Livewire One EV Motorcycle - Quick Ride Review

Автокөліктер мен көлік құралдары

We do a quick ride of my very own 2022 Livewire One. Not necessarily a rare or one-off, but I get a million questions about what it's like to live with an EV sports bike, so I take the time to answer all of your questions.
Apologies, the audio isn't the best when we hit high speeds. We have a new better solution to pull better audio for the next videos in the series.

Having put around 4k miles on a Livewire One in my one year of ownership, here are my thoughts. I have mainly ridden in urban and peri-urban environments as I don't love doing long stints at motorway speeds due to the lack of protection. I would agree that it's the ultimate urban weapon and fantastic on the twisties. Very easy to filter through tight spaces, amazing acceleration (never gets old) and great brakes and very flickable despite its weight. What I love it the limitless, smooth acceleration and power throughout the rev range. It's a unique feeling and so stable as if "on rails". However, there are many downsides. Firstly, the mudguard. I live in Paris where it rains for half the year. The stock mudguard sprays all the water directly into your face and Livewire/Harley don't offer any possible replacements. The only option is to have one made a huge cost. The same is true of the seat, which with regular use becomes very uncomfortable. Livewire really needs to offer some aftermarket solutions to customise their bikes! Also, it's very hard to find a compatible windshield. I also changed the tyres that, in the wet, become slippery and dangerous. This has improved the handling generally and especially in the wet. I don't like the switch gear. Not only are the indicators on both sides but it's hard to find cruise control and without looking I often press the wrong button. The horn isn't easy to find either in a busy urban environment. I like the riding position but I find my right wrist gets sore after a while, which didn't happen on my ICEs. My biggest gripe is the fact that when problems do occur, Harley and Livewire pass the buck. I had numerous charging and electronic issues and it took 8 months to get them sorted out. I'm not alone in having such issues. Eventually by going to the top, I've sorted them out and they have respected the law with the warranty, but it took all my time and energy for months. Would I recommend this bike? If you have the money, the customer service were better and it was more customisable, without a doubt yes. As things stand, I'd hesitate. The other concern is depreciation. I think I would struggle to sell on at a reasonable price if I wanted to change. I heard that you mention the R ninet. I've tested the new R12 ninet and really love it out on the open roads but I found first and second gear a bit jerky in town. What's your take? If you had to choose between the R9T and the Livewire as a single bike, which would it be? 🙃
