LIVERPOOL | Full tour of Liverpool City Centre

A tour of Liverpool City Centre, The Beatles home town featuring the Liverpool Trophy Parade and tourist attractions like The Cavern Club, Mathew Street, Albert Dock and Liver Building
Also watch Llandudno Wales 👉🏻 • LLANDUDNO Wales UK | S...
Liverpool is a city on the River Mersey in Merseyside, England. Gimbal Walk TV visits Liverpool City Centre for this epic walk through one of the greatest cities in England on the day of the Liverpool Trophy Parade.
Our Liverpool tour begins at the Royal Albert Docks on the River Mersey on the waterfront where we can see the Liver Building in the distance, just one of our stops ahead of us. The Albert Dock is where This Morning with Richard and Judy was filmed.
Coming out of Albert Dock we cross Hartley Quay and head past the Maritime Museum and the Dock Traffic Office and pump house. As we pass Canning Dock we come to The Strand where the scousers are gathering ahead of the Liverpool Football Club Trophy Parade.
From The Strand we make our way along to The Liverpool Waterfront and Pier Head where we stop by to see The Beatles statue and monument to John Lennon, Paul McCartney, Ringo Starr and George Harrison.
We also see the Royal Liver Building and the Cunard Building as well as the Port Of Liverpool Building and Georges Dockway.
From here we walk up Brunswick Street to Castle Street and Liverpool Town Hall before heading down to the world famous Mathew Street, home of The Cavern Club where the Beatles and Cilla Black were discovered. Head down into the basement of the most famous club in the world to experience what it would have been like in days of the Fab Four.
Just as exciting as The Cavern Club for me is Eric's Liverpool music venue opposite where many bands made their early appearances from Echo and the Bunnymen to OMD.
Mathew Street is a vibrant and exciting street with Rubber Soul bar, the Cavern Pub, Sgt Peppers, The Hard Days Night hotel and the Cilla Black statue. Also on Mathew Street is the Liverpool Beatles Museum which is worth a visit. The Grapes Pub is also a noteable place here to have a drink or something to eat.
Of course the main tourist attraction in Liverpool is the Cavern Club itself, and there are many Beatles Shops and the Beatles Tour here. Where Mathew Street meets Rainford Gardens is the building that used to house Probe Records where famous pop star Pete Burns used to work.
This Liverpool guide then takes us into Whitechapel and up Lord Street before heading down to The Strand for the big ending to our video, the Liverpool Trophy Parade where Liverpool Football Club passes by on open top buses, cheered on by Liverpool fans here to see their footballing heroes!
With 5 shopping centres, 2 department stores and over 400 shops there's something for everyone and every budget in Liverpool city centre.
Stores range from stylish boutiques, designer outlets in Metquarter and Cavern Walks to all the big names you’d expect to find on the high street, along with smaller independent stores unique to the city.
Liverpool is great with hotels, restaurants, bars, museums, galleries and more.
Fans of The Beatles will lover the Cavern Quarter. The Cavern Quarter is quite the place for people from all over the world to experience a bit of Beatles History.
Mathew Street is also home to plenty of other Beatles themed bars including the Cavern Pub, Eric’s, The Grapes, Rubber Soul and Sgt Peppers - wherever you go down here the sound of The Beatles will follow.
Take a wander down the historic street and you’ll be welcomed by not only the sounds of buskers but by the arms of some of Liverpool’s most famous statues too. Find John Lennon leaning up against the Cavern Pub and Cilla Black opposite Eric’s.

The buildings in Liverpool are awesome. Around Brunswick Street, that Cunard Building and the others all carved out of stone, wonderful ! The new builds around the docks look a lot like the ones around here in Salford Quays, sharp edges, protruding up and outwards. That guy in black staggering up the street looked like he was having a good time lol. I really enjoy your marathon walks (1hr) to take it all in and see what's going on. Love it, well done - keep walking :)

The red and white building around 16.-17 mins is Albion House, one time HQ of the White Star Line. It was built around the same time as the Norman Shaw buildings on the Thames Embankment (NS architect). One of these is the old New Scotland Yard building. The similarities are obvious.

Knowing only that Liverpool had a terrible reputation from the 70s and 80s, always being quoted in the media as a classic illustration of urban degeneration and squalor, badly mismanaged by its politicians, I was so pleasantly surprised when I visited there for the first time about six or seven years ago. It looks even better now. A wonderful example of a city picking itself up by its bootstraps.

We love Liverpool. My in laws are from there originally, from Woolton (where THAT village fete was in 1957). My sister in law and her friend walked from their house to George Harrison’s parents house for autographs, having had to have crossed at least 2 main roads. My husband’s cousin was (I have on good authority) friends with John Lennon and Cynthia in the art collage days. My in-laws left in 1968 for the Midlands due to work commitments, 6 months after my husband was born. We have visited 3 times in recent years. We went in 2016 to celebrate my 40th, and stayed in the Holiday Inn Express hotel in Albert Dock. Our room faced into the square and the view of the museum and Liver building. It was incredibly hot, it was mid August. That visit, we did the Magical Myster Tour bus, the tour guide was Holly Johnson’s younger brother. He had some amazing stories to tell. Then on to Matthew Street. The bus drops you outside Debenhams, it minutes walk away. We had dinner in what is now the wall of fame bar. It was an American style diner with alcoholic milkshakes! On the second day we went back to Matthew Street to have a drink in the Cavern at lunchtime as we couldn’t go in the night before with our then underage daughter. We did the Beatles Story in the afternoon, and I spent a fortune in the gift shop. The second time was 2019 for my daughter’s 18th birthday. Her wish was to have her first alcoholic drink in the Cavern. Her wIsh was granted. The guy playing in the back room of the Cavern sang happy birthday to her. That time we stayed at a little apartment near the Wheel of Liverpool that we found on Airbnb. Again, a great spot for all the amenities. We went to the Museum of Liverpool, which is fabulous. I am disabled and the staff were friendly, we borrowed a wheelchair and it was well thought out for it. The last day we were there we did the ferry across the Mersey. The tour guide was so engaging. Not so great for the disabled, but not impossible. It was a cold November day, but the tea in the cafe made it better. During the evenings, most of the prestigious buildings are illuminated. The docks and Liver building are stunning. The last time we went, in February this year, the first thing we saw as we pulled onto The Strand was the Liver building, the clocks glowing and the building looking majestic as we made our way out of Water Street. That time we stayed at the Travelodge on The Strand. Again, a really good experience. I use a wheeled walking frame, and by law they had to come up with an evacuation plan, in case of emergency. I wasn’t made to feel like a problem or hindrance, the staff were great. Our room was on the 5th floor, the view of the docks and the pier buildings was fabulous at night. One place we went that wasn’t on your walking tour was the Philharmonic Hall. We saw Suzanne Vega there on our wedding anniversary, the reason for the trip. The hall is stunning, an Art Deco style with beautiful acoustics. Lastly, you played “our song” at the end of the video. We played it at our wedding while we signed the register. Liverpool is an amazing city, the people are welcoming, the culture diverse, and you can never be bored. Our daughter visited the slavery museum and enjoyed it. There really is something for everyone. Once the cost of living has returned to some sort of normal, we hope to plan another trip.

You really showcased Liverpool centre well! Its a shame that they have lost a lot of the original features in the street around The Cavern Club but I guess places have to be modernised! Liver Building is stunning. The smoke at the parade was a bit daft, must have been hard to see through it! No copyright on the Frankie song at the end? Really enjoyed that one!

Another great vlog Neil. Still following me from Lytham St. Annes and Southport, now you found the offices I work in, in Liverpool for our hotel group. Our logo can be seen in the glass behind Cilla’s right arm. You were right about the sound though but for different reasons. When our office windows are open all you here is the music from 7 or 8 venues all playing different Beatles tunes at the same time! And in one there is a Karaoke. Mid to late afternoon a nightmare, and they start at 10 in the morning! Ready for another anecdote? The Cavern isn’t the original Cavern which was closed as part of the underground building of the railway circuit under the city. Sadly, the original Cavern wasn’t massively affected by the works so a big waste really. My previous MD is the son of the last owner of the original Cavern. Sorry I couldn’t watch the end… I am the Mancunian in Liverpool, p.s. good show on the Manchester one. I do have a cheeky anecdote on that one as well, oh and my team won the league. On a serious note though, the architecture of Liverpool is stunning and there are hundreds of road names/references to places in London to digest. As always, keep up the good work.
