Great "working" review !!!! I'm an "older guy" who also liked seeing an "older" person doing a tech review instead of the usual 20-something. Good to hear and see the results of some real experiences, not just a list of features.

Seriously, thank you! I was literally deciding between these two mice. And with the death of retail, no one actually stocks these in store. I’ve seen other reviews, but none like yours. Yours was a detailed analysis from a practical usage standpoint for the general computer user. Again, thank you!

Big fan of Logi also - but the pinky area support looks pivitol. I'm a pretty intense cad/illustrator guy so I'm beginning to need this. Many years - since my C64 - so I have to take care of these worn body parts. : ) Thanks for the review Jay.

I have Evoluent first and tried using Logitech Vertical and I couldn’t. Evoluent has better design in many ways. First and the most important, Evoluent’s angle is probably close to 80 degree, while Logitech is only 57. This makes a huge difference for me. There is no other brand that is more vertical than Evoluent at this moment. Logitech is also easily to be tipped off. Evoluent has the area to rest you little finger and it also make the mouse more stable. Great thumb position from Evoluent as mentioned in the video.

Thanks for this. I was thinking about the Logitech but your video made my realize I need the finger rests on the Evoluent. I've been through a time in my life where I could barely type because of arm pain. Our site ergonomist switched me to an Evoulent mouse and split keyboard. It helped. I've been using the Evoluent mouse for about 6 years. I went through a couple of them. One thing I always didn't like about the Evoluent is the glossy finish where you fingers go. You get a little sweat on you hands and these parts of the mouse get nasty. I've tried putting tape on them but the tape wears down quickly. I guess you just have to clean the mouse a lot. I really wish they make another mouse with a different finish.

I've been using the wireless Anker model from Amazon UK for £23 and it has massively reduced my pain. I was getting extreme burning from my elbow to my hand and the pain has dropped a lot in the week I've been using it. The problem is I'm a gamer and I'm used to top of the line gaming mice so the Anker feels very cheap in comparison so I'm looking for a more high end vertical which is why I'm interested in the Logitech MX Vertical.

I also started using a vertical mouse about a year ago and it did alleviate the wrist pain but now I started having some issues with thumb strain. I'm not too sure what's causing it. Perhaps I'm squeezing the mouse too hard or the thumb rest is not in the right position for me. I'm using a fairly cheap mouse because I wasn't sure if the form factor would work for me at all. Now that I know that it does help, I decided to shell out for Logitech's model. It seems like it has more support for the thumb compared to my current mouse. I'm still waiting for it to arrive so I didn't know yet. I hope it's worth the money.

Great video, been looking for a wireless Vertical Mouse. Evoluent came recommended to me. My only reservation against the Evoluent, is the Bluetooth model is Mac only, for Windows laptops, i need the USB Receiver, So i need a USB-C -> USB-A adapter for my specific laptop. Not a deal breaker, as most of the time i'm docked, but it does mean i can't just pull my laptop out with the mouse and start using it.

Another option is a trackpad. Its cool because we are used to the gestures because of smartphones. And it is very easy on the wrists and fingers. And another option is a digital pen. There is a learning curve but it is also very ergonómic

Thanks for this review. I used a Logitech MX Vertical mouse for about 3 years, and found it quite good. My main complaint was the positioning of the two auxiliary buttons on the left side (usually used for forward/backward); I had a hard time reaching the forward button with my thumb in the proper grip position. Recently, however, the switch under the left mouse button started to fail, resulting in loss of contact during drag operations, such that items that I was dragging would be released in mid-drag, or the wrong menu command would be selected as I dragged down a menu list. This was impossible to work with, and there's no way to repair the device, so I needed to buy a new mouse. I almost bought another MX, but thought I would look around, and discovered the Evoluent. I bought an Evoluent D, medium size, wired, and have been using it for about a week. In general, it's a decent mouse. I have some complaints, however: First, I really, really hate the slippery, faux chrome finish on it. It looks crap, and feels crap. The Logitech has a matte rubber texture that makes it easy to grip; the Evoluent feels as though it's going to slip out of my hand any second, and it just feels gross. Combined with its remarkably light weight (it weighs only 135 grammes), it makes the whole thing feel cheap - not exactly what you'd expect for a $100-plus device. My other major complaint is a lack of support for macOS. Their driver does not work with versions of macOS more recent than 10.14 (Mojave); they claim that they've been unable to get a driver development kit from Apple to support more recent releases. This, of course, is ridiculous, and calls into question their software development capability. It's perfectly reasonable (though sad) to simply say one doesn't want to bother supporting Macs any longer (lots of companies do just that), but to make lame excuses and blame Apple for not supplying the necessary development tools is poor form. They do, at least, recommend the excellent USB Overdrive as a substitute. I do find, however, that for some reason the mouse does not seem to be as accurate as the Logitech when driving the cursor. With the Logitech, I can wing that cursor across the screen and land exactly where I want to be; I *always* over- or under-shoot with the Evoluent, and have to circle around to get to the right spot. I'm not sure why this is, except that perhaps the Logitech driver has a much better acceleration curve and the hardware a more precise tracking capability than the Evoluent; I don't know how to test this to find what the difference is. Perhaps putting the Logitech under the same USB Overdrive settings to see if the behaviour is similar would at least narrow it down. On the plus side, I like the shape of the mouse; it fits my hand better than the Logitech MX, and the thumb placement and the location of the two buttons one would use for forward/backward is much more comfortable. The little lip for your palm/little finger is nicely placed and also superior to the configuration of the Logitech. The wheel has a more definitive click to it, which is nice; the Logitech wheel feels a bit mushy as it spins. I don't know. Both mice have advantages and shortcomings. The Logitech does give you both wired and Bluetooth in one package for the same price as the wired version of the Evoluent D, and $15 less than the Evoluent D Wireless (which uses a USB transceiver instead of Bluetooth). At this point, I'm leaning toward returning the Evoluent and ordering another Logitech, but your review has given me pause, and I'll have to think about it some more. Thanks again.

I just checked, and the Logitech MX actually weighs only 125 grammes - less than the Evoluent! Yet to me it feels heavier! I think it's actually the density that's the issue: the Logitech is more compact, and so is somewhat denser than the Evoluent, and just feels more substantial in my hand. Very strange! (I can't help thinking that the faux chrome finish on the Evoluent is an influence as well, however psychological that might be.)

I tried this but immediately returned it. The default right click button is in a stupid place - under your third finger. There is no onboard memory for button settings, and since I am using this on a work PC (like I imagine most people do since this is where you get wrist problems) there is no ability to install drivers or software to customize any of the button settings. I think it is a good design but if you use it on an employer's equipment just know that you won't be able to do any button customization.

Logitech is probably the best software in the business for controlling mice. That being said, I am easily able to control the Evoluent by using the computer controls and the DPI selector on the mouse without any problems. I don't play any games, but I do a lot of Photoshop type stuff. YMMV. :)

Thanks man!. I have CTS and just got to know these mice. I saw the Logitech in Mediamarkt shop and almost bought it. My gaming mouse was a Razer, and had plenty of buttons. I noticed that my CTS gets worse after some minutes of playing, could even be the cause of it. But the thumb-buttons on the Logitech seemed just off. Then I started searching the web for the vertical mouse and that could be used in gaming. The Evoluent popped right up. Sunday I bought it on the web and today it came in. Weird looking, but what a rest for the hand and CTS. Now I am programming the buttons to work in COD.

I have bought two cheap wireless vertical mice and one died in two months (Zelotes brand) and the other (Jelly Comb brand) is having connectivity problems in my first month of owning it. I will go for a more expensive one to avoid "buy cheap buy twice" any further. Evoluent seems like a good choice for me because of its design over the MX Vertical. Thank you for the review.
