London Heathrow Airport International Arrival For Connection Flight

This is an international arrival from Naples, Italy into London Heathrow airport. We arrived in terminal 2 and had to transfer to Terminal 5 but after that had to take a tram to B Gates. This is a large airport. Good luck and enjoy London Heathrow Airport. We ultimately are headed to Boston. London Heathrow is one of the busiest airports in the world.

You sound a little silly going on about elevators and disabled people! T5 was built in 2008. It is completely accessible for people that can't use stairs! In fact the whole of Heathrow is. The buggy you saw is used for people with mobility difficulties :)

When going through Heathrow, it's best to travel with airlines that are part of the same 'group'. That's because they generally use the same terminal and you won't have to make a terminal change. Back in April I flew from Orlando to Heathrow with Virgin Atlantic and then on to Amsterdam using KLM. I never had to leave Terminal 3. Also, always familiarize yourself with the airport(s) you're going to be flying through or to. Come November I'll be flying from Amsterdam to Tampa via Atlanta, so I've watched a lot of videos about Atlanta as that's a HUGE airport. I already know that I'll likely land at terminal E, have to walk to terminal F to go through immigration, pick up my checked luggage, go through customs, check my luggage again, go through security and then make my way to where my flight to Tampa departs from (probably terminal A or B). It really pays to check out the airports ahead of time, so you don't get lost and can understand the signage.

I've done that a bunch of times at Heathrow. The airport is huge. Earlier this year my sister was telling me she'll be connecting at Heathrow for the first time. She said something that she allowed for a two hour connection time so she'll have "plenty of free time" to do things at the airport. I told her you got to be kidding. I allow much, much more than that, to be prepared if the incoming flight is delayed.

@@akkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkk Sorry, I don't know. I suggest asking your airline or the UK Border Agency. I'm going to guess if you don't go through UK passport control, remain inside the airport terminals solely for transiting, you might not need any sort of visa, but I'm not sure. UK immigration is kind of strict. Fortunately, I travel on a U.S. passport so no visa required, although I've heard in the future there may need to be ETAs (electronic travel authority) to enter. It's like that to go to Australia for me. It's no big deal. You fill out a form online, pay something like $20, and it's immediately done.

I need to do the same thing in August 2023. Arriving from SLC on Delta (Terminal 3) leaving to Glasgow on British Airways (terminal 5). I agree with some of your observations. The busiest airport in the world in Atlanta and because it has a linear design, it is much more efficient. The thing that drives me nuts about British airports is the posting of the gate so late in the game. I like to know 90 minutes in advance which gate I will need to be at - I won't wait there that long, but I like to know. As an FYI, every escalator/stairway/etc. has a corresponding elevators someplace - you just didn't see them. Glad you made it! Its quite a journey. Heathrow is a remarkable airport, but it is expensive and just too cumbersome.

Yeah, Heathrow is huge! When connecting at the big airports in Europe (Heathrow, Charles de Gaulle, Schiphol, Frankfurt, Istanbul) you should always plan at least 3h in my experience. The easiest airport from the list to transfer at is defnitely Schiphol, because they just have one Terminal divided in different Departure Areas instead of several Terminals. The huge ones (that also feel huge when conncecting through them) are Frankfurt, London and Paris. It's a very long walk if you're not that lucky with the location of your arrival and departure gate.

I have never seen security as empty as it was in this video! If you are in transit to another flight, you go through the turnstile things that were pictured in the video. You scan your ticket to get through and it is pretty quick. Then you may go right up the nearby escalator or you may be directed through some hallways and then up a different escalator. Security will be right at the top, sometimes a 5 minute line or sometimes 20 minutes. You don't have to remove your shoes unless you think they might set off the scanner! There are several Security people at the conveyors to help you figure out what you have to take out of your cases if you don't know. In September they had a new experimetal machine and my three tablets and two phones could stack in the bin in the zipper cases I carry them in. But in December I had to take them all out and put them in the bin separately, no stacking. My husband had an insulin pump and that always caused a problem!

Customs in both England and France, sort of. Follow the purple signs! What he said looks like a passport scanner, actually is a scanner for your ticket. Put the ticket face down I think, and the "gate" opens to let you through. Like a metro gate. Usually it is very quick to get through this area because there are quite a few scanners. This is where the customs booths used to be, and those could take quite a long time. Then, you go up the escalator to get to security, similar to our TSA. Now that can still take quite a long time! I was there two weeks ago (May 2023) and they are testing new luggage scanners that allow you to keep your liquids and electronics in your luggage. It is much quicker! Eventually the new scanners are supposed to be in use for all the security lines there. But for now - it can be very time consuming to get through security. I fly to Nice from there, and yes, you do have customs in Nice but it usually goes pretty quickly. Usually there are two booths that each have two customs officers. One booth for EU residents, one for All Others. I suspect there will be customs wherever you land in France but may not be too bad - unless you are going to Paris!

If you're only carrying hand baggage, maybe. But it's too little time for a guaranteed connection so you're out of luck if anything goes wrong and your incoming flight is delayed. Heathrow and the airlines say at least 90 minutes between T5 and T2/3.

Why is Akwaaba only inscribed at the London Heathrow Airport Arrivals/Depature? why not other Ghanaians languages, are you supporting tribalism in Ghana or what? Akan is not the only spoken languege in Ghana, fix that.

Try telling the airport! Not some random youtuber. We tend to write signs in the language used. Hence in Wales signs are written in English and Welsh. In England signs are written in English only or English and Urdu it depends what's required, its nothing to do with tribalism.
