The US Secretary of State Antony Blinken is in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia to attend the two-day World Economic Forum meet convening in the city. While in the Saudi capital, Blinken attends joint ministerial meeting with the foreign ministers of the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) countries. This, as tensions between Israel and Hamas remain in West Asia, with Saudi Arabia planning to host a summit specific to the conflict soon. Gulf nations have criticised Israel's bombing of Gaza, however, and voted for a two-state solution in the middle east conflict. The US, however, has vetoed Palestine's demand to become a permanent UN member. Iran-Israel have also recently witnessed escalating tensions with Tehran launching its first direct attack towards Israel.
