I've just wanted to correct you on something I do have the Logitech z906, if the dialogue does not sound clear on the Logitech z906 it's because the way how the content has been mixed on the DVDs films, it's got nothing to do with the Logitech, if you listen to certain content on KZread videos and the dialogue is very clear and some certain DVD films the content is clear on the Logitech z906, I've looked into this and I have raised this question as well in the past. I know on certain DVD films the dialogue sounds a bit muffled it's got nothing to do with the Logitech z906! This happens to a lot of surround sound systems and sound bars it is really to do with how the content has been recorded!

I am not sure about KZread videos coz KZread is only stereo, on Z906 you can play stereo where center channel is inactive or fake matrix mode, by which you can't judge center channel. Talking about DVD/Bluray, I agree that some movies do have bad dialogue mix like Tenet but my issue is that, you can't adjust the Front- Left and Right like Side surround, so when movie have loud audio coming from Front L/R then it drown out the Center channel(even if you keep center at 100% volume, since Front L/R run at 100% by default and you can't adjust them). I do own a dedicated Dolby Atmos Home theater and with my Denon AVR I can separately raise the center channel volume unlike Z906 for better dialogue.

@@ElitistReviews you can't adjust the Front- Left or right, you're right about that agree with you, I've tried that also, on Z906 it doesn't make a difference, I was a bit disappointed with that also, some guy who I know was saying that he has a different cinema system he has that issue as well with some films, but he said the problem is when you turn up the dialogue you drown out the other sounds on the system! you cant really win.

@@ElitistReviews I have a smart Tv and i can watch KZread content with the logtech z906 on and the dialogue sounds very clear on KZread! that's also how i know some DVDs films is not recorded very clear!

@@anthonyjones5924 you need to understand that KZread is only Stereo, left and right that's it but with the Z906 matrix mode it will simulated to all the speakers, you can't judge a speaker like that and only true 5.1 content mix can determine speaker's decoding capability, like 90% Netflix or Disney+ content are in 5.1 or Atmos, and even Bluray movies too. In a true 5.1 content dialogue is suppose to come only through the center channel and if some explosion is going on at the same time then you should be able to hear the dialogue and the explosion sound clearly. That's what a good system can do. I've watched at least a 1000 movies/tv shows in my Z906 and the dialogue is not clear when there is a big explosion or loud ambient noise in the scene. But with my Polk S35 + Denon AVR, I don't have that issue. Please checkout my Polk S35 speaker review.

@@ElitistReviews but you're right about that I agree with you but there is some content on KZread that is uploaded 5.1 surround sound on KZread I do get some of all the speakers playing on youtube but mostly is the only front speakers play on youtube!

2:03 you can check the time stamp. Logitech cannot play TrueHD Atmos or Dolby Digital Plus Atmos because you need HDMI for that and Logitech Z906 cannot even convert to Dolby Digital but it can convert DTS-X, DTS HD Master Audio to simple DTS 5.1 it can playback flawlessly, please check this time stamp 3:10

Brother , you can play almost anything with this speaker but you have to consider that it can't go beyond 5.1 ch and limited to 96khz/24bits stereo and dolby digital and dts specs.

I have some bluray Rips which would be a better way to play em on pc! like through usb/ Kodi/ PC to TV with K lite. or any other option you suggest? please help! buy the way best Review on Z906 so far!

best way is Klite codec and use MadVR plugin, do a research about MadVR config.

Brother pls suggest z906 or iv300 or yamaha 1840. Bass not matter. Only focus on sound clarity and surround experience. Thanks

Hi Bro Been looking for information on this 5.1 speaker, and found that your review is the most informative. An honest review of a computer speaker from a knowledgable home theater expert. Usually home theater expert scoff at computer speaker. Thanks for that ! I'm interested in this speaker for it's surround. Having no Atmos is okay as true Atmos experience is just too much for my budget. My concern is that this is a 10 year old product. Is there any newer competing similar prized 5.1 speaker as comparison? Thanks for the help !

if you buy an Amazon Firestick 4K then connect your TV via optical, exactly what I did then Firestick will convert Dolby Digital Plus to Dolby Digital 5.1 and then Z906 can easily play it back, Soundbar cannot compete with this solution bcoz no matter what you do, you cannot separate front Left Right and Center channel.

@@nicksajs even though in India, set top boxes can technically playback 5.1 but none of the TV channels broadcast 5.1 audio they are stereo only, and even all the Indian TV shows are recorded and produced in Stereo only. If you try stereo content on 5.1 speaker then you will only get virtual simulated surround sound and not True Dolby/DTS 5.1. Only Netflix, PrimeVideo support up to Dolby Atmos, and recently Hotstar started supporting 5.1 audio

Hi bro, your videos are really great. I recently purchased the z906 and I really love the audio quality of it. Z906 only supports Dolby Digital and not DD+. I have tons of eac3 encoded Dolby Digital plus movies in my harddrive and when I play them thru z906 It didn't play in all 5 speakers due to incompatibility. How can I make the eac3 played as ac3? Please help me brother. I don't have TV or firestick. I connect z906 with my Macbook computer and I use VLC player. Please suggest me brother.

unfortunately the optical toslink cable can't carry any lossless 5.1 audio, such as Dolby Digital Plus.

can you tell me which part you didn't understand, I have a bad habit to speak faster. I took Polk Signature as a reference then compared it to Z906. But let me tell you, apart from the high frequency, the Z906 is a killer deal, I wish it had an HDMI arc, then it would have been 10/10 for me.

so only Netflix will support 5.1 via the Android TV but if you want prime video and DisneyPlus 5.1 then get the amazon Firestick or an Apple TV.

@@alejandroalvarezvargas6870 yea you should a Firestick 4K coz with my TCL Android there a significant audio delay via optical with Z906 for Netflix and PrimeVideo doesn't support 5.1 at all so I had to buy the Firestick 4K but later I realized that it doesn't support Netflix Atmos only up to 5.1, so now I have to buy an Apple TV 4K.

Can you please make a detailed sound demo video on this system playing differ movies like fury, blade runner 2049 intro, midway or some movie trailers.

yea all 5 speakers are exactly same, with the remote, you can increase rear speaker volume, along with center and subwoofer but you cannot increase front speaker volume. Put the rear speaker above 1.5 feet of your ear level and you are good to go.

I suffer from tinnitus and hyperacusis. I pretty much can never use over the ear headphones or earbuds ever again. I miss playing Call of Duty. Could I use these speakers and a microphone without friends hearing the sound around me? Does anyone know if thats possible? I assume just move the threshold up? Thank you.

yes because PS5 doesn't have optical out like the first PS4 model or PS4 Pro, it only has HDMI which Logitech Z906 lacks. If your TV has optical out then you can downconvert PCM 5.1 or 7.1 audio to Dolby AC3 but it may or may not work depends on the TV.

@@ElitistReviews Thanks for the fast reply... I've recently bought this sound system (haven't set it up yet) but am planning on buying the PS5 at some point, so this is very frustrating! If the sound system is connected to the TV won't it play sound to whatever device is connected to it? So if my PS5 is connected to the TV through HDMI, and the Logitech is connected to the TV through optical, would it not push sound out that way? Or are you saying that I would need to buy an Optical to Hdmi cable specifically for the PS5? I have a 2 year old Sony Bravia kd55xg8505 TV.

@@Its_A_London_Thing if you connect via TV then you might get only get stereo sound and not 5.1 bcoz like I said in my review, PS5 game uses lossless PCM 5.1 or 7.1 type audio and optical cable can only carry lossless stereo and cannot carry 5.1

Nope, just using optical out from on my motherboard for Z906 but most of the time I use my Nvidia graphics card HD audio for playback with my denon AVR

broadcast television don't give 5.1, you need to use streaming services like Netflix, PrimeVideo and Hotstar recently introduced 5.1 but 90% of their content are stereo only just like DTH set top box.

@@rejinvgm8598 ok so how do you know it's true 5.1 and not stereo upmix, like Netflix has a tool called "Test Pattern" by which you can determine 5.1, does it have a similar feature? also even though the setbox is capable of 5.1 doesn't mean the content is also a 5.1 mix

buddy if you look at my other videos, I have got 2 dedicated subwoofers connected with my receiver, and those cost twice the entire Z906 so believe me when I tell you Z906 is no slouch it can shake your 4bhk house.

For this price the selfish people of Logitech could have made this the No.1 Dolby Atmos enabled system,alas they haven't!

Logitech Z906 released in 2011 and Dolby Atmos adapted into home theater in 2016 so therefore it's not Logitech's fault. But the issue is Dolby Atmos setup requires a dedicated room and only a small number of people can afford to do that, therefore soundbars are ruling everywhere.

so you have to adjust some settings in the TV itself in order to get 5.1 out via optical. My TCL does convert Dolby Digital 5.1 from Netflix, Primevideo and even Hotstar, my tv itself coverts all signal to DD 5.1 then send via optical but I get a bit audio delay.. If you still don't get 5.1 then there is no point in buying a fire stick. Logitech Z906 is primarily a PC speaker and not so useful in Home Theater purpose coz lossy Dolby Digital is dead and 99% of the audio format is either Dolby Digital Plus or Dolby Atmos and Z906 or optical cable does not support either of them.
