    Wow! That startup is so much easier than the 206! The pilot does an excellent job of explaining this procedure.

    Hi thanks for watching, the PSI is showing the residual temperature left in the engine, in percentage terms, the MGT also shows the residual temperature. When the starter is engaged the NG will cool the residual.

    Perhaps need to add a check that the fluorescent penetrant inspection of the right collective has been performed within 25 hours of the flight and that you are either sitting in the left seat or have a second pilot sitting in the left seat as single pilot flight from the right seat is prohibited since the collective lever may snap off in your hand at anytime.

    Each one of these videos is better than the previous. Well done! Q: what happens if the co-pilot throttle switch is set to flight and the pilot's is set to idle?

  • @HelixAvBell

    @HelixAvBell

    4 жыл бұрын

    Hi Bob thanks for the comment. If the co-pilot throttle was in the fly position the FADEC would take the aircraft to 104% NR which is not a problem as the 505 can be started in either idle or fly. The reason for the check is so that it doesn't catch you by surprise. Whichever throttle is selected to fly becomes the master throttle.

    505 or 407. Maybe I should buy both. It would be for personal use only. The 407 being bigger and more expensive is not ideal but its IFR certified. I guess if money was no object buy the 505 for training and the 407 for every day use. I really like that little beast though. If it was IFR certified it would be perfect in most ways for me. Thank you, I appreciate you making these videos. Be safe.

    505 has all the features, & capable of IFR, likely to be certified for IFR flight.

    At 7:24 why is the power situation gauge at about 15% with gas temp at 240+ before you engage the starter? Maybe this was discussed in a previous video, but where is the power and heat coming from, and how is there power without any compressor speed and/or rotor RPM?

    The first helicopter ever, which has absolutely no angle it looks pretty from. Incredible how they managed to build something like this from genes inherited from the 206/407.

    Decent performance for size and MGWT. However, I am profoundly disappointed in the design and build quality. In a word, it is junk -- like a Yugo with rotor blades. Cheaply built with unacceptable fit and finish since Bell was pointless trying to meet the price point of the Robinson R-66. Warranty service is excellent! Which is a good thing since we used it seven times in the three months I flew and managed a BH-505. Stay away.
