London Mayor Reelection: Disaster for Car Culture & Local Economies

Автокөліктер мен көлік құралдары

I didn't want to make this video. I hoped I wouldn't need to. But several people have asked for my response to the potentially catastrophic London 2nd May 2024 Mayoral election result for any Londoners that own and drive cars. What do I think of what happened? What do have to say about it? It's in this video. I'll say it now and that will be the end of it. The fight for motorists' rights failed and failed miserably. This is democracy. The results have to be accepted.
As I sit in the car for which I have to ration drives, I explain why the recent election results could spell disaster for London's car culture and impact local economies negatively. This video combines data analysis, personal insights, and expert opinions to provide a comprehensive view of the future landscape in London.

I've had my Landrover 6years it's diesal which I'm happy with and spent over £5k on rebuilt transmission and complete new suspension So have about £10k invested in it. How can I find a replacement when Khan has made my car worthless a 12:21 nd his scrap scheme only wants to pay £270 😂😅 to rub salt in the wounds he wants then to DONATE my Landrover to Ukraine, very generous of him. I would Broadley agree with you about who did or didn’t vote in London. On that Saturday afternoon I sat with 7 other truck drivers when the predicted results came in saying that Khan would win . When I told my colleagues there was shall I put this politely ? Derisive comments . One of the drivers present made a comment about the Asian vote and said that all the people from Asian background he had spoken to said they couldn’t stand Khan either ! I think vote apathy and middle class thinking got him back in ! The what I call Brompton brigade of short sighted self righteous individuals who think that the bicycle is the answer to everything . Probably in London 90% of the time the push bike or public transport ( when working ? ) is . Till you want a weeks worth of shopping for your family or you need to go to the tip etc the list goes on . What these individuals don’t take into account is NO city is an island and all city’s relay on a logistics support network often-based outside of the city . This is where Khan policies could well founder ? You see that a lot of companies have based themselves on the outskirts of London in Essex Hertfordshire etc but now inside the extended ULEZ so there workers are subject to ULEZ restrictions on what they drive so PPM or further restrictions on fuel type etc will not necessarily make people change there vehicles particularly those that have already bought new ICE powered vehicles to comply . Most might think is it worth it particularly those near to retirement age who will be looking at their financial situation and wondering if paying out for another vehicle versus there retirement fund/ pension makes sense ? The younger ones may seek work outside the zone ? So where will this leave the company inside the zone ? Where will this leave the supply chain? If you want evidence of supply versus demand just think back to the lack of fuel tanker drivers a few years back !

@sMansGuitarsVery well said. This is a British problem when it comes to politics. People are either ignorant of consequences of their votes or are passive thinking that their vote makes no difference. Or they are stuck in voting for one party over the other just because they have always done so. Politicians are aware of this mentality and screw everyone whenever they can, knowing that the masses will simply take it. If this happened in France, or any other country... People like Khan would be kicked out in a day.

I watched the whole video. You are a great KZreadr with a very balanced opinion on this subject, thank you for making a follow-up video, it can’t have been easy for you to make this one, I can understand your emotions when we look at what is happening to the motorcar at the moment. Personally I have a more pragmatic view and accept that things change. For me a car is simply a tool to get from A-B always has been, if it has to be a petrol car built in this millennium, or a hybrid or BEV to avoid new taxes then so be it. I agree that pay per mile coming too in some form if they can figure out how to track mileage. I’ve driven “classic” cars in the past and as you say maintaining them gets expensive quickly so I don’t really miss the cost and always having oil under my finger nails. 😂 At least when you do save up enough pennies to take the BMW out it will be even more of a special experience. Cheer up things could be a lot worse, if I see you out and about I’d be the first to shake your hand and thank you for the work you do.

Sad fact is he is one of the members of C40 cities who love the ulez and LTN schemes, and I wouldn't be surprised that the vote was secretly manipulated to keep him in power. The worrying thing is that now, other parts of the country have now become Labour run with mayors and local government. The West Midlands Mayor is now a Labour politician and he will most likely make the Midlands run in exactly the same way as Khan's London with more anti car measures in places that anti car restrictions aren't required. Birmingham City is already Labour run and we have a low emissions zone and area's of low traffic neighbourhoods already in place. These are already effecting businesses and the government finances especially when they announce they are bankrupt due to not correctly paying staff wages.

I don't think that many people are aware that the World Economic Forum that is populated by a huge number of representives from the major nations of the world has on its website claimed that Global Warming is to a large extent caused by private cars. So the WEF 's answer to that is to get rid of most of the world's private vehicles. This task is down to the individual countries that support the WEF. So as far as the UK is concerned, the central Government is subtly but enthusiastically doing its best to force citizens out of their cars by various means. And according to posts on YT, car owners elsewhere in the world are being subjected to similar forceful tactics. Our goverment was very quiet about the outrage over the ULEZ expansion regardless of the fact that legislation existed that could have stopped its expansion. The future is as always uncertain for everything and politicians come and go.

I can see him winning the vote every 4 years from now on, to be Mayor, with higher and higher numbers voting for him as the influx of the unwashed continue to invade our once proud and mighty country. Why is the UK going to pot, well just look at the leadership we have and all will be revealed to those with eyes wide open. If Londoners thought it could not get worse, I fear the roller coaster is merely cresting the top of the extremely deep and downward ride to oblivion for the native citizens. God be with you in your time of tyranny.

Ulez was a major reason for London being much closer than rest of country and both Labour and Tories planners will note motorists do hold significant power in the GE - this may lead to watering down of anti motoring policies ( short term). If there are any smart Tories they should reopen cancelling unfair Ulez's at Gov level before GE - however suspect Labour will introduce national Ulez/PPM scheme once in power - Keep up your great work BCG , totally agree this war on motorists impacts all

Maybe get those that don't vote to join a block to (make sure their vote makes a difference) a block voter for a specific candidate that supports the UK. We need group leaders who can form voting blocks, just to force changes. The perfect Block leaders would be You Tube Channels who have thousands of followers. If one of these leaders can group thousands of people that don't normally vote to all agree to vote a certain way at an election instead of not voting, That block will affect the outcome of an election if they all vote the same candidates. This would make MPs Listen to these channels they would carry real weight.

Personally, I think the reason khan got in, is down to the lack of people voting. Pro khan voted. Others didn't because either they couldn't be bothered or didn't like any of the options.

I reckon everyone simply wanted something other than Conservative (voting along national lines). I don't think it made any difference if it was Khan or Mickey Mouse, the outcome would still have been a labour win. ULEZ didn't have that big an impact on many voters.

Agree with all you said. Now this will be controversial, we talk about inclusion and diversity a lot these days, discrimination and so on, you talk about simply going to the shops and it costing you lots to park - very true, so, we'll stop shopping, driving and so on, but if you are disabled (and that means all levels inc. The - "I have back pain but still get up ladders to decorate and asthma because I smoke" brigade) you can park almost without impunity. So, to me at least, I'm being discriminated against because, in my 60's and arthritic, because I'm not registered disabled, I, like you, have to decided if I can afford to take my old car to the station, shops, visit relatives etc., I can't because I am being discriminated against, however, if I were registered, I could go almost where I want and park at will. If I walk to the station, I am in pain by the time I get there but, that's ok isn't it? When I say disabled I don't mean severely, I'm talking about the likes of those that have barely ever worked if at all, are obese through laziness or stuffing themselves on take aways, the one's who can climb up ladders and go shopping everyday in their brand new subsidised cars. Discrimination is rife when they know they can charge/fine so called able people. It causes division in society, it'll only be trades and disabled people ALLOWED the luxury of driving in this country. Bitter maybe I am, but having worked all my life, I feel picked on and disadvantaged , and they wonder why mental health is on the increase and why more people site mental health for not working anymore!

Not a close result… I find I disagree with you. Susan Hall got 800,000 to Sadiq Khan's 1,000,000. That's pretty good for a candidate representing a party that is on its way out. I only wish people understood they are not voting on a national basis. We can only ever vote for our local candidate. Had this not been a likely General Election year, the result may well have been different. My point is that there must surely still be a strong voice against this nasty and deeply unfair charging. Change will come.

Well I’m sorry to disagree with you brown car guy but I’ve never seen such distain for a man in public office . And I thank you for what you’ve done in the last year. I have a 2005 car not because I can’t afford a new car that has the appeal of a washing machine but because like you’re self. I love my car. Back to Khan’t the London nightmayor well he’s corrupt and just serves a purpose an addenda. A Labour mayor but with conservative okayed the finance that the greens agree with . The people didn’t want him or Burnham or this ridiculous nonsense agenda that the government signed up for at Cops 27 the government needed this to happen.this had to happen It was a fraudulent election. Khan knew it was impossible for him to loose so admit it at least to yourself we’ve been stabbed in the back. Khan has lied about air quality that’s fraud. Khan demands money for a service he doesn’t provide thats extortion. Khan send men around to your house trying to steal your possessions the man is a dishonest crook. Selected not elected. You know what I say is true.

London is a CITY. It is not a place for cars any more than it is for cows. Cars are a rural artefact, often an essential one, but in a city their are just thieves of our freedom and truncators of our lives. We need a city equally open for all, not dominated by a selfish minority. We need goods delivery vehicles and personal transport for people with disabilities. That's ALL.

Hello Mr Brown Car Guy. As an Intelligence Ex Army Guy with experience in GCHQ stations I have a long association with Islam. Listen to me for my third attempt. You and you viewers are not looking deep enough. Forget Cars, it's not about cars. Wakeup. Look at Sadiq Khan, a Muslim Brotherhood connected Mayor who is similar to Putin in that he believes he us the Caliph of London. He final ambition is the Caliph of England. Ask yourself who benefits from every decision he makes. My knowledge goes back to June 67. Where is the ULEZ tax being spent. Ask the important questions. Do White Christians benefit, or do Muslims benefit. Anyone can see that Muslims live close together, they don't need vehicles, they don't need Cycleways, they don't need trees. They want only the following, like Gaza it's simple. Low cost housing, Mosques nearby, Halal Food shops, normally at the rear on the Mosques. Who pays, white Christians. Perfect. Read the "Memorandum of Understanding from the Muslim Brotherhood". - Holyland Foundation trials in Texas in 2001

  • @July-A7

Not really . There are higher interests at stake , much higher than what Muslims want. And it's not about cars either . Cars are merely a money means. Means to make money for someone . Pushing for EV vehicles while they aren't yet reliable , affordable and with insufficient charging infrastructure . Who benefits from selling them now at these extortionate prices ? Handing out contracts to install Ulez cameras and enforcement . Someone is making money . Constricting peoples' freedom. Taxing us with extra charges. Control of the masses. In preparation for further control and real oppression. There's more.... Think in these terms .

Come on dude this is absurd. Muslims round where I live use cars and need cars. They run businesses and shops, they go and get supplies, they deliver food, they also perform trades - all require their vehicles. They also go out to green spaces, they go walking in the countryside, etc. No they don't need cycleways as they generally don't ride bicycles. So how do you explain all the cycleways popping up in London? Obviously it isn't for the Muslims' benefit, is it. Halal food shops - who's paying, you ask. Well, the customers are paying. No white Christians are sponsoring any Muslim-owned businesses. Muslim businesses aren't supported by taxpayers' money, and neither are mosques, so that's a lie. You're well out of date and you've gone straight down the conspiracy rabbit-hole. I looked up the document you mention and it seems it was written for the Muslim Brotherhood (extremist organisation) in 2001 in north America. So what connects that with Sadiq Khan? Nothing, except a common religion. The idea that Muslims are all connected and share extremist aims and this is what has conspired to f up London is ridiculous. "It's not about cars", OK. Then you say, it's about this, and set out your white Christian supremacist manifesto. This is what guaranteed Sadiq Khan's victory. You should have stuck to demonstrable facts and not tried to invent "facts" in a data vacuum.
