Livewire One Review! The Electric Motorcycle Built By Harley Davidson
Автокөліктер мен көлік құралдары
I drive the Livewire One Electric Motorcycle. This is the first time I've ridden an electric motorcycle and it makes me wonder if I should've bought an electric instead of my Street Bob.

They sound more peaceful to ride without all the extra noise from an engine but definitely lacks the character that an engine brings. The range is pretty lousy. It would make interstate travel slow. For example it’s about 300 miles across Washington state. You can drive it in 4hr with a car. On that motorcycle you would have to stop 3 x and charge for an hour which would take about 7 hours to go across the state. At this point, these bikes are a novelty. Once they can get the range up to 150-200 and the charge times under a 1/2hr then they start to make sense as a viable alternative.
For sure. Would love to see other electric bike. Man that look like so much fun. I know it won’t be as fun as a Harley but I’m sure trying something different can be just as much fun. Looking forward to your reviews on other bikes.
I own a V-ROD and I would love to own a Livewire. They sound bad ass and would be perfect for scooting around town! Fuck all the haters! lol
I enjoyed the review! It would be good to see more electric bike reviews before I decide which one to go with. I’m interested in highway range and charging times. Thanks for the info!
Harley Davidson! Definitely a great review. Thank you for your time. I really appreciate it. Stay Blessed and Ride Safe. 🙂
Brembo brakes, Showa suspension are actually really good components on a sportbike so to see Harley go that direction for their LiveWire sounds intriguing. I’d like to see more range and quicker 0-100% charge before I decide to go electric myself.

I would love to see them do this same route again so we can see how the charging infrastructure has changed since then.

CCS/Level 3 all day long. Once you go CCS, you never want to go back 🤣. The beautiful thing about having level 3 on the bike is you can quickly gain a bulk of the battery in minutes if you charge between 20% and 80% - you can't get that on a level 2 bike as it's a near constant charge rate the whole cycle. I can travel just about twice as far with the Livewire than I could with my old Zero DSR that was level 1 and 2 only. I could go on as to why Level 2 is a bad idea for motorcycles moving forward!

Glad to hear your real world experiences!
Yes! Do more!
If they're using CCS for fast charging you should be able to use a J-1772 level 2 plug as well. I can in my car.
if there is a way to have level two and level three choice, that would be ideal. it really is nice that the bike can fast charger at level three charging stations. it seems like the ability to have access to both level two and level three would be ideal if needed.
I believe the prototype for the HD was used in the documentary "long way up" with Ewan McGregor and Charley Booman. It was really cool to see how they addressed the lack of infrastructure down in South and Central America.

I think splitting the branding was an excellent idea. I’m a millennial and while I love the classic Harley brand, I know it would be off putting to some that Harley would “push” E-bikes. Makes sense for Harley to be Livewire, but Livewire can’t be Harley!

I'm not a rider myself and I don't know much about bikes, but I 100% agree with you that lack of level 2 charging functionality is a huge miss. I actually didn't even know until watching your video that it couldn't accept 240V charging. I think DC fast charging is good to have, but not at the cost of level 2 charging.

Level 3 DC charging is for road tripping only. Daily use will kill that battery a lot faster. I can’t believe they didn’t provide level II charging.
Where is the Beautiful Harley sound??????
If it's priced well, it'll do well. If it's still priced as a premium vehicle, that will hurt them. This younger generation isn't sold on the Harley brand the way older generations used to be.
must definitely feel different not having to pull a clutch coming to a stop or slowing down for a turn. I wouldn't mind adding a LiveWIre to the garage just to have something different to ride around in.

That’s how I view it. It would be a great second bike for me.
I'd buy one if it weren't friggin 15K That's 50% more than my house cost. I just bought a cherry mint 2008 Honda Shadow Spirit 750cc instead for 2K Most expensive motorcycle I ever bought. It better last. My other motorcycles are 1980's Hondas which I got for less than 1K each and are still great.

They really need to get their range and or charging speed faster if they want a new generation of riders on this!
Those boomers in front of you wearing only a helmet crack me up. Really need full gear. The road will tear you up if you ever take a spill. The jackets have great ventilation and you can buy armored bluejeans that won't shred. Heated gloves in the winter are a game changer. Many times in a wreck shoes are flung off leaving your feet unprotected. Boots protect against ankle injuries also.
For a comparison, you may want to look at the Energica electric motorcycles. Larger batteries, faster Level 3 DC Fast Charging, Level 2 charging, longer range, and faster performance.

Seems like a great bike, but I agree with most people that it's overpriced and that the range is too limited. My other beef is that it should have 17" wheels, to accommodate the wide range of sporting tires available in that size.
70 mile range on hwy is terrible, this may be a good option for a work commuter in town but that's about it.

Harley trying to convince a bunch of anti-modernization BabyBoomers and older GenX BabyBoomer clones to buy (or even just accept) an electric bike is ballsy as hell. But if electric bikes are ever going ot be a thing in America, it had to be Harley to lead the way.
I just want to know whats up with the 0.2 mph turn on to 171st Street when the light was green. With 70 miles highway range, I'm most definitely not interested. Harley should have never made this bike. They also shouldn't have killed the Buell brand. If they still had Buell, this bike would fit in with their aesthetic. No one who is interested in Harley will want this bike.
