If Judith's hair were long again, her face would look amazingly like it did in 1968. She's aged very well, and she was an exceptional Barbara!

I just now found out about "the living dead festival". I wish I had know about this since it first started. I WILL attend this year. I only wish that Karl ( Harry Cooper ) Hardman was still with us. I know he would have enjoyed talking with the fans. I first met Mr. Hardman in the summer of 1989, and he was one on the kindest people I have ever had the honor to have known. A friend of mine and myself drove 150 miles hoping to meet him at his studio on Carson in Pittsburg. He took several hours of his time to make us feel at home and answer any questions that we had. I hope to see everyone there this year. Kind of ironic that it will be going on when "The Walking Dead" season 5 premiers. Had it not been for NOLD there would be no TWD.

Yes and he was one of the biggest stars of it. Seems I remember there was a scene right before he grabs Barbara a shot of him standing with his eyes rolled back up in his head and nothing but whites were shown but it must to have been cut out later.

I can tell you, everyone involved with the movie are genuinely nice people. You should come to the festival this year! It's nothing like a normal horror convention- it's much more intimate. I can also say the John Russo is one of the funniest people you could ever meet..haha! Everyone is very friendly and happy to share stories about shooting the movie :)

***** Oh yes! Actually, this year it's the Living Dead Weekend. The festival is taking a break, but it's still gonna' be just as awesome :) It's being coordinated with the city (Evans City) by Kevin Kriess from the Living Dead Museum. So many awesome guests this year!

triciakitty, how incredible! There is something so mysterious about the ORIGINAL classic that remakes would never duplicate, no matter what. From the beginning, "terror" is in the air. Johnny's ill-fated clash with that horrible zombie still frightens me to this day. He slips on the grass and strikes his head on that tombstone. (How does anyone film such a scene without risking the actor's safety?) It is possible that he died immediately, but perhaps he was just injured, and it was another zombie that came along and bit his neck. It is up to our imaginations, of course, but striking his head on the tombstone was likely to have caused his end. Even when I visit a cemetery today, I think of Johnny's terrible fall, and I worry that it could happen to me, too! Wet and slippery grass with nearby stones or bricks make me nervous about falling, too!

I'll have to tell Russ your story..haha! He'd be happy to know that the movie..especially his scene with the headstone, had such an effect on someone. He likes it when the movie has any effect on people...especially if it really scared them. They had no idea that making that movie would have such an impact on the world. Hey! If you are able to make it to the festival, you can tell Russ in person! He's one of the guests..and such a nice, nice man :)

It's awesome when people do things like this for their fans. At the end did that man have to interrupt the story to say "lets get into the shade?" I think what he was saying was the car got damaged by the owner the day after the first shooting, so they incorporated the damage on the driver side into the movie by having it " hit" the tree. I always cringed at that because I loved that '67 LeMans as a kid! :) ( still do

PS: AT THE RISK OF SOUNDING REPETITIOUS, IT'S AMAZING & SAD, WHAT FATHER TIME DOES TO SOME(ALTHOUGH NOT ALL), BUT I MUST SAY MS. O'DAY HAS AGED QUITE WELL, BUT THE OTHER ACTOR WHO PLAYED HER BROTHER AT THE TIME DEFINITELY HAS AGED, WHICH IS NORMAL OF COURSE. BOY HAS HE AGED! STILL A CLASSIC FILM THOUGH, LIKE DARK SHADOWS IS CLASSIC GOTHIC TV EVEN AFTER 54 YEARS PLUS. TRULY INTERESTING TO SEE OLD MOVIE STARS REMINISCE ALL THESE YEARS LATER. CHEERS TO BOTH OF THEM & THANK GOD THEY'RE BOTH STILL W/US.

QUESTION: Was the cemetery scene filmed in Spring or Fall? Wikipedia says filming was June-December 1967. The trees were bare, and no snow, so I would guess November... BUT Johnny comments about losing an hour with the time change. That would've been Late April (DST Spring forward was the last Sunday of April in those days). Why would they put that in the script if they were filming in the fall? My guess is that Wikipedia is wrong, and that this scene was filmed in April 1967.

I read somewhere, that in the script, Romero was planning on having Ben commit suicide by state troopers, supposedly Ben got bit in the arm by the little girl zombie but lost the film in that farmhouse due to a flood. And they just left the ending as is. You can see the girl grab his arm in the film towards the end when the house becomes totally zombie infiltrated. I hope some cast member or writer reads this to put a closure on my curiosity from the clip that I read about a year ago.
