    Hey Megan loved the video it will definitely help when i get over there. I was due to travel to Vietnam and Thailand this year in late February for the first time but with the Covid Lockdowns unfortunately I had to cancel my travel plans until International travel opens up again. I definitely have wanted to visit DaNang as it kind of reminds me of the Asian version of the Gold Coast where I live in Australia with all the beaches and beautiful mountain sides as well as having around the same amount of population too....Obviously DaNang seems a hell of a lot cheaper to live in though lol. It really seems like a great place to live but I just have to wait a little longer before I can make it over hehe. I have subscribed to your channel and I look forward to catching up on more of your videos.

Also, I work remotely, so I would need to have excellent Internet (and a 4G backup, if possible). Hi Megan, thanks for this very informative video ! You're right about Da Nang, it's a nice city, I stayed there for a few days this winter only because you often mention the city and I enjoyed it better than some years ago ;-) ! One question about insurance : why not using a credit card insurance (gold or platinum) instead of a specific travel insurance ?

  • @PortableProfessional

    @PortableProfessional

    4 жыл бұрын

    Great question! Many of the credit card insurance offers are limited, at least for the ones I find in Canada. There are a lot of restrictions, and then the top up fees are high and I would always be out of the country longer than the free period (usually 21 days). This is not the case for all credit card, but I definitely recommend you look into the specifics before relying on it.

  • @adalix3954

    @adalix3954

    Or go for a platinum and bargain it to the max like I did : instead of paying 21 euros per month, it only costs me 4 euros (with the same top insurances). The only question does platinum provide the same service and insurances than in France ? dunno...

    Another great thing about booking a hotel the first couple days in any first time town is getting picked up at the airport. It's worth the extra few bucks to make sure that is available to you in your stay so that you avoid any scammer nonsense when you first arrive. I guess it's possible to get scammed by the hotel pick up service but I've never heard of it happening.

The plan is to teach and get a business visa, but obviously that will take some time. Do the landlords except tourist visas that are less than 6 months?

  • @PortableProfessional

    @PortableProfessional

    4 жыл бұрын

    No, I wouldn't get an apartment fr a shorter stay..... unless you want the cooking kitchenette. Signing a lease and paying a deposit is a hassle, and most landlords will not do it for less than 1 month. The hotels are so inexpensive - I'd recommend them for a shorter stay, or even on AirBnb if you don't want hotel room. YES! definitely recommend for a vacation. I did a video on top 10 things to do that you may enjoy if taking a trip :)

    When I travelled through Vietnam a lot of the hotels I was staying at were around $5-10 a night, the quality varied but I'm not a fussy guy. I think my strategy will be to book a hotel online for 2 nights then hunt for a cheaper hotel room to stay in for a week or two, I don't like the idea of trying to find an apartment within 2 days lol. I've only ever seen foreigners talk about living in the centre of the city, do you know anything about the apartment/house rental prices on the city outskirts? Does the price drop off a lot? (I never see any of these properties advertised online because the Vietnamese must assume foreigners want all the luxuries.)

I am in Costa Rica now,,,builded a house here,,,for the ease of it compare to Asian countries,,,but miss the Asian and budism ambiance,,,i still thinking of moving somewhere there,,,Laos was also very special and quiet place when i visited in 2000. take care
