Lomo'Instant Square How To - Camera Guide and Review

Ғылым және технология

We are taking a look at the newest Camera from Lomography the Lomo'Instant Square. It takes some nice features and combines them into a great little package. Something i missed to talk about in my Video is that the Lomo'Instant Square is also able to shoot on Instax Mini film.

Wow! The sample photos at the end were great. I have been thinking about cutting a square "surround" out of thick cardboard so that the finger has to be pressed down into the opening it forms in order to fire the shutter. I haven't tried this yet because I don't have a problem with it yet, probably because I haven't used the camera that much.

Great review! I've been looking for an instant camera with a few more functions that allow more control over the image. This could be the one, however I was looking at the Instantkon rf70 which loos incredible. Shame it's so expensive, not sure it's worth it. Hmm...

Hello Marcus Thanks for this Review, the camera looks very interesting, but the focus has distance scale, witch for me is a problem. i guess that for the tecnology these days they could done something better, the Cr2 batteryes are a bit expensive in Portugal. is the Viewfinder bright? Do the Pictures make lens flare? i was gona buy the Lomo instant glass but i saw that it creates a lens circular flare. in the other hand the manual control is an advantage. Hope you family members well! Thanks again, and has usual i will share you videos on Social Media. take care

Holyshit someone who actually bothers to talk about the quality of the image and zoom in on it instead of just showing them all at arm's length and not caring about that. just to clarify about the crop viewfinder, as you sorta cover it (you bring up the grey area) but since the MANUAL doesn't cover it at all...for newby's when in the 0.8m mode, to make up the parallax only use the smaller square, and for settings beyond that, the bigger square. Though if I have it backwards, feel free to correct, but I believe that is right (as my first close up photo confirmed).

thank you for the explanation of the viewfinder! my up close shots are almost never framed right! I can't believe there are no instructions in the manual. I will try the in viewfinder for framing next time to see if they come out right. as it is a rangefinder I find some of my distance shots are still not framed right. I have to remember to frame up and to the right. image will drop down and move left. guess that's what the gray frame is for?

Marko I have a thought that might help you with the Shutter Release on the Lomo Instant Square. You can look up Lolumina Shutter Button on google. It’s available on Amazon and I sure eBay, get the stick on kind of button and I bet the issues with mistaken pictures will not be an issue in the future. That is because you will be able to feel the button so you can avoid it. It sticks on pretty well with the adhesive they provide in the kit. Just a suggestion you might want to try. Hope it helps. Btw, your videos are very informative and engaging. Keep up the great presentations !!

I picked this camera up on kickstarter in the baby blue. can't say I've been all that happy with it. was very excited about the controls and lenses. but 10 boxes in and I'm not in love. the image framing on the 0.8 setting and with the attachment have been impossible. and getting the right exposure indoors has been challenging. EV does help, often it's then too slow and shots are blurred. I wanted to love it as the film price is good. I am disappointed that fuji made the film size so small. if they didn't want you to use it in a Polaroid, fine. but they still could have been a bit more generous with size. and now here comes the Diana Square. and like a fool, I'm going for that one too on kickstarter...

How about Leica’s Sofort? It would be really interesting to see a photo quality comparison between Fujifilm Instax camera, Polaroid SX70 camera, Leica Sofort, and Lomo Square? There are many videos comparing different films, but not so many comparing the quality of the finished photos which is greatly impacted by the camera, mainly its lens. It would be ideal to use the same film in all, but i know there’s no one film that fits all.

It's also a hundred bucks more than the One Step 2 and the photo size is not much bigger than the mini. In fact the size difference is so insignificant, I'm not quite sure why they bothered. I've also bought Lomo Instant Wide and wasn't impressed with the sharpness. If I was choosing between the Lomo or One Step I would go for the One Step due to the lower camera price and overall significant bigger size of the photo. And the fact that Polaroids are just better!
