This feels like CHEATING (drum groove hack)
"Sting" is by far the craziest MIDI generating Max for Live device out there. When paired with Ableton Live's Drum Rack you can create countless drum grooves that are unique to you. In this video I'll show you how. Enjoy! Grab this project file here: bit.ly/431gwDu

Make sure you record the sting midi or the new groove to an audio file. Otherwise you will lose the groove every time you reopen the project, as sting doesn’t preserve its state ❤😢

Is there any way to record it directly to MIDI? That's been my biggest hurdle with other MFL devices
@leoislo
10 ай бұрын
@@mileezy yes- open a new blank midi track, and set the midi input to the channel where your drum rack (or other midi instrument) is set up. then hit record and the notes will be recorded to that blank track.

Some M4L devices have a "clip" button that will output a clip to session view. I love that feature, and I wish all MIDI-generating M4L devices had it.

@johnymstsure, i guess you could. Been a while since I used it but I used it with serum or other synths. But mess around, you can get some cool bass. Then you can record the midi notes into a new track and edit that midi.

This is genius, and a lot of fun to play around with, thank you!
WOW! Such a fresh approach to create new "embellishments" for the drum groove. It feels like having a percussionist around! Thanks!
Amazing video, very inspiring 🙌
Great Lesson! Nice way of presenting; love it; thx for sharing 🙏
This is crazy! What a gem. Also have to give you a compliment for your enthusiasm and clear way of explaining the different possibilities. Great vid!

Dope technique! Thanks for sharing this method! 😁👊
This is the best video to do with music production I’ve seen in 11 years (since I started) … BIG ups!!!!! ❤❤❤
Wow nice grooves!
This is sick... Thank you
Very cool, thanks! It's also useful to choke the samples in the drum rack when the samples are long or when playing with open / closed hats
Excellent stuff!
its good for everything, drums, percussion, chords, vocals etc
Broo I don't even produce this genre but tbh your videos are extremely inspiring. Keep it going!
Great video, I do something very similar but tend to use step sequencers like Stepic or HyPlugins that have a few more options for randomness.
SO COOL!!! TNX FOR SHARING
Looking forward to play with this thanks 😀

Very cool trick, bro. Automatic creativity.
If u have a loop that u like sonically just drag it in a simpler and slice it. Then have endless variations of this loop with sting

2:53 Actually it's pretty easy to clean-up a drum rack, you just need to open device Chain List and then you can use CTRL + A > Del to get rid of the current samples :) And thanks for the tutorial, the idea is very cool!

A fun way of using Sting with pads or samples is to use Slice mode and Sting will pick random bits of the slices

yeah most experts on youtube are indeed experts but their music kinda sucks. All the DAWs are basically the same, FL is more hiphop, Ableton more dance/electronic but they are very similar

This is so good. Do you have just the tulum drums for sale? I see your pack has a lot of other samples, but I’m interested in just the drums. Thanks

like nice job LotusTunes. plenty of kudos to SKINNERBOX for making this crazy device, but most people would stop at spending 10 minutes just saying "look-at-this-crazy-thing-someone-made." thank you for taking a clever cool thing and teaching a clever cool way to make it cleverer and cooler and just a whole thing to explore and get lost in. you really earned that subscribe bud.
