Logitech K850 Keyboard Disassembly and Cleaning

Logitech K850 Keyboard disassembly and cleaning short video. This is a 2yr old keyboard and left ctrl was being less sensitive, which I found had some dust deposit after opening up.
Make sure to look for the three hidden screws behind the rubber pads. The sides are hardest to pry open, use a plastic card to do the job, otherwise you'll damage the body.

My son spilled soda on the keyboard and now some of the keys are sticky. I was hoping to pull off just the keys that needed to be fixed but this video just showed me everything I'll have to do to open it up. Thank you for this- it was very helpful.

As the owner of MK850, the easy way to clean, recommended in the manual, is pop up the key. I clean the dust, spilled drink before, the way the keyboard designed is waterproof, unless you put your keyboard in the water, otherwise, no need to open from the back. The make the key sooooo easy to remove. This video is miss leading.

You're absolutely wrong. K850 doesn't allow popping open keys. The only way is to open from back.

@nullpointer57 you need a tool to pop open the keys. I just did it with my k850 that I've had for years and never cleaned until now. Lots of crumbs and hairs hide under the keycaps, you'd be surprised. Sometimes you may need to use a bit more force than you're comfortable with to pop the keys off. But it's possible and easier with a tool. They sell them online

Are you talking about the "legs" at the back? They come out easily - fold the largest one flat and the smaller one standing up, then squeeze the side at the open end of the smaller one and it will pull out; once this is out you can do the same with the larger one. To replace them, just reverse this - squeeze them slightly and push back into the slots.

I'm using the Xiaomi screw kit box. It's marked PH1 and PH00. These are just very common and the most simple (+) heads

How you are keeping the attached wrist rest clean?

  • @nullpointer57

You could actually open up the wrist rest and clean it out separately under running water. When I opened the keyboard, I internationally did not screw back the inner screws of the wrist rest. So when I need to wash it, I can open only the external bottom screws, and wrist rest comes loose. Easier to wash without worrying about electronics part.

If you don't want to get so involved, then just wipe it with a damp cloth, and scrub with a light brush.

@@nullpointer57 thanks for this. It's good to know it's removable without the full teardown.

@@triggerking135 you've to do a full tear down at least once to remove the inner extra screws.
