The more you go, the better you get

Fun to watch. May I suggest a pulley system since you will be doing this often. Also to remove the fishing rod while recording.

Thanks man! Good feedback. I’ve been thinking I want a pulley or a puller. Just don’t want to spend the money on them. Thanks for watching!

@@artemisadventures1734I have Scotty puller, they’re $50 and attach to your rail. You can take the pulley off and use the base for other Scotty products. These are back savers!

Thanks for all the tips. It’s my first year lobster hopping with 2 traps and so far I get no luck. I go out of shelter island. Usually how long do you leave the hoop before pulling them? And where are some good spots of increasing my chances? I was told by the live bait around 40 feet, but I didn’t get anything last week I was there.

I leave my hoops down for about 30-45 minutes after setting my last hoop. For spots to go, I can’t give you any spots…. You’ve got to put in the time to get your own secret spots. :) A couple things come to mind that may help you though: with only two hoops, your odds are worse than with 5 or 10 hoops. I usually do 10 hoops and most of them come up empty. The more hoops, the better your odds. The other thought, if I only had two hoops, I’d use the fish finder to locate structure and drop those two hoops right on top of the marks. There are a few around those docks that you are fishing. I don’t think they’re secrets so I don’t mind telling you that.

I have. I used to pack my bait tubes when I was cutting the tuna. Then I’d freeze the whole tubes. I really think live sardines work better now. I could be wrong…. I may have stumbled on to a good fishing area the same time I switched to sardines. Who knows…

From my experience, sardines work the best. I’ve had the same luck with cut up live ones and with leftovers from fishing that I froze. Mackerels and salmon heads work but not as good sardines. The sardines have doubled the amount of oils in them.
