LMS 45231 & 70000 Britannia Power Up The Lickey Bank - The Bristol Forty !
Автокөліктер мен көлік құралдары
The return leg of the Bristol Forty excursion would see Black Five 45231 Sherwood Forester & 70000 Britannia tackle the famous Lickey Bank. Four angles capture the ascent of the steepest railway gradient in the UK. The spectacle was somewhat underwhelming due to the vigorous blowing off from Britannia which blotted out the audio of both locos. Thankfully the going away shots pick up the sound a lot better near the summit, though the Black Five is really the only audible loco.
It was still great to see steam up this famous stretch of line. I hope you enjoy the video.

Wow. Absolutely Beautiful. Great Video.
Beautiful shots, and the audio was excellent
A piece of cake for these two beauties and steam to spare!!!!!! 👍👍👌👌
Great footage as usual. I particularly liked the trees framing the going away and the chime was a nice bonus.
Fantastic shots, very enjoyable and atmospheric.
Awesome sights and sounds of the double header!! Great video!
Very nice - lovely to see 'the old girls' working hard, and with comparative ease. Thanks for sharing. Al.
Spot on Liam, even though the Brit was blowing off still a great sound from the pair especially audio wise going away 👍🎥

Two beauties for the price of one , Thank you both 🙏🏻🚂
About 480 tons. Impressive.
This is a cracking video, thank you for posting it 👍
Excellent video Liam and Phil. Wonderful sounds of the pair climbing the incline. Lovely angles. Kind regards C&A
Solid British engineering which lasts. As much power as you want.
Great set of shots, thank you 👍👍👍
I was down at kings Norton when they came through and 45231 is due to move again this time to the seven valley railway tomorrow
Look at them go!!
Phenomenal Video :D
Very nice video Liam and Phil :)
LMS loco number 45231 at its best with another loco 70000 thundering at their best speed down the valleys.
Steam and steel, nothing else can match it.
'Majestic'
👍
Sorry guys a classic railway location ruined by the 'twigs'!
Good to see them using a generator car, rather than a 47 on the tail!

I’m out of touch now, is that rear coach to provide ETH or steam heating ?

@@exb.r.buckeyeman845 ETH. Quite a few rakes used for specials use the old Mk2 air con ones as well, so steam is not an option. One of two lines, like the GWSR, do have some preserved diesels with boilers on board, though.
Really no need to be too deprecating about the sound. I think as we can see here, a Class 5 + Class 7 can handle 11 coaches up there with ease, if they can take a run at it, it was only the archaic layout at Bromsgrove and the outdated operating regulations thst made banking necessary for passenger trains

Not altogether sure about that! Spent many an hour doing my homework on Blackwell Station 1950-1954. Often the 3 "jinties"were doing all the work and the black five or jubilee were trying to preseve steam pressure to take the train over Coften Hackett; and be economic with water since no "bags" at B'ham New St.
