Hello & Welcome to Harnetty Railways
For the 1st time since August 2020 we make our welcome & long awaited return to The Llangollen Railway during the 1st day of their Branch Line Gala Weekend.
This had been 4 years in the making of us returning to the railway since the pandemic & 3 years in the making of travelling on the line as we were not confident at the time of the railway not having sufficient amount of motive power within the steam department.
Then as we all know the well documented problems after the railway's PLC went into administration putting the railway's future in serious jeopardy & the threat of what Beeching failed to achieve in the 1960's & that's close the line for gd.
Now fast forward to 2024 the railway is now in a much more happier place with allot of hard work & change of management the railway is prospering to an all time high as we will see in this program.
We start at Llangollen station as we see newly returned to traffic resident GWR pannier tank 7754 with also newly returned to traffic after 2 years out 38xx heavy gds loco 3802 after a prolong period in the workshop.
We join the double header for the run to Corwen which this was the 1st time we had gone right into Corwen following the completion of the railway's Corwen extension back in 2023.
We see the 2 locos running round their train before they departed back to Llangollen.
We next see the 2 on separate trains as we 1st see 7754 coming round the curve as she approaches Carrog with some of the suburban coaches.
A little while later we see 3802 arrive from Llangollen with 98% of the train being Chocolate & Cream MK1's as he comes round the curve into Carrog.
We end this video with the long awaited solo bash from Llangollen all the way to Corwen & this was a red pen day as this was our 1st ride behind 3802 on this line.
After a great run we arrived at Corwen which is were we end this video.
We would like to conclude by saying a huge thanks to all the unsung heroes of The Llangollen Railway in not only saving the line from closure & but also making this event possible.
We look forward to Llangollen again at some point in the future this time to get some lineside locations ticked off.
