I have a daughter who moved to Puerto Morales Mexico from Florida. One of the main reasons was the high cost of living in Florida. She definitely shares many of the pros and cons you mention. The main problem she is having is making an income. She is very beautiful(like you) and I encourage her to start a you tube channel and just start making videos. What sets other you tubers apart is Charisma, and you have it!

Thanks for sharing the cons of Sayulita. The sickness is becoming a major problem here. In December of 2021 Sayulita was ranked top 3 most polluted beaches in all of Mexico. Hopefully people start to take notice and fix this major issue.

There used to be a problem with the ocean water in Sayulita, but the replaced the sewage treatment plant a couple years ago and the water has tested fine since then. My wife and I have spent much of the last 3 years living there. We usually get some type of digestive distress every 3 months or so. It generally comes from unwashed produce. You need to soak all your fresh fruits, vegetables and herbs in a water/vinegar bath for about 10 minutes after you get home from the market and hope the restaurants follow this procedure...of course mistakes are made. I once got sick from unwashed mint in a Mojito at the nicest restaurant in town. It's just a numbers game. If you spend enough time there, you are gonna have this happen. Also, be sure to hit a pharmacia for a Vermox tablet every 3-6 months. It costs $5 and is an anti paracite medicine that is good long term preventative care.

    @AmyJubb-ox2ee

It’s not true that they fixed this issue - that was PR by the town to keep tourists coming. It won’t be fixed until a whole new treatment plant is built but enough people have to complain. Was just there in Feb 2024 and my entire family as well as every tourist we encountered (other than the ones who had just arrived) has all been violently ill - to the point you almost have to be hospitalized. It’s so deeply toxic there - please don’t go and definitely don’t take your children and make the mistake we did.

I am glad you mentioned about people getting sick. I spent three months in a Puerto Escondido. And was sick for two months with a real bad stomach flue. I stayed at Selina and most of the people where sick. I linked it to the beach, once I stopped going to the beach I started feeling better. Toward 6 weeks into my trip the whole beach town had a huge explosion of sick people within 1 week. My advice is not to eat watery foods from the local vendors and try not to spend to much time at the beach. Hostels are also a brewing ground for sickness.

Hi Crosby, another in a long line of great videos. You did a nice job with listing the Pros and Cons. And that is nice they do have a great selection of Vegetarian food. How long have you been a Vegetarian, and how strict are you with it? Great suggestions of avoiding the crowds on weekends with less crowds during the weekday. Love the videos and pictures you do, you really capture all the colors of the town, sights, and people. Thanks for the suggestions on Internet/work, a must for anywhere I go. Sayulita is paradise lost. We visited a couple of time several years ago. Sleepy fishing village. Rented a house on the south side of town on the top of hill, 70 steps from the street to the front door. What a view of the town and the beach. Due to tourist taking over most of the beach towns I have moved inland. Just returned home from a 2-week motorcycle trip in the Yucatan, Belize and Guatemala.

Hola! Thanks for this excellent video and for your candor. I am a former cancer survivor so chemo wiped my immune system clean. I have to be strict with what I eat/drink/do. But, I just got back from 2 wks in Yucatan, and didn't get sick once. I don't eat raw vegs, smoothies, or street food (except home made tamales) - I bought my own food at Chedraui and cooked pretty much everything I ate. Traveling is expensive and I just don't want to risk downtime due to sickness.

regarding which beaches you can see the sunset from - depends what time of year you are there. in the late fall and winter, yes the sun sets behind the point from the main beach, but in the spring and summer as the sun moves higher in the sky the sun sets more straight out into the ocean where you can see it from about half way up the main beach. another thing to be aware of if coming in the rainy season is when the rain is heavy the power and internet can be out for hours at a time. the longest I was without in Oct 2021 was 6 hours.

I stay at Casa Arbol. with the large Iguana on the side of the building. even at the most expensive restaurant, its cheap there. VERY cheap. I eat steak and shrimp at Don pedros for $35. or have tiny tacos for $1 each in the middle square. either way, its a great place. its loud and busy and fun.

I've been in Sayulita for over 3 years now. This is actually a very accurate video. Mostly. In 3 years I've never heard of anyone getting pick-pocketed. Just don't leave your purse or wallet unattended in a bar at night/ do things you wouldn't do anywhere else. Crime is very rare here but be more careful with your things on Mexican holidays. While unfortunate for the people staying at My Sister's House when she was there, Norovirus is not common Sayulita. Just bad timing. Also, the water on the south side of the main beach rarely gets people sick unless rain has washed things down from the "river". Best to avoid that area of Playa Sayulita after rain. Most of the year it doesn't rain and there isn't any water in the river. Thank you for the accuracy in your video, it gets fairly annoying to watch KZread reviews of Sayulita from travelers who were here for 15 minutes and have no idea what they are talking about. Bottom line: Sayulita is awesome. It is frequently referred to as "Stayulita" as people rarely leave until they have to. e.g. I came here for 4 weeks 3 years ago.

Got an airbnb in the north hills for quiet and still was loud as some of the main areas due to all the construction going on...Dont rent a car, nowhere to park and rental agencies have a way of upcharging for "necessary" insurance and other charges... golf carts are your friends...Also noticed a lot of the food handlers not washing / sneezing , coughing everywhere while preparing napkins and menus. Food is so good so maybe just have to look the other way 😬

My fiancé and I stayed in Sayulita for 10 days in Jan2023 . Great town, cool vibes and I prefer staying in these small towns…but expect to get sick. Norovirus is rampant in Sayulita …. I got sick for 2 days at the beginning of the trip, the last day of the trip and my fiancé was sick in the middle of the trip for 2 days. Fortunately our trip was 10 days long. Everyone we talked to said they had also gotten sick at least once during their trip. We even met some ex-pats there who confirmed even the locals get sick. You’ll start to notice all the tourists walking around carrying petolytle . We only drank bottled water, stayed at a nice hotel and ate only at the top However it could have been poor quality water bottled locally in town or the “bagged filtered ice “ . We didn’t go in the water at the main beach as the ma If I go back , I won’t eat any vegetables as they are washed with tap water and they only ice I’ll eat is ice I make in my hotel room. Unfortunately we were very jaded by blowing up out of both ends for multiple days.

Too many tools ruined it by telling too many people and is now just a tourist trap. It’s not what it was originally known as anymore and those days were what made it such a gem.

We heard about Sayulita 3 years ago from Tim & Fin (YTubers). Since, we keep hearing that it is too crowded and expensive. We are thinking of going to PV for 4 days at the casa you recommended. Then, going to one of the small beach towns south. We are old young people (62 &72), Hippies. Which town do you suggest? Bucerias, Sayulita, or San Pancho? Or should we stay in PV and take day trips?

Crosby, We spoke last year. I was in Puerto Escondido Nov - Early January. It was ok but there were things that bugged me a little. How do you compare P.E. to Sayulita. Do you have a preference?

I personally like Puerto Escondido more than Sayulita but it really does come down to personal preference! Thinking about doing a video comparing the two (I'm in PE now!)

@@CrosbyGraceTravels Well, sad I missed you. I do love Puerto E but I got burn out after about a month, enjoy though. I took off to Buenos Aires. Really like it down here, lots of other Digital Nomads. I don't know if you have ever been but worth putting on the list.

The Sayulita, Sickness is what they call it. Sayulita also has a very dark energy at night. Not dangerous just darker drug party energy. People go to Sayulita to let it really rip. It's pretty darn bonkers at night . I tried to live there ... big mistake for me. But a lot of life in the daytime. It pumps...

Great Video 👍 May I ask for help? Might any of you have encountered a woman who walks around selling her homemade big cookie covered Cocada. She has a big wooden tray with 4 different types of coconut flavors she wraps around a big cookie. Very Delicious! Might you know her contact info, Her Name, contact number. What day she sells them around the beach and beach front restaurants? I so appreciate it.

Pase mi infancia allí cuando no teníamos luz en muchas de las casas el piso de tierra y la casa de palma. El lugar era un paraíso hasta que se invadió de extranjeros. Ahora lo único que deseo es vender mi terreno.

I have spent much of the last 3 years in Sayulita and think she is being very fair mentioning keeping your purse and cell phones close. I have seen and heard more than a few first hand accounts of exactly what she is talking about. While you are eating streetside, keep your purse on your lap....do not hang it on the back of your chair. Do not leave your cell phone on table by the street side. Street perfomers can be distracting and if you don't use just a little caution, you will find your phone lifted off the table or from and open purse. BTW, this happens in Europe and the US as well. Sayulita is generally very safe...just take a bit of precaution.
