Stem splitting, either in MPC, Logic, or anywhere else... still blows my mind. It's magical. What an age.

I was out of my mind when I found out Logic was doing stem separation. I’ve been using it like crazy the past couple days. Dope video. 😎👍🏽
This is what I’ve been looking for. Thank you!

Thanks for the comparison Marlow! Now those stems are ready to dump into the 202 🍳
Great demo Marlow. Now I might have to update my OS today so I can try this logic version.
@mpchead

Yeah is worth the update, there are a few extra things in there also.
I didn't even know Logic had stems. I liked the video for bringing that to my attention alone. Also, for anyone that needs to know this, Logic also has REALLY good EQ matching capabilities. I recently found that out.
Their should be a threshold dial so when stemming, you could tighten or loosen the artificial residue.
We need a threeway battle with Serato Sample in the mix, great video cheers.
Would love to see a comparison with this alongside Serato DJ Pro 3.0 as well!
Cheers Marlow! Updating my OS to try

do you have or could you make a video on intergrating logic and mpc live 2 together, like how you use it and the best ways to make them work together. i am not super musical so thats why i want to use the mpcs feature of chords progressions and the pad system to control what im doing in logic as well as use plugins only offered with logic to produce. thanks marlow, love all your content and style, been a fan for years!
Great comparison, thank you. Are you than importing the logic stems wave into the MPC ?

@@mpchead mine too🙂 it’s very easy to, I use a 2TB internal SSD drive on my MPC x se. So easy to copy the logic stems over to the MPC…
great info as always hey do you use the mpc in Logic and if so how would you set it up thx
@mpchead

I don't, mostly standalone and then record my final product into Logic for final mastering.
problem with logic is that they have stems separate only on 11.0.0 that only on macOS 13.5, but logic fucked up cause tooooooons of users still on 12.7.5 macOS vers... They should add it tho.

How do you setup your Rhodes as far as reverb and settings are concerned? Got the Arturia Stage VST and just cant get it sound warm at all... Thank you
Great comparison vid Marlow...I also agree that Logic Pro is better for stems than Akai.....much cleaner and more detail...Loving it! Akai needs go back to the drawing board & also needs to be standalone, should ve in my opinion been standalone from the jump..Akai are you listening?? Logic Pro for the win!

@@mpchead I guess the stems you share on a regular basis are coming from MPC Stems, just a thought that you could export "Logic version" from time to time :)
Will this ever come to Maschine? I feel like my dishwasher will have stems before Maschine does.

Like you I am happy with the stem separation in logic .. i also believe MPC although does a great job at it but in my opinion nowhere near how Logic has mastered it!! I’m still riding with my Live 2 tho 😂😂😂
I just got logic .. you have a sampler also with the Daw .. ??? Can you make a beat with the MPC ..Sequence and Song mode via MPC .. export to logic ..and assign your drum sounds from the MPC to logic drum designer, so if I want to create another drum pattern inside logic it consists of the same sounds ..
Hey Marlow, are you synching the MPC X with logic, and if so, can you do a video on it???? Thanks in advance…I am going to buy a new macbook pro and interface, using logic pro….
@mpchead
13 күн бұрын
I am not syncing the two, I didn't the stems in the mpc then loaded them up in Logic for the comparison.
I wonder how doing a little EQ first would help certain stems separate.

I didn’t think about that. I’m going to try that out 👍🏽
I wonder if ableton could use their warping algorythm along side a stems algo to make an even better version of stems
What kind of usb hub your rockin with?
I wonder if Pro Tools will follow the stem wave also?
Now we need a Logic Sampler/Groovebox that will operate tethered and standalone! Not an IPad, either.
Logic has always been an higher standard in professional. I use mpc but it becomes a toy near logic.
Is this the new version of Logic Pro X ?

I’ll bet they both do better w/ uncompressed audio (vinyl, etc.).
Yeah you have to a newer computer for the Logic upgrade...
@mpchead

I didn't know that.
Good analysis Marlow, Logic def kills the MPC. Wonder how Logic would do against Serato since I haven't seen the comparisons yet. Personally I've been rocking with the Serato stems for several months. Love the fact I can load up the VST on my M1 mac and then continue on my pc. I wouldn't mind giving Logic a real chance, but if it's not on both platforms it's a no go.
Kick a dope verse guy has never paid my royalties, just be careful
Stems have available in Cubase since 5 years ago and it does an incredible job, and they keep improving it every time. Akai is never going to have stems in stand alone until they make new machine with more cpu power, Akai is just a software company selling midi controllers and with all the hype they created about stems, they just got blown out by Logic, someone needs to tell them to go back into doing what gave them the name a proper sampler with pro level audio converters, Great Video as usual. Thank You.
Be careful they may take the XSE back…🤣

Do you always go for the 1st thing you hear …
One thing I thought the MPC had over Logics stems is that you can make the separation at any time right? So you can chop up a break into a song and then decide that you just want the bass or keys etc. That feels like a big deal as you don’t always know what you want to do with a sample until later on. But yeah, if fidelity is a thing, logic or even better LALA online is best but that takes a bit of time.
thats dope, great analysis. I'm about to start learning logic this weekend, been a long time coming. - dom @daplyfe
