Moving Pictures is one of the best (prog)rock albums ever made. Gues we all agree on that. The lyrics of this beautiful piece are indeed very good for English lessons. I was fortunate to also have an English teacher in (a Dutch) high school who worked a lot with lyrics. For example, we had to analyze Message in a Bottle by the Police. I learned a lot from that and I am still grateful for it. I look forward to your analysis! Greetings from a very frosty and snowy The Netherlands.

Such a winning riff from the get-go, unfolding into a typical RUSH sound. But also the lyrics, quite openly dealing with the life of a "rock star" trying to reconcile his role with the real human being underneath it. Sticking to real relations among the masks and "roles" we all play - as player-portrayers, as rabid fans, as knowledgeable critics etc., etc. As before, this is not deeply enigmatic text, but wonderfully well-written. And the way those long lines and rhymes fall together to make a song, when they ought to seemingly fall apart, is exquisite. I am not surprised, but I am surely impressed!

VERY INTERESTED... in what you would have to say about one of my favorite Rush albums, the "controversial" POWER WINDOWS from the mid 80's. Enjoying everything so far. Keep having fun!

In this journey, I listen to the whole album when I react to one song. So 40 years later, it is like a rediscovery. I did not know Permanent Waves : I loved it. I knew Moving Pictures; I re-discovered it with great joy. Mych better album than I remember. I just listen to Signals; I have to say that I understand my reaction as a young man : so much synths. I think I lost interest at that time. But now, as a season man, I re-discovered Signals with new ears and new eyes. A much better album than what I remembered. It is just... when you have expert musicians in guitar, bass and drums, and suddenly arrive synths all over the map... and they are not expertly played synths, your are bound to have a deception. But this being said: today I can see musicians outgrowing themselves, exploring, evolving, etc. Rush always made the things their own way. There is NO DOUBT in my mind that, today, I will understand their journey/evolution. They always were musicians first; rock icons and stars, not really. They did not behave according to that status. They did there own music, the way they wanted. Commercial success was not a criterion. One song of Power Windows was elected among the 10 songs of this series, so I will do! :-) Peace!

Oh what?? Oh YES YES YES, this one really got me like I told you earlier! I have to tell that I didin`t know what Limelight means in finnish, and at very first I saw a shining light of that little green citrus-fruit in my head and thought how beautiful songname this is, word limelight also sounds so good! Well, now I know what limelight means :D Parrasvalot/parrasvaloissa in finnish :)

Fr. i always say the line "i can't pretend a stranger is a long awaited friend", is possible the best lyric of any song (ok, aside from the Perry Como version of Ave Maria, but i am a cradle Catholic and of course would say that lol)

Le video et l'album Exit Stage Left ont été enregistrés au bon vieux Forum de Montréal en 1981, d'où probalement vient ton sentiment de déjà-vu :) Le "B" side du premier 33 tours a été enregistré en Ecosse en 1980.

@@GuylainPrince What has always impressed me about Rush is the quality of their musicianship from their early years through out their 40 plus year career. They never slowed down compared to other aging bands. If you have a chance watch their performance in Cleveland, Ohio I believe it was in 2015 and compare.
