@@gossipopithecus Lots of paperwork required - easier as your wife is Thai - you could get a joint account and then convert to other visa, such as retirement and then get an individual account. Make sure you have an ID which matches your passport country, such as driving licence. Arguments such as I have not lived in my country of birth for 20 years are meaningless here!

Exactly right. If one is prepared to throw off the shackles of a western way of life and live like a local, eat like a local and behave like a local a low budget will spread far. The budgets of sexaholics , alcoholics and western food cravers will not last long unless they have very deep pockets.

But for food, room, water, electricity, sex, gasoline, internet, clothes, hair cut and all daily expenses I do not spend more than 20000thb. 76442 in july but if you remove the health insurance it is only 17583 thb

@Alex Arthur Because you can live within your means. Without a family you don't need a posh house or apartment, you can eat street food and only paying for 1. Thailand get expensive when you 'don't live Thai' and I hate using that phrase because most of the Thai I know are rich, drive BMW and each in expensive restaurants wear £20,000 watches. So a car is 3 times the value of Europe, is you want a BMW it's £60,000 for example. My daughter's school is 500,000B a year. £13,000. Supermarket shopping is more expensive than UK.

@@benrawson007I think if you don’t go for the overpriced luxury lifestyle it’s possible but if I go to Thailand I want to have the same or even better lifestyle than here in Europe. With a budget around 100k to 200k THB you can have a really good (western) lifestyle at least that’s my experience. I don’t buy stuff, I rent it (condos, cars…) but actually a cab is much cheaper than a luxury car, so why even buy one? I target Thailand as travel destination and later as a pension domicile. Here in Switzerland 🇨🇭 school is for free, even the university is free as long as you meet the requirements (grades). There is no reason to go to Thailand before pension. Luckily Swiss pensions are high, around 200k THB monthly is usual. Alternatively you can go to Vietnam, it’s around 30% to 40% cheaper than Thailand (for now).

Very informative thanks, a little unclear if the 60,000 baht included the accommodation as it is a guide if roughly what you spend. Do you spend 12,000 baht on accommodation?

Is jungceylon shopping centre open? I remember they had lots of different food places, all you can eat hotpot, pre covid when I visited last.

I am quite surprized by your "Living on a Budget video", as I don't think you are 60,000 baht every month. I believe you live within your means but enjoy what you have, we are not millionaire that will not make you happy, its about quality of life rather than quantity . My home I share with my lady which we are very happy for is 3,500 baht including light & water. we live in Jomtien a 15 minutes walk from the beach and a 100 baht ride from Pattaya center. We have everything we can ask for in our home and decorated anyway we can . We live in a Thai community, and surrounded by my ladies family. Our monthly spend is about 20,000 baht every month and there is nothing we are missing out on...

Great video, thank you. I suggest trying alum crystal instead of deodorant. It's natural and way cheaper. You can buy it there.
