yt funilly is more good for them, creative freedom, money from clients aND money from video views. in a tv show the cash they would ear would not go all to them, the company they would sign with would take share too. plus, depending on the channel, some ppl might have it some don't. and they already have loyal costumers and clients coming in so, they don't see the point of it. but the biggest part is creative freedom and not being bind down by contract. as a designer and architect, this is our *i study to be an architect* biggerst dream and wish for when we get out of uni and into the working world. which is very hard. you might get creative freedom but 100%. also contracts have requierments like "you need this audience or it will flop, if it flops you might be made to pay "damage", it's all a bitch. so why the hussle and drag when they're doing very good already and the most important thing, they love it.
