This was a great video Sergio! I’m in Puerto Vallarta AND so excited to check out Sayulita tomorrow for a few days TO peep some co live/work locations To make a plan for my trip in January and other trips after! I’d love to know more about managing work life balance on the road and how to choose an affordable hostel without too many distractions and also chances to meet people as well as have private time to recharge as an ambivert (extrovert which can recharge alone and with people) it seems tricky in a dorm situation or a more party focused hotel since I’m a light sleeper and snoring dorm mates would e a real problem for me even with earplugs. Any tips you can provide would be greatly appreciated! I’m on WhatsApp (hopefully you’re a real human lol) or can talk on here or Facebook etc. thanks so much in advance! My remote jobs starts on the 29th and I am currently in Mexico getting the field for things and heading to Costa Rica for a month in January and between now and then getting my bearings at home with the new job before I add travel and digital nomad lifestyle to the mix.

I've been in Sayulita for a while now and this is the best youtube video on Sayulita I've seen. Most of them would give more false impressions than accurate ones. Good job Sergio. However, there is a pretty glaring absence of content. Apparently, Sergio isn't much into music or nightlife. Sayulita is a party town as much as it is a surf town. The most accurate T-shirt I've seen here says "This tequila tastes like I won't be surfing tomorrow". There's plenty to do for people who aren't that into music and adult beverages but that is a huge part of what Sayulita is.

It seems that the only person that I saw in this video wearing a mask was the dude selling the frozen banana. Is this what it is like in Mexico, essentially no one else in the video, Mexicans or tourists, no masks and no social distancing?

There’s a great article about this in the Washington Post specifically about Oaxaca that came out about a week ago. Many people there are fed up with foreigners visiting or living in the area temporarily, 90% of whom are not wearing masks. Many Mexicans there have family members who’ve died or had complications. The article theorizes that foreigners who travel to Mexico have a prevailing attitude that Mexico is an attractive place because there are no rules, it’s seen as an escape from the oppressive west during the pandemic. Living mostly outdoors with a sea breeze, a lot of these beach communities can escape major infection rates but the issue is complicated in Mexico because testing costs 50 dollars so very few people get tested and you can only guess at the severity based on hospitalizations and deaths.
