Logic Pro X Groove, Quantize, Swing and Humanize Tutorial

In this Logic Pro X tutorial James demonstrates one of the most important and least used methods of making music feel human, funky and naturally played. This video demonstrates how incorporating various elements of swing, humanization and quantization can give your tracks a professional feel that also adds longevity to your music production by making it less machine like.
By using Groove Templates, James shows how Logic Pro can extrapolate grooves from pre-existing midi and audio files from existing music or famous drum machines and use those grooves to apply them to all or some of the individual elements to your track to help you avoid using straight 16th grid programming.
Logic Pro X has many powerful and easy ways to create, take and implement Groove, Swing and Humanize to your music. This tutorial covers all of these functions.

    Very well explained. For some reason though, after selecting "Make groove template", when I then go to apply it to my MIDI it's not in the list of available groove templates. I've tried multiple times. Does anyone know why this is?

    Can’t you also just make a certain track the groove track, then tell the other tracks to follow the groove track?

  • @SchoolofSynthesis

    @SchoolofSynthesis

    Жыл бұрын

    Yes you can show groove track and star the track you want the others to follow but the issue there is it gets hidden and then every time you make a change or record something new you forget and have to re star and re follow. I just think it's amazing theory but hard to implement the whole way

    What's the Bass sound you're using?

  • @SchoolofSynthesis

    @SchoolofSynthesis

    3 жыл бұрын

    Hi Michael, the bass sound is a relatively straightforward single oscillator bass patch in Spire with a sprinkle of saturation from FabFilter Saturn and Plugin Alliance's Black Box Analog Design HG-2. Set the oscillator mode to FM, mix in a little bit of sin with the WT mix to taste, set your cutoff envelope to be snappy and apply the perfecto lp4 filter and that's about it. You can play with the unsion voices, detune and width of the oscillator to help sit it in your mix a bit better/beef it up. Also adjusting the phase of the oscillator can help you dial in the character of the attack of the sound. James.
