I when I calculate the length of time.. the department I chose takes about six months. I think it’s great in some respects because it gives you plenty of time to prepare it for each step. At the same time, it does require a lot of mental endurance and patience. Those are things I think I will definitely need as I follow through my career as a police officer. I’m very happy that it’s difficult to become a cop. You don’t want just anybody on the streets with a gun and a badge.

I started my process back in March 2023, I do have a letter of pre hiring but I am still waiting for a couple more things. Police academy here I come!!!!

Yes that's fine but you are going to need to explain why and they will still try and contact them most likely.

There are programs in Illinois for non citizens however you need to check the website and ensure your current status makes the requirements.
