    THX certification means low distortion and a sub filter for 80 hz that would boost those frequencies under 80 hz by 10 dB. Also the main vocal speakers are coaxial which will give you a more precise sound waves then having the mids and tweeter seperated. This is good for any content. It gives more realism

    I have used these almost 6 years almost daily and they are still as good as new! I have tried also other speakers from that price range but from the experience I can tell these are the best for the price. The bass is so clean and deep it is almost like in a movie theater :) Strong recommendation from me!

    THX certification means that this surround system (at the hardware level, the speaker drivers themselves) can faithfully reproduce what the movie or music sound engineer intended to sound like. Now with the ability to decode sound formats such as DTS and Dolby (amplifier level), you'll hear DTS and Dolby sounds as intended. There are many DTS and Dolby decoding capable AV amplifiers - that's nice - but you'll have to partner it with very high quality speakers to truly hear what the movie was intended to sound like. You can build you self one, but you will most likely over or under configure some parameters, so you'll need a reference or a standard to build a well configured system. Thank goodness for THX certification, that calibration and rigorous quality testing is all done for you. So having a THX certified system guarantees you that you'll hear the best sounding configuration for a given system. It's not marketing. :)

    Playing through Deadspace again with these speakers is an awesome experience, so much atmosphere! I just bought another set for my TV for movies and it is also great for playing any video with a 5.1 soundtrack (which is most DVDs and Blurays). Mount the rear speakers above ear level tilted slightly downwards and increase the volume of the rear speakers for the best effect. Music is great with these also. Under all circumstances the bass is incredible and generally after you've enjoyed the full EXTREME BASS TEST, you'll want to back it right back to about 1/3 of the bass vol otherwise it's overwhelming for long periods. I payed under £150 for each set, which is great value. Oh and BTW the screw size you need for mounting the satellites is 1/4 UNC thread, 1/2 inch long.

I managed to play the set additionally through my tv sparklers too. So all in all I have an eight speaker set up. The set is ideal for bedroom or small living room. As I lower the logi speakers I can increase tv volume and I have a nice balance of treble coming from the television and nice rounded bass from Logi speakers. I used the speakers for everything IE DVD player, Ps5 etc lovely sound. I also have a technics sound system and added those speakers to Logi system. Wowwwwwwwwwwwwwwwww

    I just bought these to replace my old Logitech Z-5500 setup. There was nothing wrong with the Z-5500 (had them for over 15 years), but the Z906 are marketed as an upgrade to the Z-5500 so that's why I grabbed em. As for sound quality, well they are very good but I'm not really hearing any better sound than the Z-5500. The Z-5500 seems to have more PUNCH YOU IN THE FACE sound power. Crank up the volume on the Z-5500 and they absolutely BLAST!!! The Z906 does somewhat blast but more like a slap in the face. For something that's marketed as an upgrade I guess I was expecting a bit more. But then again the Z906 has a smaller subwoofer (8") versus the Z-5500 (10"). I did find that the controller on the Z906 beats the Z-5500 controller hands down!!

    3:00 , surround only works in games. That is incorrect. The Z906 supports Dolby Digital 5.1 and DTS Digital Surround 5.1. For example, you can stream a movie or series on HBO Max and if the show says 5.1, then you will get sound from all 5 speakers and the sub.

    How would these compare to Definitive Technology ProCinema 600 5.1 speakers? Which would have better clarity and surround sound? Obviously, the Definitive needs a receiver and the Logitech doesn't, so I would assume it could depend on the receiver. Also, the Definitive are 2 way speakers (tweeter and woofer) as opposed to single way like the logitech.

    Have you tried it with both optical and jack cables? I have a high quality sound card, but with analog connection, the bass sounds kinda forced and weak compared to the optical. I'm not sure is that normal?

    I have mine connected directly to my ps4 via toslink (Optical audio cable). Change ps4 settings to use optical audio and change the bitstream to either Dolby or DTS (i prefer DTS because its a little more punchier). Don't use tv out because the z906 does not have hdmi in, therefore the tv would have to take the ps4 HDMI surround sound audio and encode it to whatever connection you're using. Almost all TVs don't support this feature out of the box because the encoding and decoding process of the audio falls into some legal grey area (I think copyright)therefore the tv would give you stereo only in this scenario.

    Just something maybe to add next time... Razer bought THX Labs and lowered the certification standards so it means nothing. I'm assuming they did this to let their own speakers say they are THX certified. That's why the high end speakers like Klipsch are not THX certified anymore for the most part

    Surround is an interesting issue because it usually is based more on the software and also the audio source not so much the speakers

  • @AinokeatoProductions

    @AinokeatoProductions

    5 жыл бұрын

    @@TechManPat Yes, while surround is typically based more on your software, the lack of quality of your speakers themselves also lends towards recreation of surround sound. For example, the JBL LSR305's, the tweeter sits in a space created to better produce the image of the audio source, singers sound like they're right in front of you, footsteps sound like they're literally right behind you or off to your left or your right, planes sound like they're flying above. If you take a look at the JBL monitors vs regular speakers and studio monitors you'll notice a funky looking rectangle area where the tweeter sits, that's what makes these speakers different from most other speakers, not to mention the fact that those 5" woofers handle lows like nobodies business without a sub.
