LMS Galatea In Full Attack Mode Over The Devon Banks ! The Royal Duchy
Автокөліктер мен көлік құралдары
LMS 45699 Galatea masquerading as 45627/45562 was put in the charge of the Royal Duchy and what followed was a superb outbound display over the Devon Banks most notably over Dainton.
We captured Both legs of the tour up Dainton and we'd witness the single chimney Jubilee attacking the lower and higher sections of the steep winding climb to Dainton Tunnel in less than ideal conditions but the end results was a fine soundtrack of a Jubilee in full attack mode !
The precursor to Devon Banks would be a high speed run towards Taunton and the idea for us was to capture the Jubilee racing through a few stations. Nailsea & Backwell followed by Yatton were the locations of choice and steam at speed is what we got !
I hope you enjoy this video of a proper steam hauled excursion

Top notch camerawork and so nice to see a full maroon rake, no diesel and a loco in the correct livery at full chat!
Galatea was certainly putting on a fine fettle run thanks to her crew. Richard
Wow what a sound!
ooh proper treat- it certainly was giving it large- sound and video brilliant - thank you MSV for sharing this with us much appreciated
Nice to see the absence of the usual diesel on the back!
Great set of shots, and you missed the rain i saw in others 👍👍👍👍. Last but one at upper Daignton was a classic framed by that tree, brilliant

Many thanks Robert, I can confirm the rain was present all day but it did ease for the shots up Dainton.
I admire the effort you're putting into these videos! They're amazing!

Wow, gives me the shivers remembering Luton station in the fifties with Jubs thundering through like this. Thank you.

Cheers C&A, the sounds from Galatea were right up there with the best I've heard from a Jube !
Beautiful. I always love full face approach shots of Galatea, the sheer symmetry and proportion seen face-on makes her a living work of art
Wonderfull show from the Jubilee in full cry Liam and phil, and a great video to match, just returning home tonight from the IOM steam festival and its heavy rain . 🌧⛈🎥👍

*Great Shots !*
The sequence at 3:25 was excellent. Thank you for using the word 'real' to describe this tour. Even though I'm from overseas, and understand how the need to provide steam heating or electrical power may necessitate a diesel at rear with some tour operators, and Network Rail may insist at other times, it'd be great if the operators would realise that where feasible, it'd be better to have the diesel following a section or two behind (fitting in between regular trains) rather than so often being attached. The fares seem expensive: more so than in NSW and Victoria in Australia, and yet median incomes in Oz are higher, so surely the operators can afford to do this? (Track access charges may also be high).
Great shots. Loved your locations for the return Dainton shots. A great sense of power!!

Many thanks Hugh, it was a Tour De Force !
Klasse video :)
Really good video especially the latter clip framed with branches and leaves. I wonder if these days are threatened by the mine closure in Wales

Many thanks, not really due to coal currently coming from Kazakhstan, Poland and in some cases Colombia. There is still some Welsh Coal knocking around.
What's not to love about Galatea?
