are milled for optics and have suppressor sights (M&P 2.0), are the suppressor sights making it hard to pick up a target with the dot due to them being a bit taller?

  • @americanpatriotdefense8988

    @americanpatriotdefense8988

    4 ай бұрын

    Thanks! So, the suppressor sights will just be a full cowitness or taller s o it clutter up the optic window, which isn’t ideal. Lower 1/3 is the preferred and some people don’t even run BUIS now days. I don’t have personal experience with full suppressor high sights in this optic. However, I do on a RMR and I didn’t like them on that and this optic sits much lower than a RMR.

    So this would feel better on a subcompact model, given the small window size? I'm waiting on the CZ P-10 version to release and my S model might be perfect since I didn't want a large profile optic. Thanks for the video!

    It’s a full size dot, but it sets lower. I really think it comes down to shooters preference. I like large windows, that being said I never had an issues finding the dot with the SCS. P-10 would be a great gun for one.

    Great review, had similar experience with A SCS VP9 . perfect fit , best auto adjust its really quick. Daylight and good weapon lighting is where it performed best. But most of my range time is 6AM and had too much blooming when lighting was low. For identifying accurate shots beyond 7 yards was not safe. With A light turned off I could not take my shots. I dont know if its the glass or if they just dont calibrate for low light .

    I think the sensors need some more refinement. Dot brightness is so individual based. So it could be “good enough for everyone” type of mindset.

    Charge, however we know battery’s degraded over time. So only time will tell how long the battery will truly last. I think by the time the cells go bad most people with either get a new dot or a new gun. Just my opinion.

    Ya the biggest thing is how much did it cost you to have the screw removed the time it takes to call them blah blah blah so ya they should recall all of them and give better screws.

  • @americanpatriotdefense8988

    @americanpatriotdefense8988

    5 ай бұрын

    I can see that, I was lucky as it happened while I was at a very nice facility. So the cost and time was very minimal. Cost was free and time was my lunch. But that’s typically not the case. Idk if it’s happening as often now though, so it could be rectified.

  • @americanpatriotdefense8988

    @americanpatriotdefense8988

    yes, the solar cell charges every time it hits UV. I am afraid to say unlimited because batteries degrade over time and so do soar cells. I would say eventually one would have to send it in. Now, how long will that be, who knows we still haven't seen the battery life end of 20K hours since release. I wont be the one to find out.
