Holosun SCS mounted to Glock Gen 5 MOS

I like my dots mounted directly to the slide when possible, for what I think is less points for failure. Also, one of my requirements on a carry gun is to be able to co-witness with the normal sights. The SCS from Holosun comes in an MOS version that directly mounts to the Gen5 MOS Glock slide. It trades in the replaceable battery for an internal battery that is recharged using an embedded solar panel. Run time on a full charge is said to be 20000 hours and that it can charge from indoor lighting. There isn't a manual brightness adjustment. Instead it auto adjusts based on the surrounding lighting conditions. If you don't like the auto selected brightness you can override that for 30 minutes by short pressing the only button the dot. I currently only comes in green, Holosun said they couldn't get the red dot to meet their requirements for battery life. I'm going to do another review after I shoot this setup and carry for a few weeks. Here you'll find the overview, unboxing and install of the sight on a Glock Gen5 G19 MOS.

I just bought the Holosun SCS MOS-GR for my Glock 19, there are a few nice updates to the new ones. 1. It's now "shake to wake", no need to hit a button to turn it on. 2. Locktite is already applied to the screws it comes with. 3. 12-15 foot pounds of torque should be applied with mounting screws. I hope that helps, great updates to this optical site!

The one I have has the shake awake feature but it is auto brightness. You can hit the button once and it overrides it but it makes it max brightness for a bit. I will say that the auto brightness on this optic is the fastest and most accurate I've used to date. Thanks for the info on the one you got. Holosun is setting the bar for innovation and price lately.

@@southeastwhitetails I made a mistake in saying that after reading your comment, the ARE auto adjust like you said, which is very nice. I will take that part out of my comment from earlier, I didn't realize that nice feature, but you still adjust brightness with one quick hit of the button.

@@southeastwhitetails No issue with battery. It's odd how well it works without being in the sun. I carry this gun concealed in conjunction with my employment. So far, so good. • @southeastwhitetails

I don't even turn it off. It charges from both natural light and artificial light. So putting it on my night stand with the lamp on seems to keep it charged. When the lights are turned off and it gets dark the reticle adjusts the brightness to the lowest setting and that saves batteries. How long the internal battery lasts is something nobody could have tested yet since it hasn't been out for years. I've read everything from 7 to 10 years and even potentially forever. Nothing lasts forever so I don't believe that. Bottom line is that I trust it from my experience and I like the no plate needed for mos attachment. On mine the auto brightness adjustment is better than any other optic I've ever used. I really like this dot. But don't take advise on life saving equipment from someone on KZread. That's my advice 😆

I just took mine outside in the sun then walked into a utility closet with 0 light. I saw the reticle step down but it never went off just got really dim. I think that must be how it works. If you want to turn it off you should be able to cycle through the reticles and then the last click will turn it off. On mine long presses cycle reticle and one short press overrides the auto brightness and makes the reticle bright for a bit.
