    Qimirs shop wasnt his, he stole it from someone he killed, he implies it in his first scene 😮 Also, torbin killed himself... She didnt kill him This episode was acc rlly good but def too short. but idc bc we are getting lightsaber fights next week!! While watching, my mum said this is the most star wars star wars shes ever seen and I have to agree. Even the music is Star Wars without using John Williams themes.

I don’t believe he will win, but I really enjoy listening to RFK Junior quite a bit. I’m not a Democrat but I think he really cares about the US. I enjoy that. He is an intellectual and I enjoy listening to podcasts. sorry but when you said that it just kind of reminded me of him because I’m not a Democrat, but I enjoy him and his discussions

    I appreciate your words of wisdom at the start, Shane. Criticism is one thing, but it's clear that there are many people who are simply on the hate bandwagon for this show. It's making it hard to have any actual conversation about it. I don't think people are wrong for feeling concerned about stuff like creating life through the force, but I think it's a bit early to write off the show when we still don't know much about how it went down and it might be revealed in future episodes. And now people are mad that Ki Adi Mundi is in the show because it contradicts his birthdate in Legends. I guess people forgot that Legends material is currently non-canon? Though it is a bit weird to include him of all people, given the lore he had in Legends, and his dialogue in Phantom Menace lol

    I think this was my favorite episode so far. Pretty cool stuff. I’m also 95% sure Qimir is the Sith Lord. I also saw somebody suggest that “to kill a Jedi without a weapon” you turn them from being Jedi, like turning them to the dark side. They are no longer a Jedi. Kill the dream. I think this is why Qimir is pushing her about what it could mean as a test, trying to get her to figure it out on her own

    This is why I follow you Shane and this channel, you guys always keep it real. I agree with most of what you said overall I like the show and think we should wait till it wraps up to see the story it tells, although I am really worried about the retcons such as Mundi in this episode and if anything interferes with the Plagueis novel.. Even though that’s not technically canon it’s some of the best of Star Wars imo. Also as much as I’ve tried to stay away from it, the interviews from the show-runner are troubling as well, seems like she’s more concerned with pushing her own ideology than telling a good story, hopefully I’m wrong though.

    All of those things got “hate” by a certain online demographic when they were releasing and the hate only stopped when general audiences and/or fans of the franchises made it vocal that they liked the product. The truth is that those types of people who make a living by drumming up outrage will do so no matter the actual quality of what’s being consumed. Though of course it’s better to avoid the type of outlets that engage in such hogwash then to bring attention to them

    Shane that was a very mature and stoic response to the turmoil of this show, and I respect you for it. That being said, we went through this process and people are just sick of it. Star Wars is being hijacked by the same ideologies that are hijacking pretty much everything and if you're critical about it, you're called names and discredited and your voice and opinion is rejected. This is in line with Marvel and Snow White and many others. There's no place for the hatred and discrimination that comes with these new ideologies. I believe in the power of the consumer and will not support the direction they are taking us. The only reason I'm seeing any part of this show is to watch and support you.

    The creators of this show are definitely doing a disservice to how people view the show with their statements From saying misinformation like “Anakin blew up the death star” And also blaming fans for the low reviews because “Star Wars is a male dominated fandom who don’t like female leads” (to paraphrase) which is just such a weird way to bring up the criticisms people have with the show. Especially since you have, as you said, House of Dragon which is a show with majority of the cast being women in power and it is an amazing show with great writing and people love it. Then you have Fallout, a franchise that has even more male fans than Star Wars and it’s show, with a female lead, is beloved by fans and non fans and has basically been given the label of this is how video game adaptations should be with how many people love the story and writing (i even showed it to my mom who doesn’t play games or know what fallout is and she loved it it was crazy how much she loved it) This whole series has been a bag of worms with the viewers and the people making it. From fans upset at the writing to the creators blaming the fans. This show is not for me. I’ve watched along with your reactions and have just decided it isnt something i would find seriously entertaining for myself but that doesnt mean other peoples view on it are invalid. Anyones allowed to like whatever they like. There things i do think look cool such as the end of this episode having the master guy come down like a ghost then ignite their saber and throw her to the side with two fingers then force blast push all the jedi. That looked awesome

    @DrewMack-oj3lh i was just giving an example that sometimes whenever a piece of media isnt doing well and has female characters as prominent rolls in the story, creators of said media would often accuse the fandom or people who arent fans of being sexist because of the prominent female characters. While there are people like that, it should not be the thing a creator falls back on when their media isnt doing well instead of just reflecting at their creation and seeing where they couldve done better and improve. I do not think the writing in Acolyte is good. (It made me laugh hearing Mae say “my loyalty is to my sister” or something like that when the last time she saw her sister she locked her in her room and set the door on fire cause she wanted to be a jedi) I also think the marketing team is not doing a good job with it’s selling points. This is less about fandoms and more how the creators react to criticism. When a show with prominent female/minority group as main leads does well that is a good showing of good writing when people love it as is everything. But when people do not like it cause of the writing the creators will most of the time accuse the fandom of being racist or sexist cause of it instead of just taking in the legitimate criticism and ignore the actual sexists and racists cause their opinions shouldnt matter cause they have a hate biased against that stuff

  • @namecomingsoon9517

    @namecomingsoon9517

    25 күн бұрын

    @DrewMack-oj3lh that wasnt my point. The toxic minority of fandoms should just be ignored. They don’t add things to conversation and often their criticisms are invalid. Again. I do not like Acolyte for it’s writing. But i laugh when people say “fire in space broke star wars” like that has been a thing since the beginning. The death star blew up in a fire ball. Those criticisms dont add anything to discussions. Creators are allowed to call them out but for the most part, whenever they get criticized for their work they tend to just grab onto the toxic minority instead of the people who have valid criticisms on their work. Piling the people who just want to critique the work with the people who are toxic towards it. They can call out the toxic people all they want but don’t act like they are the ONLY people who critique things Even people who arent the creators of a property will lump together people who critique X media with those who are toxic to X media. And i just think this is unfair way to treat the fans who are just upset with the product

    I think you've made some great points. It's really the gaslighting and the game of moral chicken they play at Disney that really turns off the masses. The powerful women you've listed exist and are accepted as truth and that is what truly shapes opinions. Star Wars itself is already full of powerful women in leadership roles. There is a correct way to do what they are trying to do and HOTD is a perfect example.

    @DrewMack-oj3lh I didn’t read this whole thread yet, but I will say this about the Game of Thrones fandom. I was in the biggest reaction channel on the Internet blind wave during the entirety of that shows run. So we had a Game of Thrones forum, and we also went to a Game of Thrones convention. I can tell you that when they see something that they don’t like they are probably just as bad or worse. They are both comparable in terms of the different populations of people who like the shows. The meltdown I saw from people online thrown my way or on my forum for that channel was seven of the most heinous vitriol. Also, I would say being in blind wave and also being in this channel I know for a fact and analytically that there is a ton of overlap between the two fan bases.

    I think a big thing is that people are making assumptions to be negative about the show. For example with episode 3, I saw so many references to lesbians and I cannot understand where that came from. They are a coven of witches. Witches are typically female. Not once did I see a pair of witches holding hands, share a kiss, we didn't see Mother Koril and Mother Aniseya wake up in the same bed, there was no scene with a rainbow flag in the background, NOTHING. And yet, I saw so many people talk about the Force being used by lesbians to have kids. Mother Koril carried them (like a surrogate) and Mother Aniseya made them (married couple looking to have a child). Nothing about lesbians. They're imagining things to be angry about and it's just... Why?!?!

    Your point is well made and I too am frustrated with the anti-LGTBQ+ rhetoric especially when the show is not really showing anything hardcore. They didn't even kiss. SMH at people so sensitive to how people different than them live their lives. I enjoy diverse casts and other points of view. I have friends in the LGTBQ+ community and lived and worked in San Franciso for 7 years many of my co-workers were gay. My life has tought me that all people are interesting, especially from other cultures and sexual preferneces and I hate the hate. It's disappointing. If there is a place where people that don't fit in should fit in it's Star Wars. SMH at the anger it's very dissapointing.

How? It doesn’t even compare. The writing is trash, there are no real stakes, it’s boring slow moving, looks cheap and the acting is mediocre. How is this a good show?

  • @3rdstreetreactions

    Hey man, yeah I really loved X-Men 97 and I’m looking forward to the next season. When I think of Star Wars and I think of excellent writing, they don’t always go together you know what I mean? Right now, we are judging the story in the dialogue and the structure without having the ending. If I just saw a couple scenes in the middle of revenge of the Sith, I might be like “wow this show is kind of weird and the dialogue is really kind of icky.” But when I watch the whole movie and then I watched the movie within the context of all the other movies. It’s literally my favorite movie ever. I’m very biased. I’m a Star Wars fan. I love the universe and I am so blessed in so many many ways because of Star Wars so I want it to be good and I’m rooting for it. I’m definitely politically very different than the creator of the show, but I try not to let that affect how I feel about the show. Despite what a lot of people said before it came out, I don’t see the biggest push on those side of things. I don’t think the show looks cheap. Actually one of my favorite shows the Obi-Wan Kenobi show in someways actually looked cheaper, especially on Tattooine. My opinion might completely change when the show wraps up, but you know let’s just hope that it ends well and doesn’t ruin anything from previous canon! I don’t love it and I don’t hate it yet so let’s just wait and see man. Much love - Shane
