Lockdown viewing - Class 37s 2012 - 2020.

Автокөліктер мен көлік құралдары

A bit of entertainment for people stuck indoors during lockdown; a compilation of Class 37 clips taken from 2012 - 2020 showing the class at work on a variety of duties all over the country. They're not put together in a particular order but I've tried to pick the clips I have which are the most entertaining. I hope you enjoy watching it as much as I enjoyed putting it together.

    Always loved the fact that they sound so throaty & full of grunt but the horn sounds like a squeaky toy hammer.

    Without doubt one of the best Class 37 compilations I've seen. Even the scenery is stunning but your audio is second to none - every grunt from these old growlers is reproduced in all it's savagery even long after they've passed from view. Totally mesmerising, top job!

    Put together the thrashing and clanging, the horn, the beautiful UK countryside, and the lockdown, and what you have is the perfect video of all time; thanks so much for coming up with the idea. Watching it from the states makes all the more wonderful.

    Brilliant thank you so much for sharing this, especially the bit where you left the sound to linger until the sheep took over. That throaty throb bellow of the 37 has, for me at least therapeutic qualities.

    These 37 two strokes seem to accelerate quickly at such low rpm the torque must be insane ...we never had anything like this in North America..

    4:15 As a child this was a regular sound for me. You could hear it before you could see it 🤣 the Crewe branch line was down the road from me with regular freight passing at all hours. Typical Class 37 sound. Raw unadulterated power.

    Why do 37 drivers keep blipping the throttle & backing off all the time, even when accelerating, why not just floor it?

    Why on and off the throttle?

  • @tutankahmun

    @tutankahmun

    2 жыл бұрын

    Sometimes it's he driver doing it, on most occasions though it's an automatic anti-wheelslip function. When the loco detects that it's wheelslipping (usually due to the amps falling quickly due to the decreased torque) the power is automatically shut off and will then come back in again. Some drivers will ease the power back so that the power doesn't come back in at full power (and usually cause the loco to slip again). Other drivers however will just leave the throttle wide open and let the anti-slip protection do all the work.
