I'm a Sheffielder, had to go to Liverpool a few years back, was expecting a crime ridden, run-down dump, that's all I had ever heard of the place...........couldn't be more wrong, I found it a smashing place, full of some of the friendliest people you'll find, plenty to do in the centre, not a ghost town like many places, pleasant walks.

It’s close, but I would say Birmingham would give you a good run for your money… the food available from street food to Michelin stared restaurants, is definitely better in Brum as is some of its festivals ( St. Patrick’s Day, Pride weekend, Birmingham weekender arts festival etc )…. I think the people are both some of the friendliest and nicest in the UK though and both have old stereotypes usually from people who have never been….

As a scouser born n bred, really enjoyed this. The incorrect stereotypes of the 80’s couldn’t be more wrong. You realise that as soon as you come here. Liverpool is an amazing place. Not many cities can touch it for architecture and night life or the hospitality of its locals. Regarding the Adelphi, it’s one of Liverpool’s grandest buildings, it’s just in the wrong hands. The owners won’t sell up despite many offers to do so, it should be Liverpool’s most luxurious hotel in a prime spot. I’m sure it will end up in the right hands one day. Also, you seen the Anglican cathedral (the most spectacular) but you didn’t see the Wigwam cathedral. Theres 2. 😂 plenty to still see on your next visit.

@@scottohare8355 I agree but that building is one of Liverpool’s grandest, the rooms haven’t been decorated for 30 years. It should be a luxury hotel given the building itself

I've never been to Liverpool, but from your video there seems to be more than a little bit of a New York City vibe to it. I think John Lennon said that Liverpool is very much like New York, for an English city. Maybe that's why he felt at home in NYC when he moved over there.

You definitely need to goto the Museums to see the Mummies old cars trains and Aquariums in the main one and Library next door on your next visit all are free to enter also the Maritime Museum by the Liver Building. Glad you enjoyed your visit and hope you come back soon. 👍👍👍

I live in Birkenhead and Birkenhead Park was the inspiration to build Central Park in NYC... Sadly there is much more looked after than the original.

Hi ya i live down south but was lucky to visit liverpool years ago for a week.i stayed at the adelphy hotel cheap but nice went on ferry cross the mersey saw the liverbird building carvern club went on a yellow boat was great week❤❤

Never been to Liverpool… looks so friendly. Helens stomach must be lined with steel .. she can handle her drink and her food … go girl ! 😊

I'm from Liverpool and I must say with some biased its the best weekend in the UK. Get there in the summer with friends and you'll have a ball. Everyone friendly.

Fantastic video, I love Liverpool. Head up there when I can and love the pubs and the cavern club. Long drive from Bournemouth but always stay at the liner hotel

The Poste House looked nice. I can't believe how busy and noisy the pubs were, maybe I'm just really old. You looked like you were having fun. The Philharmonic Dining Rooms looked beautiful.

Love Liverpool.. stayed at the Albert docks area a few times.. some great sights

Absolutely brilliant i love Liverpool been many times especially for the football love the people are lovely great to see you and helen enjoyed it too and helen is a lady after my own heart i love guiness 😎👍

Have Been To All the Pubs You Called At! Great Tour Loved to see Your Impressions. There are So Many Great Pubs in Liverpool - Every time we go we try a new one and they are always Old Pubs! Kavanagh's, The Vines and Philharmonic are some of my Fav's! @@bythecurb

I remember 1965 as a kid riding the Mersey Ferry brilliant memories guys Tks

The philharmonic is where james cordon suprised the customers when sir paul McCartney was playing behind the curtain .Paul McCartney and James Corden's Carpool Karaoke team served up one of the biggest surprises in the celebrity world of recent times. People drinking in the Philharmonic Dining Rooms in Liverpool were treated to one of the most low key homecoming gigs from the Liverpudlian superstar!

Fabulous. Just went back in time to 1980. -1986. The Albert Dock, I remember the first docks to be regenerated and I worked at a stall in there about 1985. You went to 3 of the pubs we used to frequent as students. The philharmonic or The Phil as we used to call it has some interesting male toilets. Fancy Victorian urinals! Worth a visit. Ye hole in ye wall, the grapes were all part of the student scene. I remember the bar person in ye hole snatching away ash trays at last orders and when we asked what to do with our ash he said “ the world is your ash tray” pointing at the floor! Different times 😂. Liverpool looks like it’s had a bit of money thrown at it since then. Thank you for the memories. ❤❤

Had lots of fun in Liverpool -Had a good client for my scrap there who paid well who later on expanded to Asia / usa . Fun people love u loads and live life . Have to say old buildings are beautiful. James and Helen u make a great team and like mini Tom and Jerry when James tells u off nicely

Go to a Mersey Rail station and buy a Mersey rover ticket. With the ticket you can go on the trains buses and Mersey ferry all day long. You can go to Chester, New Brighton , Birkenhead , all over the show...

To many great pubs in Liverpool. Philamonic is great... even having a wee is amazing.. the bridewell (old police station and cells) was great many years ago when I last visited. Can't wait for part 2

We visited Liverpool a couple of months ago and stumbled upon The Grapes. We didn’t stay long. We were the oldest by a good 30 years and I’m only 54

My favourite drinking city, it used to be Manchester, before it attempted to become the London of the North, Liverpool still has that down to earth feel about it. Scousers are a friendly bunch, though if you meet a bad one, they will be very bad. You seemed to have enjoyed yourselves, despite an initial poor choice of pubs. When you were stood at the traffic lights, there was an Okells of the Isle Of Man pub right behind you, you would've liked that. It is grade 2 listed and is next door to another pub the Lady of Mann. My favourites are the Baltic Fleet, Lion Tavern, Cracke and the Belvedere. Great Vlog.

Be wary of the pubs towards the Pier Head end of Town, tourist traps and the worst for ripping people off. You actually passed a gem of a pub that's behind the Liverpool pub, The Cornmarket. Really enjoying your videos featuring my city, you're definitely showing off its good side.

Glad you liked the city I live in. Oops, you’ve got The White Star in your list up top when you went to The White Hart. There is a White Star, near The Cavern and it’s a cracking pub, but it’s a long way down the hill from the ‘Hart. Now looking forward to Part 2. Cuing it up now.

Good to see you visiting some of my regular go to pubs. Spent many a night in ye hole in ye wall. Has a ghost and an upstairs cellar. The post house is a straight pub downstairs and a gay bar upstairs. You definitely need to visit again, you've barely scratched the surface, so many quality pubs in Liverpool. Glad you enjoyed it.

Great place, so much to do. I love Bold Street. Cracking little independant cafes & restuarants 🏴󠁧󠁢󠁷󠁬󠁳󠁿

Story about the liver birds . One is looking out to sea to see the sailors coming ashore ,and the other one is checking the pubs are open . If you ever get the chance go to the St George’s hall beer fest ,the end of the Friday afternoon session is very entertaining ? . .? I used to live in anfield,one of my neighbours was alison steadman. I’m in the small fishing village of Ellesmere Port now ! Glad you enjoyed Liverpool.

Who knew you had so many scouse followers… we must gravitate toward each other! I’m gutted you didn’t show the gents in the Philharmonic… it’s world renowned! On weekdays the kind bar staff have been known to guard the door while the ladies have a peek at the Victorian marble urinals… you didn’t half cover some terrain… tbh after watching your vlog on Hull we went to the streetlife museum and loved it but all the pubs there were rammed too… our city centres are thriving! Can’t wait for part 2. 👍🏻👍🏻
